  • "A brilliant property, ideally situated with a pub just through a garden gate."

Ideal for our 2 dogs who really enjoyed stretching their legs in the big (& safe) garden. Plenty of room inside so we were not getting in each others way. I highly recommend this property.

  • "Really pleased with accommodation."

The only minor criticisms we have are a few more cups and smaller glasses would have been better as you have more than one drink between dishwasher uses. Probably a false economy anyway as dishwasher consequently goes on more frequently and only half full, using more energy. Frying pan needs replacing. Some of utensils didn't seem appropriate for hob which might get scratched. These are relatively minor points and we really loved the property.

  • "We had an amazing long weekend at Riverside lodge."

The dog thoroughly enjoyed herself too! The Lodge was perfect - very clean and comfortable. A pleasure to come back to after a long day of walking. The only problem was we couldn’t find the cutlery, so spent the weekend with plenty of knives, no forks and a spoon.

Thank you for your lovely comments and so glad you enjoyed your weekend in Riverside Lodge. Thanks for bringing this to our attention and we would have been happy to direct you to the cutlery drawer had you contacted us. We thought you might be intrigued to know it was in a labelled drawer immediately under the hob, however, we do appreciate your feedback and have put a larger sign in to make it more clear. • "Riverside Lodge was a perfect location for week-long family get-together."

The property is as good as the photos show it to be. Plenty of light and roomy living space, comfortable beds, and all the facilities you could possibly need in catering for yourself. The outside space is just as great. Plenty of parking, table and chairs to dine-out in the sunshine and nearly a "football pitch size" lawn for the kids or dog to enjoy. This is a perfect place for a peaceful escape, but with the convenience of the pub just across the stream, Exmoor & Dunster Castle no distance away, and all that Minehead offers just 6 miles down the road. Who could ask for more! We'd go again any time.

The enclosed garden is ideal for dogs - we have two springers and they could run around as much as they liked and we didn’t have to worry about them getting out. Staying in the winter this time the heating system is great as you set the temperature in each room so as you never need to change it - I would definitely recommend this property to everyone

Overall we had a fabulous break. The lodge has 3 generous sized double rooms with ensuite. The garden is large and dog friendly with a large lawned area which suited our schnauzers who played safely and did not escape!. The lodge is in a quiet peaceful location in a small village next door to the pub, accessed through a connecting gate. We were not disturbed by noise from any of our neighbours and the pub served delicious food so it was a win win situation for us. There was a local cider farm just a 5 minute walk away which also had a selection of farm animals, a children's play area and a cafe. The location was ideal for Minehead, Porlock, Exmoor, Taunton all within a short drive. We will definitely consider returning and recommend to others

The cleanliness was noticeable in every aspect of the house- it just sparkled!! All the en-suite bedrooms have so much storage space as well, this lodge has been well thought out when it was built, which makes a lovely change. The garden is ideal for dogs- it’s like a paddock. My two dogs loved it there! There is a long private drive upto the lodge so plenty of parking for cars and also a private side gate (which you lock/unlock yourself) to the pub beer garden next door!! The food at the pub was fantastic and the staff were very friendly and helpful- overall I couldn’t of asked for a more amazing place to stay- I would definitely recommend a visit if you can get booked in that is!!!

It was in a beautiful private setting surrounded by fields and trees and a variety of native wildlife. The Lodge itself was exceptional. The kitchen, complete with island, had all you could need if you intended to stay in and cook. Unlike previous reviews we found more than enough glasses, crockery and pans and the turnaround on the dishwasher was very quick if you were planning on a three course meal for 6. The beds were comfortable and the showers excellent. The tv's worked in all of the rooms. There was a door in the fence that lead straight into the public house next door - "The White Horse" - which was a lovely, and old style, coaching inn. The food was excellent and we ate there six days out of seven, only missing one day because we had already booked an Indian Restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. Yes, there is the odd niggle, but to be honest they are so small that they aren't worth mentioning, and you'd have to be really picky to be disappointed! We would go again, and we would recommend to our friends.

  • "Really nice large house on a very large block of land."

Secluded quiet and comfortable, let down by poor cleaning and maintenance. Windows filthy on the inside - glue from stickers still on glass etc. Carpets covered in hairs and other bits - cupboard door handle missing in one case, and came off in your hand in another. Room 8 door has no catch so can only be closed by locking it. Bath tap falls off. Room 6 - No soap dish in shower and slippery shower floor would benefit from an anti slip mat. Heating instructions are impossible to understand or use. Heater control in room 7 and in front hall do not work at all. Inadequate instructions for TVs - it is necessary to use Sky, or nothing works, but there was nothing to advise this. No gas BBQ as listed in the contents. Owners were surprised to be asked to provide a change of linen after one week - we stayed 2 weeks. ‘There is a washing machine’ was their first response. Consumables - toilet paper, J-clothes for kitchen, tea towels were in short supply. I would still recommend this house but advise visitors to be prepared to do more washing and cleaning than they might have expected when on holiday.

  • "The Lodge was just as the pictures so lots of space for 6 adults and a dog."

