  • "Beautiful views, very well equipped luxury property."

Had a relaxing stay with family here. Wonderful to hear the birdsong. Hosts very welcoming.

Really happy to hear you enjoyed staying at The Hayloft Zoe & that the cottage provided everything you needed! Also pleased that you & the family had the opportunity to relax, unwind & connect with the nature all around us. Spring time, in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is always uplifting - nesting birds, lambs & calves in the surrounding fields & more wild flowers appearing day on day. Best wishes to you all - Sara Property Owner

  • "Beautiful place with wonderful views."

Sara the host is so welcoming and has thoughtfully provided all you could need for a relaxing break. Nothing better having explored some of the local area than to come back to a chilled evening watching the sunset from the hot tub. I would certainly recommend the Hayloft.

Thank you for this complimentary feedback & recommendation Sally. We're really happy to hear you had a good time & the Hayloft delivered for your 3-generation staycation. Sharing time & making memories together is always important, but particularly when grandchildren are young. It was a privilege to be a (very small!) part of it :-)) Best wishes to you & your family - Sara Property Owner

  • "The only bad thing about staying at The Hayloft is that you have to leave."

We have just had the most wonderful 9 nights staying in this beautiful place and it simply wasn't enough. We arrived to a very warm welcome from the hosts, Sara and Ozgur who were exceptionally helpful throughout our stay and so friendly. Huge scones with jam and cream were waiting for us in the kitchen along with fresh milk from the farm shop. We settled in immediately into the cottage which is absolutely stunning, furnished to a high standard and so comfortable and homely. The hot tub was an absolute joy with views to die for. I took books to read but actually didn't read any because i couldn't stop gazing at the countryside. Like I said at the start, the only disappointment was having to leave, but we have returned home feeling rejuvenated and so thankful that we found this place. We will definitely be going back.

Aah Rachel :-)) thank you so much for this lovely, positive feedback about your stay here. Devon wouldn't be Devon without having at least one cream tea ;) We were sad to see you leave too, but content to know you both left recharged from your stay with us at the Hayloft. Please come & see us again. In the meantime, take care - Sara Property Owner

Thank you John, we're really happy you enjoyed your stay! You & Sandra would be welcome back, anytime! We're completely bowled over by the beautiful 'Thank You' card we've just received! It has clearly taken time, effort & artistic talent to put together, with your photograph of the Hayloft set against the roses in the garden ... thank you so much ... unexpected but really appreciated :-)) Sending you both warm wishes - Sara Property Owner

About the location

HONITON

Ottery St Mary 5.6 miles; Lyme Regis 14.2 miles; Exeter 16.7 miles.

Honiton is a delightful market town in East Devon, with plenty to offer visitors. It lies in the valley of the River Otter and is surrounded by rolling Devon hills, green wooded valleys and plenty of scattered farming villages. Honiton has an attractive High Street stretching almost 2 miles, and lined with individually owned shops, pubs and restaurants. Honiton has been famous for lacemaking since the reign of Elizabeth I and still has a few lacemakers in work today - visitors can see some fine examples of antique lace in the town’s Allhallows Museum. Honiton boasts the only public art gallery in East Devon; the Thelma Hulbert Gallery occupies an attractive Grade I listed Victorian house, and has links with the Hayward Gallery, London. Honiton is only a short drive from the dramatic 20 mile stretch of Jurassic Coast, England’s first natural World Heritage Site. Resorts such as Seaton, Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth are found along this stretch of coastline, and all have much to occupy the visitor. Near to Honiton is the cathedral city of Exeter with plenty of large shops, a wealth of museums, a theatre and fabulous restaurants.

Blackdown Cottage Escapes at Lower Lye is an historic Grade 2* listed medieval hall house, this property is based on the farmstead on the grounds. The holiday cottages & curtilage are therefore listed by association. The site, because of its age & heritage has many uneven, non-level surfaces. Much of the outside amenity space & paths are cobbled. There is also open water & several streams. Whilst these features add to the character & charm here & we do not wish to exclude children or those less stable on their feet, it might well be that we are not best suited to their requirements.

This property offers the following short breaks:
