  • "We had fabuous week staying at Harbourside."

When we first arrived and explored inside it was just WOW! The apartment was surprisingly spacious, spotlessly clean, had quality furnishings and everything you could need. And of course, that view! The bed was very comfortable and so was the sofa, there was plenty of hot water and the heating kept us cosy and warm. There was a PIR light outside which was useful when returning in the dark. Yes there were steps to the property: they were fairly wide and easy to use with a good hand rail, and well lit. It was a bit of an effort to unload and load, but so worth it for the quality of accommodation - we're in our 70s and managed just fine. The view was wonderful both from the lounge and the main bedroom - right on the river, you could sit and watch all day - the ferries, fishing & sailing boats, even some hardy swimmers! And wonderful ever-changing skies. We had no problem with rubbish or recycyling, it was all quite straightforward. It's just a 5 minute walk to the town centre, and there are lots of walks from the door, either along the prom to the upper ferry or down to the castle. We were quite lucky with the weather (early March) - mostly sunny with a cold wind. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our week staying at Harbourside and would love to return.

Everything contained in the Apartment that were needed. It was clean. Bed was comfortable. Location is brilliant. Having the parking permit was brilliant. Steps to go down would be hard for those with mobility problems though or young children.

  • "We very much like Harbourside and are big fans of Dartmouth."

It's really really useful having a local Coast & Country office based in Dartmouth itself with very friendly and knowledgeable local staff like Paula and Morgan and all the other team members, who know each property in great detail. Result is infinitely better than talking to a call centre hundreds of miles away with people who have never visited Devon let alone the property you have booked! Well done team!

  • "Wonderful location with fabulous views across the estuary but access is not easy for those with mobility difficulties nor for those that find carrying items up and down stairs difficult."

However once you are there it is so worth it ! Beautifully equipped apartment - I could not fault the kitchen Really delightful 'feel' to the place and a short walk into town Tiny niggles only - needed more black sacks for rubbish - as all waste must be put in black sacks Would've liked a sensor operated light on the outside of the building for return to the apartment in the dark and the rain. Quite dodgy in total blackness

Thank you for your feedback, we are so glad to hear that you enjoyed the property. I am sorry that you found it was not easily accessible. With most of Dartmouth on different levels, and many properties up steps, we always take the time to put these details in the properties description. Please always feel free to contact the local Dartmouth office where we can advise on the best places to stay with mobility issues. As a self catering property, we always provide 2 black sacks as a starter pack. We are sorry if this was not the case. We will pass your feedback to the owner to get a light installed. We do hope to see you in Dartmouth again soon. Property Owner

  • "Harbourside was a wonderful find."

We spent many happy hours sitting in the bay window watching the boats going up and down the river, and the ferries crossing back and forth to Kingswear. The property was very comfortable and warm, well equipped kitchen and bathrooms. We didn't know Dartmouth, so were surprised to find the apartment was closer to the town centre than we expected - a very easy walk. Don't be put off by the description of how many steps you need to climb to reach it, as long as you're careful it's well worth the effort. We would definitely stay there again.

  • "Our forth visit to harbourside, we love the property and the terrific views."

A little disappointing that we couldn’t enjoy having a shower in the main shower room for a large part of the holiday as the shower drain required unblocking.Having arrived on the Friday we reported it first thing on the Monday morning as we didn’t consider it an emergency but we were told all plumbers were busy on emergency calls and we would be contacted the next day.Disappointingly we had to call again on the Wednesday to once again request the drain to be unblocked before this was done, although we could use the shower in the spare bedroom this was a lot smaller than the main shower room which slightly spoiled our experience.Since we have been coming here we have noticed more stains on the carpets which is natural with the amount of people using the apartment has but perhaps consideration could be given to steam cleaning these to freshen them up. All things considered we will return again as we absolutely love the location and the property.

  • "When I arrived at Harbourside and entered the property, the views from the living room and bedroom window were breathtaking – even better than the photos."

You could literally stay there all day and look out at the River Dart watching all the yachts, Cruise liners, paddleboats and activity on the water. I felt I was part of the water – it was that close. The property was spotless and everything you needed was provided. If I could have stayed longer, I would have and I will definitely rebook this property. Stunning.

  • "Maintenance of the property used to be better."

In the sitting room, around the south facing window, on the carpet, there are a lot of particules in the carpet one cannot get rid off. No matter how much vacuuming you do. The carpet in that area seems to be desolving itself or something like that.

The only problem is the door lock, difficult to get the key in the lock! My main problem is being unable to talk to the Dartmouth office, not allowed apparently. That is upsetting as I know some of the staff. It really is putting me off booking. Christine Peckham

You can relax and unwind without using the car. On nice days you can sit and enjoy the views from the balcony with a glass of wine and on the not so good days enjoy the vows from the bay window, A great place to stay with family or friends thank you.

  • "Wonderful apartment with a fantastic view within an easy walking distance of Dartmouth."

Really good to have a parking permit supplied for our whole stay as spaces are very much at a premium there. Great too to have such a fantastic amount of crockery, and the table mats were a nice touch (and so often missed elsewhere). Would be handy to have a microwaveable container for heating milk etc for drinks - nothing said the mugs/cups/bowls could go in the microwave so we were worried to do so (and therefore didn’t!). Not a reflection on the accommodation but we were surprised the local council didn’t seem to provide much to help recycle…we placed our bottles and paper in the skips in Mayor’s Avenue carpark, but although we also saved our plastics and cardboard, there was nowhere to put them (or if there was it wasn’t signposted). All that said, we’d definitely like to return to Dartmouth and especially Harbourside! Thank you so much.

What a super review. Thank you so much. Indeed the council doesn't do well for recycling, but the private contractor we use recycles everything put in the black sack. We would be delighted to welcome you again to Harbourside. Property Owner

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth.
