  • "We would describe the property as "tired" compared to the photos."

Superficially clean, but skirting and wc etc very dirty. Critically, the outside lighting didn't work at the rear, making returns after dark dangerous. The rings on the cooker very temperamental, often not lighting. The bath towels excellent, but only one black hand towel? The bed sheet on the double bed didn’t fit. Location was excellent and we enjoyed our stay.

  • "The property is in a great location in a pretty village with two pubs, and village store just around corner."

The harbour is a short stroll down the hill. The property is well designed, proportioned and equipped for a family of 4. Gardens are very well maintained. It was cleaned to an acceptable standard. Minor point. Although there is a Cafetière a coffee machine would be nice. Overall we enjoyed the cottage very much amd would recommend.

  • "A very good cottage."

Clean and very well equipped One problem was the keys. The instructions in the file were not the same as in the email and patio door locks difficult to operate. Also there were no tea towels or black bin bags and the instructions in the file regarding waste and recycling were confusing, however we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very many thanks. • "While the bungalow was lovely clean and comfortable, access was very difficult for people with mobility problems."

Very steep steps at front and rear of the property, and no hand rail at the front. I would have been trapped if my son hadn't been there to help me. Hence my replies.

  • "We did report some of things to the house keeper as below."

Cleanliness was poor, bottom oven smoked when used, dishwasher broke down. Apart from these problems the village was very friendly, the shop was excellent and The Church House Inn very welcoming. The River Shack is a must for pizzas and great service.

We are sorry that you encountered some issues during your stay. Our housekeeper would have been more than happy to help you. The dishwasher has now been replaced. We are glad that you found the village friendly and were able to enjoy the local amenities. Property Owner

  • "We were extremely impressed with the location and the warmth of village life."

All three pubs/ watering holes are in walking distance - we ate out at all three. The Shack and The Church House Inn are highly recommend. The post office/ village stores had takeaway coffee, fresh bread, meat and morning papers, the heart of the village. 2 Dart was a lovely place to stay, the kitchen diner offers good relaxing family space, the bedrooms are spacious and lead out to the front garden which was enclosed. The only issue we had was the property was not clean or any bed lining when we arrived at 4pm. We called the number in the book and the property manger came straight away, cleaned and made the beds. We had access to the property whilst he was cleaning but remained outside until he finished at 6pm. I would return to the property.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the property and also the village and all of its amenities. We are sorry that the property was not ready when you arrived but are glad that this did not impact the enjoyment of your stay. We look forward to hopefully welcoming you back again in the future. • "DIRTY! From rotten cheese and age old crumbs in the fridge to dirty cotton pads and tissues in the bedrooms, this house needs a DEEP CLEAN!"

There were Cobwebs and dirt around the woodwork in the house. I have a dog and have had for over 12 years, I have no dog hairs on my sofa, this one was covered in them. Not to mention the big old dog poop in the middle of the front lawn - nice! The saving grace for our stay was the garden and the location, these couldn’t be faulted. Someone needs to check this house before the next renters go in. When we entered the house the smell of bleach was very strong, we think maybe it was put down the toilets to give a clean impression - it didn’t work. Also, your photos need updating, one of the reasons we chose this house was because of the leather sofa (less dog hairs in theory) and the comfy looking chairs in the lounge - they’d gone and have been replaced with what I can only describe as office chairs! Awful for 2 couples, very uncomfortable. The ‘welcome’ pack leaves a lot to be desired, no milk, just 4 biscuits, ONE teabag, no toilet rolls and opened coffee and sugar. One teabag and no milk is really insulting especially when you’ve travelled for 5 hours! Shame because the house could be so nice if someone put a bit of love and cleanliness into it.

  • "Comfy and clean and well equipped, which is what you need and expect for a good stay."

The steps from the patio into the garden are extremely steep and the three leading from the garden to the parking space even steeper - didn't realise from the description just how steep these would be. Not ideal for someone with arthritic knees, but I managed. The parking space could be better signed. The description said it was the third space available on the right. It was actually the 4th space on the right; we ended up parking next to the bins with 2D painted on them. It was only at the end of the week we noticed the tiny Two Dart name sign high up on the fence. It would be helpful if this sign were larger and in a bolder colour. At the end of a long journey the last thing you need is to faff around looking for the right space. A better name sign on the back gate would also be helpful. The cottage is well situated for visiting places of interest like Agatha Christie's home at Greenway, worth a look. The Shack was a good place to eat, an informal setting by the river with friendly staff. Also friendly folk in the shop around the corner. The narrow lanes are a challenge when you are not used to single track roads, but these almost became 2nd nature by the end of the week. We enjoyed our week here - as did our budgie! Thank you for letting us bring her.

