  • "Cranford is a beautifully appointed property."

    Salcombe has hills and this property sits half way up one but is a great way to stay healthy and soon becomes a daily norm. We were unable to use the garage parking to the rear of the property as our Q5 was too big but there is plenty of free roadside parking at the very top of the hill or for £5 a day a long stay car park. The front patio area has the sun most of the day so great for early morning and late afternoon drinks. The patio and garden to the rear is very pretty and has a superb large patio set for alfresco dining should the weather permit. If you book Cranford you won't be disappointed, it is kitted out with top quality furnishings and plentiful kitchenware. We felt at home as soon as we arrived , a lovely family home.

    I am so sorry you were disappointed with the size of the garage. Sadly garages in Salcombe come at a significant premium and were not all built for the size of cars that we drive on the roads now!   • "There was no welcome pack on arrival and therefore the photos for advertisement are misleading."

    The garage is situated a good distance away, and a parking permit would be helpful. The most disappointing issue was, we had not been informed that building work would be taking place next door. Blinds for the patio windows would be helpful to create privacy in the evenings. Blinds for the skylights would be also advantageous. Wouldn't want to stay there in 30% heat. Overall it is a good property, but could be much better with some further thought.

  • "Cranford is a really lovely property and downstairs was absolutely great."

    It is just 10 minutes walk into Salcombe where there are lots of places to eat and shops. The only criticisms we had were that there wasn’t much space upstairs to put our things, although as we only used 2 bedrooms we could use that to keep our clothes. We also found the beds rather soft, but maybe that’s just personal preference.

  • "Cranford is a lovely holiday home."

    Beautifully presented, it had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We loved the kitchen and family area which opened onto a well kept cottage garden complete with seating and bbq. Garage parking was a real bonus. We were so lucky with the weather and enjoyed our days walking. Our only disappointment was that there was building work next door which was noisy at times. Hopefully, this will be finished soon.

    We were a family of five adults and there was plenty of space inside and out for us all to relax. Luxury bedding and towels provided and all the cleaning essentials there already. A lovely selection of books and magazines too. One little handy hint - the cutlery is in the island drawer above the picnic crockery

    The house was immaculate from top to bottom, the outside area at the back was lovely and private; and the location was great. Parking was an added bonus and there were other parking options nearby if you had more than one car.

  • "Cranford is a beautifully modernised property and the owners have given every consideration with providing a comfortable relaxing place to stay."

    The luxury accommodation and beds are excellent and the off-road parking is very useful. Due to its high elevation and many steps the property could be challenging for some but its position is also convenient for Salcombe and local bus routes. Cranford is extremely well maintained and one of the cleanest places we have stayed at. A definite 5 stars from us….hope to return soon.

    The tumble dryer was a bit erratic - water and filter hadn’t been emptied before our arrival. We had a fabulous holiday in Cranford despite some dodgy weather.

  • "We had a fantastic stay."

    House was in a great position with the bonus of parking and walking into Salcombe. Hilly and lots of stairs but worth it. I have knee issues and a replacement and I managed. House was beautifully furnished and the best equipped that we have ever stayed in. I hope visitors look after it and they keep the standards. Would definitely go back :-)

The property

Cranford, a stylish and fully refurbished (in 2023), three-storey home, rests in the heart of the popular seaside town of Salcombe, Devon.

Shortlisted in the 2025 Sykes Gem Awards for best renovation.

Accommodating up to six guests, Cranford is close to the hub of amenities as well as local beaches and is a wonderful choice for friends and families looking to tour the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Unload at the roadside and ascend the external steps to reach the lovely decked area with seating, enjoying views to the front of the property, overlooking the town.

After unloading, park in the nearby open private garage which is located just a short walk away to the rear of the property.

Step inside to be met by the welcoming, modern interior with a comfortable intimate sitting room to the front with views from the window of the town and with plush seating to sink into, an electric log burner style fire to enhance the cosy atmosphere, and a Smart TV for entertainment.

Continue exploring your home away from home and you will find the large open-plan living space to the rear of the property with underfloor heating and a sleek, fully-integrated modern kitchen with atmospheric lighting features, a large kitchen island with breakfast-bar seating, a dedicated dining area, and a further seating area with a large smart TV to unwind whilst taking in the view of the pretty garden beyond.

A washing machine, tumble dryer and Belfast sink can also be found in the cloakroom/utility for your convenience.

The master bedroom ls located on the second floor and benefits from its own en-suite and fabulous Cabrio Velux window with views over stunning countryside, neighbouring gardens and to the estuary beyond.

With cosy underfloor heating, get ready in one of the modern bathrooms before heading into the town to sample some local cuisine in one of the many eateries on offer in this pretty seaside location.

Discover the National Trust grounds of Overbeck's Garden, stroll along Salcombe North Sands, or don your walking boots for a hike through East Soar Nature Reserve which is a short drive away.

The local shops have everything you need to stock up on the essentials to prepare a wonderful meal in the fully equipped kitchen and gift shops and galleries provide ample opportunity to purchase unique items to take home with you.

Resting north is the pretty town of Kingsbridge, with further gift shops, art galleries and restaurants for you to explore and crabbing on the Kingsbridge estuary is a popular family pastime that is sure to delight the younger members of your party.

Dartmouth, home of the Britannia Royal Naval College and with popular attractions including Dartmouth Castle, picturesque harbour and the National Trust property Greenway the former home of Agatha Christie, is well worth a visit.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.
