    “Excellently presented cottage.”

The owners were extremely helpful and welcoming who went out of their way to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Little touches like the welcome provisions were very thoughtful and appreciated.

A wooden construction by Swedish experts, this detached Devon cottage sits on the site of an old sheep shearing shed.

On the grounds of the owners' farmhouse, Fig Tree Cottage has its own private driveway, with far-reaching, stunning, countryside views and spacious rooms, ideal for a family looking to enjoy a cottage holiday in Devon.

There is a sitting room with lovely oak floor, warming wood-burning stove and large TV with surround sound.

The kitchen/dining room is a bright, sunny room overlooking the picturesque garden.

The garden is west-facing and during the summer months the sunsets are breath-taking.

Even in peak summertime this part of Mid Devon is tranquil and quiet.

A walk up the lane reveals a different, but equally stunning, view from every gateway.

Just one mile down the lane from the cottage, is Bickleigh Mill, a historic water mill, café and gift shop, where you can spend the day dining alfresco by the River Exe.

The cottage is situated within easy driving distance of both Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks.

Visit one of the many National Trust houses in the area surrounding your Devon cottage, or visit the small market town of Tiverton nearby.

Explore the historic city of Exeter with its impressive cathedral, excellent shopping malls, galleries, bars and restaurants.

One of Devon’s most photographed villages with its thatched cottages and lovingly tended gardens, Bickleigh is in a beautiful riverside setting in the rich agricultural area of the Exe Valley. Bickleigh’s unique five-arched bridge has spanned the River Exe since 1630 and is reputedly the inspiration for Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge over Troubled Water”. Bickleigh Mill is an historic 18th century working mill now developed into a popular and exciting rural shopping, eating and recreational destination where visitors can relax by the river. Railway enthusiasts will enjoy the Devon Railway Centre and Model World housed in the Victorian station buildings, with fifteen different working model layouts and train rides on a narrow gauge line.
