We all thought it was probably the best equipped house we have ever stayed in after about 30 years of renting holiday houses. We really appreciated the generous welcome pack. Thank you for making our stay so comfortable. Reviewed by MichaelMay 2022 "An amazing barn!" Everything was perfect; the barn was spotless, comfortable and had everything we needed. Small problem when we arrived and was sorted very quickly by the owner. Will happily book again. Reviewed by JeanSep 2021 "Just returned from a weeks holiday at Higher Hill Barn." It was a fantastic place, everything you needed and would highly recommend. The views were spectacular, much fun also had in the games room playing pool. The area itself was lovely and we were lucky to enjoy some excellent meals. We would like to return in the future. There was everything in the house that you could ever need and more. The place was spotless and we felt very comfortable in the fact that it was all covid safe. We were particularly taken by the kitchen which is really well equipped. Beautiful views. We were happy to stay in over a very rainy weekend. Reviewed by JenniferMay 2021 "What a great place." Lots of room and real attention to detail in the way the house has been converted. Spotlessly clean and a kitchen far better equipped than our own. There's even a small games room above the garage with a pub pool table which was an unexpected winner with my eldest daughter (and me). The house is situated in working agricultural land so its not picture postcard leafy Devon valleys or rolling hills full of sheep but the house does a great deal to make up for that. The real test for us was that the weather was pretty awful while we were there and we still enjoyed our break primarily because of the great house. Reviewed by SimonOct 2020 "Only thing missing was a storage area for mountain bikes etc." There is a large garage but access was declined. Other than that it was perfect. Reviewed by AdamOct 2020 "Higher Hill Barn is an amazing property." It is surrounded by beautiful countryside and close to lovely beaches like Beesands. The barn itself is superbly equipped and very comfortable. All of the en-suite bedrooms are spacious with good bathrooms. The kitchen has every utensil you could want and was a great place for us to enjoy cooking together as a family. We had to make the difficult decision to leave the barn and venture out each day, we could easily have spent a week relaxing inside! Reviewed by JoanneMar 2020 "Fabulous house and had everything you would need for a large group of people." Very modern and clean and enough room for 10 people easily. Lovely friendly owner - we had a great week away thank you. Reviewed by VickiFeb 2020 "The house was amazing." We had 6 adults and 2 children in our party. The house was beautiful and the location excellent. The kitchen was well stocked and we had a lovely hamper for when we arrived. We would recommend the house as a brilliant place to stay whilst staying in Devon. Reviewed by MelanieOct 2019 "We were very impressed with the quality of the renovations at Higher Hill Barn." The furniture and fittings made for a luxurious long weekend. The cooler autumn evenings meant we were unable to use the beautiful patio and barbecue area, perhaps we can return at an earlier time in the year. The setting is beautifully tranquil and we saw some lovely night skies. One small point to advise other future guests, we had a very lively 2 year old in our party, and the garden features some very enticing high level ledges, easily accessible and part of the garden design. The living accommodation is upstairs and the stairs are also not easily blocked off. Fortunately at 2 he was able to manage the stairs ok, as they are very well designed ,but it could be tricky with a slightly younger explorer. Apart from that the accommodation has a high chair and can provide a cot. The owner provides many thoughtful touches and obviously cares that his guests have an enjoyable holiday. Reviewed by KathleenSep 2019 "We thoroughly recommend Higher Hill Barn." It is in a lovely location, very quiet and no need to worry about any noise we might have made. It is a beautifully presented property with everything we could have possibly needed. We stayed during sunny weather so were able to make good use of the outdoor space and the children were able to play safely. Reviewed by SharonAug 2019 "Beautiful barn." Fittings and fixtures were of a very high standard. Well stocked with kitchen utensils. Lovely location. Reviewed by SaraJun 2019 "Cannot fault the property - absolutely stunning." When booking through Sykes we did ask about baby facilities to which they told us that a cot and high chair were not available despite these being listed as available on request. After a few more phonecalls one to Coast and Country (who were fantastic) and one to the owner we established that these were indeed available. It was frustrating to get the wrong information from Sykes as these things were essential for our stay with a 12 month year old baby and it spoiled the lead up to the holiday. Reviewed by EmilyMay 2019 "This barn is truly a delightful place." Our family of 6 adults and 4 children had a fabulous week enjoying meals around that magnificent table. Weather turned nasty and had a day in the barn, plenty of room for everyone. Standard of kitchen equipment was excellent and throughout furnishings are of a very tasteful. Very high standard of cleanliness. Only down side is the narrow road to the barn for about a mile but don't let that put you off. Highly recommend this lovely barn. Reviewed by ChristineMay 2019 "Wow what an absolutely stunning place!" Higher Hill Barn is probably one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in. There was everything you wish for ! Off the beaten track, a truly magnificent place to stay with more than enough room for three generations of our family. Jun 2017 "Excellent" Sep 2016 "Stunning property, very spacious & well equipped." Fabulous views from inside and out, plenty of space, extremely comfortable beds with top quality bedding (which still felt fresh at the end of the week) and beautiful bathrooms. Large utility room and outside drying space really helps with wetsuits, towels and washing! The best large house we have stayed in. (4 adults and 5 children). This was our second year in this house and our 20th in the South Hams. Aug 2016 "Lovely house and immaculately presented in the midst of the countryside." Three generations of our family had foregathered to celebrate a 70th birthday and had a great time. The grandchildren loved the pond and investigating the wildlife in it. The adults enjoyed relaxing on the patio with a cold drink and the fully fitted kitchen was a boon to the duty chef! Another big plus was that four of the five bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. A highly recommended property for a relaxing time away from it all. John And JanJun 2016 "The Barn itself was excellent, fully equipped and some nice extra touches." It's set, as you would guess from the name within farmland and has lovely country views all around. All though the weather could have been kinder on our stay because of the comfort and facilities within the barn it didn't spoil our visit. The only downside to the location, If you can describe it as a downside was the narrow roads on the approach to the property. However anyone who has visited this pretty part of the country would expect it and for us was apart of the attraction to it's location. It is centred around many attractions and family beaches and is only a short drive away from many. Our 7 days at the Barn went far too fast and is a perfect place to relax. Sep 2015 "We book a holiday let every year and our requirements change as the family grows." This year it was 7 adults and 3 children + toddler and we all agreed it was the best place yet. This fantastic property has everything, It would take too long to list all the likes but will say that it is a very high quality property fitted out beautifully in a great central area of the South Hams, the rooms are large and provide all you need, everything is spotlessly clean and the kitchen has every accessory required. Outside space matches the inside, fantastic. This would be a great place to stay any time of the year and we think great value for money, probably shouldn't say this but we think it could attract a higher rental than is currently charged. There were no dislikes on this property no matter how hard we tried to find one. Do not hesitate to book this property, you will love it. Mr STEPHEN ReidAug 2015 "Better equipped than our homes." All quality stuff even including a wine chiller although it wasn't working during our stay so we had to make do with the enormous fridge! Aug 2015 "Fantastic facilities." The standard of the barn was brilliant it had everything we could have wanted. It's location was beautifully tucked away but easy to access everywhere we wanted to go. Hamper on arrival was a lovely treat! The games room was used a lot by the men. The en suites were lovely & the mattresses were so comfortable. Couldn't recommend it any more. Mrs S GodsmarkAug 2015 "A beautiful property in immaculate condition." Great views across the South Hams countryside. Great location close to beaches.
