We stayed in November (before the cold snap) and despite being quite hardy people found the apartment chilly during the day and evening. Perhaps the underfloor heating could be programmed to be a little warmer for a little longer whilst letting during the colder months. Apart from that this is a great place to stay. Reviewed by MoyaNov 2023 "We had a wonderful week in this lovely apartment." It was spotlessly clean and tastefully presented and of course the view is incredible. Reviewed by JoanOct 2023 "Fabulous , comfortable, well maintained and clean Apartment with everything you need for your stay provided and the most amazing views!" ! Outside table and sun loungers to enjoy the spectacular scenery. Good comms for arrival, key collection and departure details. We were fortunate that we had brilliant weather and the walks, beaches and scenery locally were stunning especially from the top of the island. We have fallen in love with this location and have already booked again. The lanes are tight to drive down with only passing bays in places so best to try to avoid busy times and use the A roads as less stressful but you have to use the lanes from A379 as it’s the only Road to get to Bigbury on Sea. Locally there are only a few shops , one is the beach shop that does sell some lovely souvenirs and a small Nisa food shop on the campsite in the next bay, Holywell Stores is in St Anne’s Chapel, so either come prepared or expect to drive the lanes again to get supplies. I think that some information in the apartment on what is nearby i.e locally produced produce, Farm Shops, farmers markets / days etc would be useful and also if they deliver ? We had a few meals out in the leisure club and Pilchards Inn and enjoyed both restaurants the food was very good - both need reservations for dinner, the staff in both were very friendly . The Venus Cafe on the beach lower car park was also lovely for a breakfast, coffee and a cheeky ice cream! Lots of people had dogs and the beach is perfect for them! The sea tractor is interesting to watch coming back and forth as the tide comes in and out over the causeway and worth a ride for the experience, time it right and you can just walk across to the Island and the pub which always seemed popular, you do pay a deposit on the plastic glass if you sit outside but is refunded if you return. Only small niggle - the BBQ’s / fires on the beach - when they were below the apartment the smoke drifted onto the patio and into the apartment if the doors were open, so a little annoying but it was mainly at the weekend. Honestly, you won’t be disappointed with the apartment or location we had a wonderful relaxing time , highly recommended and can’t wait to return ! Reviewed by VivienSep 2023 "Our third time in this wonderful apartment." We love the terrace as opposed to the smaller balconies so snap this apartment up whenever we can! It is very comfortable and well equipped particularly the kitchen. We would have liked an additional door key and contacted the manager who just said it had been lost and no further help was offered. We also had to ask for the windows keys so we could lock them due to having an autistic child, this was provided but unfortunately the window lock in the bedroom our daughter was sleeping was broken. Also disappointed that the additional door into the shower room/toilet from the corridor has been made into a cupboard meaning you have to enter the bathroom via the bedroom so even if someone was asleep you still needed to go through the bedroom. The apartment was immaculately clean, wonderfully comfortable and very well equipped with everything we could possibly need. The views are magnificent and it was glorious to sit on the balcony to have our meals and soak in the sun. Reviewed by RuthJun 2023 "A wonderful apartment." The view is exceptional, eating breakfast will never be the same again. All the rooms were beautifully presented and the entire complex was well maintained and cared for. The variety of entertainment, books, DVDs and games was appriciated, especially on the wild wet days, when we could not go out for long walks. The gifts of wine and chocolate cake were very thoughtful. Thank you to everyone. Reviewed by PamelaMar 2023 "This apartment is a real home from home." The owner has thought of everything including plenty of books, dvds and games. The standard of facilities is top notch and it is spotlessly clean. The view is beautiful and the pool and club are welcome. Reviewed by RosemaryNov 2022 "We really enjoyed our week here." The apartment was lovely, clean and cosy. It was spotless, spacious and had everything we needed, and more. We met the lovely owners, who fixed a very small problem immediately. Would certainly recommend Sykes and the property. Reviewed by FrancesJun 2022 "The apartment is lovely with a fantastic view." We were welcomed with a bottle of wine and chocolate cake. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked again for next year. The only slight complaint is that there was smell of damp in the shower room. Really well equipped apartment. Would like to see the health club review the restrictions still in place as the pool is a big reason for choosing the location and having to book is boring for the kids especially when you see it empty because people haven't turned up for their spot. Reviewed by SamanthaApr 2022 "The accommodation exceeded our expectations." I would definitely recommend this property. We look forward to making another booking in the not too distant future. It was spotless with everything you needed. Particularly impressed with the quality of all furnishings. The temperature in the property was spot on on too. A stunning location with beautiful sunsets - and the weather was very kind to us despite it being March. Thank you for a memorable and relaxing break much needed after the two strange years we have all experienced. Reviewed by LynneMar 2022 "We have stayed in this apartment a number of times previously and it is still fantastic." The wine, cake and milk for when we arrived was a nice touch and greatly appreciated. It's a shame that the bbq has now been removed and banned from the complex next year but that's a relatively small inconvenience, with the owner contacting us in advance so we were aware. We never got tired of watching the tide come in and out and the scenery was beautiful in the sun, but still exciting and dramatic in the rain and wind. Burgh Island View Apartments Just 20 yards from Bigbury-on-Sea's big and splendid sandy beach, looking to Burgh Island Causeway, are 29 stunning, high quality apartments, of which we let a number. Within the same building are excellent leisure facilities and a restaurant. The views over the sea to the south and west, and at low tide of a vast expanse of smooth washed yellow sand reaching to Burgh Island, are outstanding. The island's jolly pub, The Pilchard, is fun to visit (long-legged sea tractor at high tide). All the apartments, which are privately owned and individually furnished, have those sensational views, and are wonderfully light, with large, airy open-plan living/dining/kitchens and glazed doors to balconies or terraces. The smallish bedrooms, at the back (without views), have good quality en suite bath or shower-rooms. The apartment building is three-storey. Most apartments have easy access (short walk from parking and between 5 and 9 steps down to the lift). The ground floor (still high above the beach) apartments have big terraces, the first and top floor apartments have very good-sized balconies. The leisure facilities, which are free for guests to use and open from 10am every day (except Christmas Day), include a fine indoor swimming pool (40' x 20' x 4'6"), spa pool, well-equipped gym (treadmill, steps, cycles, Concept II Rower and other instruments of torture) and sauna (no children under 14 in gym or sauna). There are changing rooms, a shower and disabled loo. The Club restaurant/smart bar, is open 10am to 9pm during the High Season, reservations recommended (for all other times of the year, please contact the Leisure Centre for opening times), serves excellent food throughout the day, with a popular dinner menu which varies daily and themed evenings. You can also order meals to take to your apartment. The comfy lounging area has sofas and WiFi, and the sunny outdoor terrace faces the sea. Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
