  • "We mostly enjoyed our much needed break at the barn which was in a lovely, rural location."

The owners were friendly and helpful and it was perfect for the 2 of us and our dog. Just a couple of niggles that need noting, we had to thoroughly clean the shower cubicle as there was a lot of black mould where the door track meets the shower tray and on the shower head and the plug in the basin only worked by pulling the bar at the back of the pedestal. Also, we did not use the microwave as, although we cleaned it out, the inside of the oven looked rusty and passed it's sell buy date.

  • "This is the second time I have stayed at High Park Barn and I shall certainly be visiting again."

The welcome I received from the owners was excellent and they checked during the week to ensure that I was happy and had all that I needed. Uffculme is a delightful village with excellent walks in the area.

Lovely walks along the lanes from the cottage including a lovely river walk (as long as you avoid the cow pats). A central location to head off in all directions for good days out.

I wish I could buy the cottage and move in! Very comfortable and cosy, surrounded by country lanes and yet near enough to civilisation to access everything we need. We will return one day!

  • "While the property was generally clean, I discovered, on stripping the bed a disgusting previously soiled pillow, which I would have disposed of had it been mine."

The bed springs were uncomfortable. The sofa needed replacing, very uncomfortable, it dipped in the middle. The family next door were pleasant and helpful.

Enclosed courtyard was a brilliant size, great to have with a dog and not overlooked. Use of the field behind was also appreciated.

A super barn conversion which felt homely and gave us everything we needed. A lovely rural setting with plenty of shops and pubs nearby. Our little dog has a super holiday too and loved running around the field! We highly recommended this place and hope to return ourselves.

  • "As others have said."

..a full size dishwasher is not needed in a cottage for 2 people. With Covid 19 and the need to wash face coverings and the British weather a washing machine would have been useful. Otherwise a lovely quiet retreat from the stresses of life at this moment. Owners pleasant and helpful but not intrusive.

  • "Looking at the picture of barn we thought it was detached and a little more isolated."

However owner was a lovely man and the barn was very clean. Bed had a firm mattress and I felt it was a little too firm however my partner who suffers from a bad back had lovely nights sleep. So this obviously varies on the individuals choice. As does my feeling that a washing machine may have been more beneficial than a family sized dishwasher for 2 people. I say this because there are some lovely walks down by the river and we had to wash trousers that were muddy in the sink on return back to the barn. Small fenced of courtyard was a bonus for the dog and secure. All in all lovely place and lovely owner.

Kindly left us some provisions which was kind of them. The cottage is very small. Would probably chose something bigger next time. Only 1 small sofa and a rocking chair to sit on. Very dog friendly which our dog really enjoyed the break away also.

  • "Although there was a rear access and it was unavoidable, the front door head was lower than would be expected due to the buildings age, and if you are a tall person then great care should be taken entering this way ."

Otherwise the barn was a great place to explore the area situated roughly equally between the north and south coasts

The location was spot on - very rural but also on the outskirts of a charming village. We couldn’t fault it. We had our Jack Russell with us and he enjoyed his holiday as well. We would definitely book again.

It was exactly what we wanted and where we wanted to be. I thought the listing showed a DVD player but there wasn't one but there was WIFI. The owners were very pleasant people and very friendly and helpful. They left us a few essentials which were very much appreciated. The bed was extremely comfortable.

The added bonus was the sucure back yard for the dog to play in whilst we enjoyed a glass of wine in the sun trap. Plenty of nice lesurely walks in the area especially down by the river. We found the barn made for an exelent base when attending an event at Westpoint in Exeter, itself being less than 10min from the motorway and 30 min from the venue. I hope enyone else who goes on my recommendation enjoys it as much as we did.
