  • "The apartment was spacious and clean."

We had a lovely time and would highly recommend it. To arrive and find a cake, bottle of wine and a carton of milk in the fridge was a nice surprise. We have already booked again!

  • "First stay in this apartment, regular visitors to the Causeway, terrace is huge and really fab for relaxing and dining with the best views!"

Really well equipped apartment. Would like to see the health club review the restrictions still in place as the pool is a big reason for choosing the location and having to book is boring for the kids especially when you see it empty because people haven't turned up for their spot.

  • "The accommodation exceeded our expectations."

I would definitely recommend this property. We look forward to making another booking in the not too distant future. It was spotless with everything you needed. Particularly impressed with the quality of all furnishings. The temperature in the property was spot on on too. A stunning location with beautiful sunsets - and the weather was very kind to us despite it being March. Thank you for a memorable and relaxing break much needed after the two strange years we have all experienced.

  • "We have stayed in this apartment a number of times previously and it is still fantastic."

The wine, cake and milk for when we arrived was a nice touch and greatly appreciated. It's a shame that the bbq has now been removed and banned from the complex next year but that's a relatively small inconvenience, with the owner contacting us in advance so we were aware.

Friendly, helpful and amazing food and service. Did not have to cook breakfast, lunch dinner all week. Yeah

  • "A fantastic apartment in a wonderful location with the most amazing views."

We never got tired of watching the tide come in and out and the scenery was beautiful in the sun, but still exciting and dramatic in the rain and wind. The apartment was perfect - with all modern conveniences, very clean and comfortable - even better than in the pictures and the best self catering place we have ever stayed in. We can't wait to go back!

  • "It was the best place we have ever booked by far."

The apartment was spacious, comfortable and set in a perfect location. What could be better than having your morning cuppa on your own terrace looking at the wonderful view?

  • "We had another brillant stay at this lovely apartment in a fantastic location."

The owner contacted us prior to our visit and provided a BBQ for us to use whilst we were there, which we used on a number of occasions and was much appreciated. We'll be back again, with luck.

  • "The apartments are superb but the response time from Helpful Holidays/Sykes Cottages is very poor, emails are ignored."

It was only thanks to the owners that our questions were answered & we were made aware of significant changes to the arrangements at Burgh Island Causeway

  • "This is our third holiday in this apartment which speaks for itself."

It is perfect and we hope to book again for 2020. Our grandchildren have a super time going to the beach, visiting the shop and swimming in the pool and it is a real plus to be able to go to the restaurant each evening. Simply a great holiday experience.

Really enjoyed the bistro food was great and wine reasonably priced, it would be good to see other apartments use it more! Apartment two is beautifully positioned and we loved the sunny days we were able to sit on the terrace. We needed advice on the heating and had very good service from Carol and Tom.

About the location

BIGBURY-ON-SEA

Modbury 6 miles; Plymouth 12 miles.

Bigbury-on-Sea is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is ideal for family holidays. Dusted with sand and lapped by shallow waters, the beach offers safe fun for groups particularly if you’ve got children in tow. In addition, Bigbury-on-Sea beach is dotted with rock pools, so there’s plenty of entertainment for budding marine biologists. There’s also a wide and varied selection of watersports available to visitors who prefer their holidays to feature a little adrenaline rush. Windsurfing and kite-surfing are popular here, with hire facilities located right on the beach. To give you some peace of mind, there are lifeguards present at Bigbury-on-Sea beach during May to September and the beach also has a first-aid room. You can even take the dog onto the beach, although they are restricted to certain areas during the summer. Bigbury’s most famous landmark is Burgh Island, which overlooks the beach itself. The island is accessible at low tide, when the waters reveal a causeway that links it to the beach. However, when the tide is in you can still reach the island by hitching a ride on the popular and unique ‘sea tractor’. Burgh Island boasts an award-winning hotel, elegant and rather genteel, it’s an ideal romantic retreat for couples. Explore the South Devon coast with its fabulous sandy beaches and its breathtakingly beautiful coastal path or simply take time to visit some of the charming estuary towns and villages dotted throughout the area, such as Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. The city of Plymouth and the wild open spaces of Dartmoor are also both close at hand.
