  • "A wonderful well equipped cottage close to all amenities."

Generous welcome package was very much appreciated. Very clean and a fabulous view across the harbour. Ray responded really quickly to a query. Stairs as described but hasn’t put us off wanting to book again (and we’re not spring chickens!). Would highly recommend.

Thank you for your kind comments. We appreciate that you have taken the time to give feedback. Thank you so much for the way you left the cottage. It makes it all worthwhile when lovely people like you, enjoy your stay in The Old Lighthouse Cottage, Watchet. Kind regards Ray. Property Owner

  • "Excellent location!"

Just behind the esplanade pub. Beds were comfy. Lovely food and drink package left (milk, butter, bread, cheese, Prosecco). They also had teas and coffee. Beautiful views from the kitchen/ living room space Main bathroom was a little small if I had to criticise, however the shower was lovely and hot and powerful! There is no wardrobe in the ground floor bedroom, however there are drawers under the bed and also a hanging rail with a few hangers to use

Thank you Lee for your positive feedback. I am pleased that you enjoyed Watchet and The Old Lighthouse Cottage. Kind regards Ray. Property Owner

  • "It's a lovely property."

As described. Great to have some provisions awaiting us. Booked car parking was a bonus. Maybe just explain that the expiry time is flexible? Good communication. Perhaps a checkout time of 11am would be better. The bundles of local info were very useful but didn't see them at first tucked away in the corner. Thanks for everything.

Thank you Alastair for your kind words about The Old Lighthouse Cottage. The checkout time is set at 10.00am to allow our cleaner time to prepare for our next guests. Thank you for the exceptional way in which you left the property which was very much appreciated by our cleaner. Kind regards Ray. Property Owner

The property has everything you think you might need plus more! From a sewing kit to a batterie de cuisine and great sea views from the upstairs living area. Ray, the owner was lovely and sorted out our week long car park permit, flickering light bulb and gave us some helpful recommendations for places to visit - thanks again Ray. The locals are friendly and there are so many eateries and pubs that even my vegan husband was well suited!

Thank you so much Nicola, for your lovely feedback, it makes it all worthwhile when lovely holiday makers like yourselves enjoy The Old lighthouse cottage as much as you both did. Kind regards Ray. Property Owner

It was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The upside down layout afforded great views over the harbour. Ray was very kind and helpful. A welcome pack was there on arrival and was generous and much appreciated. Watchet itself is a charming place with friendly people. It was within easy access of beaches, Exmoor and plenty of places to visit. There are lots of information leaflets and even OS maps to use if you are walking. We had a lovely holiday. Thank you!

  • "Lovely reverse level quirky cottage with sea views I have to start by mentioning that the welcome goodies were truly amazing, not just essentials until able to get to the supermarket but generous quantities of everything you could think of including drinks The accommodation is very comfortable, lovely spacious king bedroom on the ground floor with en suite facilities."

There’s a further twin bedroom on the first floor. The upstairs bedroom is very light and airy with windows front and side. Both bedrooms have tea, coffee making facilities, again in abundance. The large modern shower room is on the landing. Then up a further flight of stairs takes you to an airy spacious open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area. This is a lovely double aspect room with amazing sea views where the windows open at both back and front of the property making it fresh and cool in the hot weather we have had recently. It takes less than a minute to walk to the Esplanade where all nature of events take place and you never miss an event because you can hear what is going on if you have the windows open. Further to the comments from a previous visitor to this cottage regarding his dog having difficulty with the upper flight of stairs, I accept that a dashound may struggle, not particularly because of its age, but mainly its short legs as the top flight of stairs are a bit steeper, which Sykes clearly mentions on their site. We had our 13 year old border collie with us and she not only managed the stairs ok, but loved lying at the top where she could watch us from her vantage point. A further advantage with this cottage is that parking is included on any of the 6 car parks in the village. We unloaded the car outside the cottage and then parked on the nearest car park where there was always plenty of availability. The presentation of this accommodation by the owners is a credit to them so I thank them for a lovely holiday in their spotlessly clean cottage.

It was lovely to meet you both and we are delighted that you loved The Old Lighthouse Cottage and Watchet. Thank you very much for your review. Property Owner

  • "The property location is wonderful."

Ray we spoke to a couple of times was most helpful. We thank him for the generous welcome goodies what a treat. However the description of the property was misleading. The stairs leading to the third floor living space are challenging to say the least. Our elderly daschund needed lifting up and down and on those stairs was a dangerous and difficult thing to do. In our opinion this cottage should come with a warning, and an advisory to physically challenged renters. Not pooch friendly. Booking with Sykes as always is easy and efficient. Watchet provides for all our holiday needs and we will be returning next year. If Sykes has other properties in the harbour I would like to book for next year.

Hi Sara ,sorry your elderly daschund had trouble with climbing the stairs at the cottage . The cottage is on three levels as described on the Sykes site, the two flights of stairs meet with building regulation. Thanks for the positive in your message. Ray. Property Owner

The welcome pack was more than generous and the owner had arranged free parking a short distance from the cottage. The owner contacted us early on during our stay to ask if we had settled in ok and was there anything else we needed, which we thought was a really nice touch.
