The first time I came home early The weather was awful the television didn’t work The garden was definitely not dog friendly The log burner had broken glass and the heating system was rubbish I did complain and listed my complaints Because of its location I tried again and gradually it’s improved The heating is excellent Redecorated New television Log burner refurbished Garden is dog secure Loved my last stay How could it be improved? There is 3rd bedroom upstairs which is locked Possible to convert to a en-suite? Would help old buggers like me

  • "Having read all the reviews for this cottage I was a bit unsure what to expect."

However, I had a lovely holiday. The cottage is so warm and comfortable. Being able to walk straight out of the garden on to the heathland is a huge bonus. I have been coming to Studland for many years and it is the most beautiful place. A perfect place for people and dogs with miles of beach, dunes, heathland and downs walks. I had no problem with the downstairs bathroom, although I do suggest you leave the downstairs hall light on at night. Thank you

Also the main boiler is in one of the bedroom cupboards and kept us awake a lot of the night. We Wouldnt t go to this cottage again. Everything else was ok dog friendly garden. But sleep is very important having a boiler going off hissing through the night wasn’t great and disturbed sleep . Plus nuisance factor Of downstairs bathroom. Apart from that the cottage was satisfactory for our need well equipped.

Inside, the shower has such a poor flow rate when you are able to get the right temperature you dare not move it.Quite a few of the doors in the house have swollen and are hard to open and close. The stable back door needs a lot of help to close and lock. Many of the kitchen unit doors need a little work to say the least!. It’s situated very close to the beautiful beaches at Studland which we adore. It’s comfortable and we feel relaxed and at home here. We love all the nautical and beach pictures and treasures around the cottage too - very homely. Thank you for a wonderful week - we hope to come back again sometime next year!

One other point to mention that should have been included in the description is that it is a downstairs bathroom. Would have been appropriate to mention this for elderly guests.

Only negative was the downstairs bathroom which was inconvenient for my elderly friend and feel that this should have been noted in the online description. Whilst I know that this is common in cottages of this size a plan of the cottage would have been useful in advance of booking as I thought that the bathroom was going to be located in the 3rd (locked) bedroom on 1st floor.

My only small issue - more my problem than theirs - was that our dog escaped from the garden. It is enclosed as the details say but she still managed to find a hole under the hedge. Having said that, we will rebook because we enjoyed some lovely walks right from the door step and we had a lovely weekend.

Main bedroom very comfortable and had some of my best sleeps this year here. Ideal location to get straight onto heathland. Watching the deer from kitchen window was sublime. We actually got some warm weather and meant we relaxed on the patio which was in full sun so wasn’t expecting that. All in all couldn't ask for a more relaxing break. Added advantage is bus stop just up the way.

  • "The Cottage description was misleading."

It implied that the Bathroom and Bedrooms were on the same floor. There was NO mention of the fact that the Bathroom was downstairs, at the back of the cottage. There was Accessibility information provided on the single step up into the Kitchen. There should have been a much more important Accessibility statement about the downstairs Bathroom. Whilst my husband is a fit 75 year old, and I am a fit and active MS sufferer. We have no problem with stairs during the day. A narrow steep stair case during the night is not an option for us. We had to move the mattress downstairs, and slept on the floor for the entire holiday. When we contacted the agent, to at least alert the owner to the fact that we wouldn't be able to move the Mattress back at the end we had an extremely blunt and unhelpful response. Leave the cottage as you found it. We couldn't and didn't.

  • "I may have been a little bit generous with my comments as we are all living in extremely difficult times and I know most people are trying to do their best in the circumstances."

We had a poor start to the holiday with only one key found in the key box and if it hadn't been for the help of the nextdoor neighbour who used his Yale key, we would have experienced a very difficult beginning. We managed to work our ,way around this eventually. As I had read reviews on Studland Cottage I wasn't expecting a great kitchen so wasn't disappointed! We thought the top of the electric cooker needed more cleaning so we did this. The cottage is for four people, but four teaspoons...please. The cupboards don't fit properly in places either but we didn't intend to spend a lot of time in the kitchen as we had lovely weather and just wanted to relax in this beautiful area. We reported damaging a lamp shade in the front bedroom which my daughter accidentally knocked off the bedside table while stripping the bed. The property has character, built in 1915, but floors a little uneven in places upstairs. In my humble opinion the house would benefit from a more substantial front door and a little tlc to the kitchen. Location is fine.

A beautiful view. Could have done with an extra bin bag which seemed rather mean. Also, the place could have been cleaner generally and there was quite a bit of dog excriment in the garden which I had to clear up. We don't have a dog. I don't want to be negative as we really enjoyed staying here and would be very tempted to stay again.

Internally, the cottage is nicely decorated, tastefully furnished and very well equipped. The advertised ‘patio’ is the small courtyard which , if given some TLC could be so attractive. At the moment there is nothing appealing about it. The scaffolding is intrusive. The garden is great. Shame the barbecue is neglected - we didn’t feel it safe to use. At very little cost a small survival kit ie a couple of loo rolls, some extra bin liners and hand wash in the bathroom would have been a nice touch.

There is an excellent local shop which seems to sell everything! Although well equipped, the kitchen was a little tired and needed a revamp, the cooker especially needed a deep clean. The beds were very comfortable, but not kingsize as advertised. The BBQ had not been cleaned and we decided we could not cook on it. It was great to have a dishwasher and washing machine, but a few dishwasher and washing tabs would have been very useful. Having said all this, we had a lovely week, and would stay here again.

About the location

STUDLAND

Swanage 3.6 miles; Sandbanks 4 miles; Wareham 9.3 miles.

Studland is a little village nestled on a peninsula in the Isle of Purbeck, close to both Swanage and Corfe Castle. The village serves as the start of the 630-mile South West Coast Path, where the chain ferry crosses the mouth of Poole Harbour, and trails all the way to Minehead in Somerset, providing excellent walking and scenic vistas. Studland is famously known for its long, sandy beaches, managed by the National Trust, providing watersport facilities and local riding stables on the beach at certain times of the year. Within the village there are several eateries, including The Bankes Arms or The Pig on the Beach near South Beach, plus there is the National Trust café on Knoll Beach. The Sandbanks chain ferry is the easiest way to access the seaside resorts of Poole and Bournemouth, whilst there are frequent bus services from the village centre and beaches that run to Sandbanks and further on to Bournemouth.