There was an enclosed paved area at the back of the house for the dog if needed. We didn’t have a problem with the cleanliness of the Lodge on arrival, it wasn’t 100% perfect but I don’t think I’ve stayed in any that are. We ate in the pub across the road a few nights which was very handy and used the Co-op in Williton for food other nights. It wasn’t a big supermarket but sufficient for our needs and saved the trip into Minehead. The steam train station was a 12-15 mins easy walk from the Lodge and we got a weekly ticket so used it to visit Minehead, Dunster & Watchet, and also for walks between stations or back to the Lodge so we found plenty to keep us occupied without using the car which was a bonus. We managed to work the TV in the lounge but forgot to leave a note to say the TVs in the other rooms all need retuning so we couldn’t use them. The only suggestions we would make to improve the Lodge was 1) to add towel rails. There were heated towel rails in the bathrooms but they don’t really fit two bath towels and a hand towel on when they have been used. And 2) Some more crockery would help if using the dishwasher, we had to wash cups and bowls on the days we ate out as there were only enough for one drink & breakfast. But overall we’d recommend the Lodge to others.

Facilities were good and the bedrooms with en-suite were perfect. Situated over the road from a pub which you could not see or hear and was very convenient. • "The cottage is very nicely decorated with a brilliant outdoor area to enjoy in the nice weather."

The local pub is literally on the doorstep of the cottage and offers a good variety of food and drinks. The large garden was great when the weather was nice and good for our dog to have a run around in. We do however appreciate that although not an issue for ourselves with an older dog but the garden itself was not entirely secure and could be troublesome with a younger more mischievous dog. There was some very nice walks from the property for example the one into the Marina. There are a selection of large supermarkets in nearby Minehead to remain equipped for the trip. A minor issue that we found with the property was that the televisions were often difficult to operate particularly those in the two living rooms we struggled to control the televisions and for most of our trip they remained switched off. With regards to the overall area, depending on what you are looking for from the trip the wider area at times felt lacking in things to do over the week long period, for a long weekend I think we would have been fine but at times over the week we were struggling to find things to do. This is not a negative of the house itself just from our personal experience and what we were looking to get out of the trip. Overall a very enjoyable week in a beautiful lodge.

It is situated next The White Horse Pub which was very good for food and drinks, everyone was very friendly and helpful. Our only criticism was that on arrival we found that the Lodge was not very clean. We had to dust and clean several surfaces, it appeared that upstairs had not been hoovered and each of the EnSite's were dirty with hairs being found in each one, also we found 3 dirty tea towels in the washing machine. We did call our contacts to explain the situation and they did come to clean the one of the toilets very reluctantly, they tried to say that we had caused the problems even though we had only just arrived, there was no apology. They can get through the fence and out on to the road!! Perhaps the.owners could put some netting round.the bottom which would be good. The whole Lodge is very luxurious and having en suite bedrooms is a bonus. The shower door in one of the bathrooms doesn't shut properly. We'd recommend visits to Dunster, Blue Anchor beach, Weston super mare, Horner woods, and Burridge Woods. Great for walking dogs. The house was not very clean and in some cases very dirty! Kitchen - The fridge was not clean, remnants of other occupants, half a carton of milk out of date as well as a full one out of date. The two ovens - all shelves were full of grease as was one of the trays, cooker hood also had not been cleaned for some time. The house also has a long snagging list which seemed to get longer by the day. After spending a considerable amount of time cleaning after arrival the house was in an acceptable state. I could go on but i think you get the impression. The house feels unloved and uncared for, this is a real shame as its a lovely place to stay and would not take long to present in a beautiful way. There were 6 adults in our group and we all felt the same way.

Firstly thank you for choosing to use our property Riverside Lodge. I'm pleased you took the time to leave feedback but am disappointed that it did not meet your expectations. There is no excuse for cleanliness, however there are contact numbers left in the owners manual for our cleaning team should there be any problems. After checking records my team assure me they did not receive any calls in regards to cleanliness. As a result of your experience I would like to assure you and future guests that cleanliness is something that I personally expect to be 100% and as such will make it clearer what to do should there be an issue. Not only will the property managers details remain in the owners manual I will print up and frame contact details in the kitchen. Again I'm sorry that it did not meet your expectations but thank you for bringing this to my attention. Property Owner

The lounge is huge and very comfortable. Having 3 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms is a bonus too. Having the pub over the road was great too. The area is so lovely, Lymington is superb, and a trip to Selworthy is a must to eat in Periwinkle Cottage. Horner has a Nature Reserve Wood, which was great for our dogs. The only things we would mention is that the fencing around the garden wasn't fully secure for our dogs. They could get through underneath. Perhaps the owners would consider putting some wire netting around the bottom, which would deter dogs getting through. We found only being provided with one tea towel wasn’t enough for 4 people cooking and cleaning up! Dishwasher tabs and more toilet rolls would’ve been handy too, and hooks on the bedroom doors. We feel the saucepans, frying pans and wok ought to be replaced as they were awful, and in our opinion not fit to cook in, and a health hazard! The above are not criticisms, but helpful comments, and we would love to return to Riverside Lodge another time.

Thank you for your comments. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the accommodation and that you found the area lovely. The owner has confirmed there are welcome items provided on arrival such as dishwasher tablets, hand soap, one toilet roll per bathroom and milk. As it is a self catering holiday the items provided are only there ready for your arrival, anything further will need to provided by guests.