  • "A very comfy bungalow in the perfect location."

Would definitely return. Our only niggle was that money seemed to have been saved on the welcome pack - some short bread biscuits and milk. Also on cleaning stuff - no cloths, nothing to clean the bathroom, no dish scrubs. We had to go to the local shop and buy everything. We had a lovely couple of weeks and got over it but it coloured our first few days.

The property and location were ideal for a relaxing break and the weather you supplied was wonderful!Morning coffee outside the bedroom or on the rear garden was great.House has everything you need and we felt very much at home.Perfect spot in village between the 2 pubs, the shop and Emmas restaraunt and short walk to the river .Stoke Gabriel is close enough to visit places easily just drive carefully. Only a couple of minor issues being beds being a bit soft and ants getting into bedroom with single beds, but certainly did'nt stop us from having a most enjoyable holiday.Like any property if you look close enough you will find something wrong. Thanks and look forward to returning.

The property is well equipped with everything you need, A couple of things that would have made the place better: a couple of spare loo rolls! A coffee machine would be very welcome. The welcome pack compared to other places we have stayed in was very basic, a packet of biscuits and a pint of milk. We had a lovely stay here and would recommend it.

  • "Excellent property in a beautiful village , enjoyed the week in this wonderful property and we will be back again soon."

The only negative small points were the damaged tiles over the bath/shower in the family bathroom which caused slight cut to the hand and the previous occupants leaving excessive amount of beer and wine bottles next to the bins.

  • "Need the welcome letter placed in a more open space ie table top or work top, we did not find this until the next morning under a butchers block ,as their is no signal we had trouble trying to contact our other two guests the problem being the wi-if code and not being able to find it ,could be better displayed ie on the blackboard or laminated and on display more noticeable."

They do not have a bottle collection in south hams , so people need to be aware of this as like myself bottles are left by the dustbin/ parking area , also the rubbish dustbin was full on arrival . The cottage was lovely and warm ,situated in a peaceful village and we did have a lovely stay . Thank you

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. We have asked our housekeeper to leave the welcome folder on the dining table, so that it is more visible for guests on arrival at the property. The bin collection in the whole of the South Hams has been a bit hit and miss for a while, this is due to driver issues and so affects everyone. In our information folder we do ask guests to take any bottles to a recycling point, as there is no bottle collection. We have arranged for the bottles which were left by the bin to be removed. Aside from these points we are glad that you enjoyed your stay at the property and hope that we may be able to welcome you back to the property again. Property Owner

It was very comfortable and had everything catered for. Only a couple of points that concerned us.... very steep steps in back garden from patio to grassed area and also from this area to parking area. Also, perhaps more attention needed to cleaning. The bathrooms were obviosly not cleaned around edges of floor areas. The water in the shower was slow to go down the plug hole. I took this up....it was black and filthy. I cleaned this as well as I could and replaced it. Otherwise no other issues and we enjoyed our stay.

  • "Very disappointing visit."

This was our third visit to the property and we assumed that there would be some level of consistency, we were therefore very disappointed to find that on this occasion there was: no toilet roll, no bags on any pedal bins (and none in stock), no starter dishwasher tablets, no soap in the en suite, only two hand towels in a property for four, a bedside table lamp with dud bulb and again no spares, a dirty fish smelling tea towel (only one), a tumble drier that didn't work, a toilet brush in the en suite that was broken and this was in addition to the place looking rather tired (bedroom carpet would benefit from a clean). All of these comments are rather unfortunate since that actual property has been well thought out and they would not have applied to previous visits. The missing and dirty items were particularly galling since we have a journey of over 400 miles and do not feel inclined to go shopping immediately after arrival.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to our feedback request. 2 Dart maintains very good reviews, as do all of the properties we manage; we cannot verify if we simply forgot to leave toilet rolls or not, but this is entirely possible and we apologise if this was the case. All of the bins at 2 Dart have removeable inner parts that are emptied easily and washed out afterwards. We do leave dishwasher tabs and we don’t feel that we would have missed leaving these. Despite the points raised we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at 2 Dart. Property Owner

Loved the kitchen/diner/lounge, it was really bright and open, and a good way to keep an eye on the kids. The bedrooms and bathrooms were all nicely presented and a good size. The village of Stoke Gabriel is very nice and the pub, shop and restaurant were all 1 minute walk away. Our only suggestion is the possible addition of a gate to the top of the steps leading from the patio to the garden. Only a minor detail, but means that you can leave children safely in the garden as ours had a tendency to want to play on the steps.
