  • "A lovely cottage, well equipped and kept to a high standard throughout."

It's in a great spot and close to lots of walks, the Jurassic coast and a great little local village pub. As mentioned in previous reviews, the bed mattresses are not very comfortable and the metal bed frames creak when you move, they let down what is otherwise an excellent level of facilities throughout the rest of the cottage. One of the nicest cottages we have stayed in.

Thank you for your comments and glad you enjoyed your stay at South Glebe . With regard to the beds we have added further mattress toppers to enhance our guests stay and comfort for future visits . Property Owner

  • "A beautifully presented cottage."

It was clean and tidy and the welcome basket (including dog treats) was lovely! The pub where we ate most nights was a 2 minute walk and the staff are very friendly. It’s a very quiet spot where you can go just to relax, not too far in the car to the sea. If I’m being picky I agree with the other reviews that the metal beds and mattresses are uncomfortable and all 5 of us didn’t sleep that well, but we really did love the cottage itself.

We are really glad you enjoyed your stay at South Glebe and are very lucky to have the pub nearby . We understand personal preferences can differ regarding mattresses and will take any comments on board for future improvements. Thank you for leaving South Glebe so clean and tidy and we hope to welcome you back again . Property Owner

  • "A fantastic property in a lovely quiet village."

We really enjoyed our stay at South Glebe. The welcome pack was much appreciated. Not particularly baby/child friendly with no cot or high chair available. The turn onto the drive was a bit tight but we mastered it as the week went on. Overall I would recommend South Glebe if you're looking for a quiet relaxing break.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay at South Glebe and feel able to recommend us . We decided that supplying a cot/high chair is not a facility that we would offer and so not listed on our property listing . This decision was taken after feedback from other guests as they would prefer to bring their own Property Owner

  • "Spotlessly clean and comfortable house in lovely quiet village, perfect for an elderly couple such as we are."

The only quibble is that the entrance to the driveway is extremely tight.

Thank you for choosing to stay at South Glebe and your kind comments . The entrance is deceiving and is 9ft in width. We hope you stay with us again soon . Property Owner

  • "The cottage is easy to find."

I used google maps to follow the directions and found that useful beforehand. The cottage is set in a pretty garden. The entrance is quite tight if you have a large car and may require a bit of manoeuvring. The cottage was spotless throughout. The welcome basket was enjoyed during our stay. A small bottle of milk was in the fridge for us on arrival. Plenty of information in the guest guide about the property, area, places to eat etc. There are folders in the kitchen and utility rooms with information about the appliances. This became very useful when I had to discover why the dishwasher didn’t want to work, it had run out of rinse aid and salt, which were fortunately provided. The high quality furniture was comfortable throughout. We enjoyed the tv in the lounge which was easy to navigate, although it required updating before it would work one day, which my husband found easy to do following the instructions on the screen. We found that we were waking very early each morning due to the lack of blackout blinds or curtain liners in the bedrooms, and the local cockerel. The local pub was a short walk away and we enjoyed Sunday lunch served there. There are plenty of places to visit a short drive away from Hawkchurch in this beautiful area. Would recommend this property to everyone wanting a comfortable places to stay.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback and we are so glad you had a comfortable and enjoyable time at South Glebe and surrounding area . We also appreciate you leaving the house immaculate and hope to welcome you back again soon . Property Owner

We were able to sit in the garden and good to have off street parking. Just one question the outside lighting was on all night could that be changed for movement only lighting to save electricity.. We would definitely stay again.

We are pleased you found South Glebe comfortable and the weather was kind to you so you could enjoy the garden. The outside lights are very low wattage and are dusk to dawn lights so cost less than a penny a night to run . We look forward to you staying again . Property Owner

  • "Had a great 5 night stay."

Good location in the quiet village of Hawkchurch. First impressions were slightly disappointing, it was clean but did not look like it had been hoovered. Found a few dead insects in living room, biscuit crumbs, various bits on carpets throughout. Thank you for the welcome pack and milk this was appreciated. Positives - View from the front bedrooms. Comfortable sofas and beds, spacious, kitchen was very well equipped, ensuite was huge and like a main bathroom. Minor aspects which could be improved on - having a hairdryer at the property, linens (bed sheets and pillows) were tired, only one tea towel was provided it would be useful to have more. Overall, we would recommend staying here.

Thank you for your feedback, we are so glad you had a great 5 night stay and feel able to recommend staying at South Glebe . Property Owner

  • "A real quality home from home (great facilities) with some much appreciated nice touches (welcome pack games, books, radio, smart tv's) to make us feel welcome."

Spacious enough for 6 and quiet location away from the hustle, but close enough to everywhere you'd want to go. Fabulous walks through local marked rights of way, especially good for 4 legged freinds Only let down by uncomfortable tired mattresses and a lack of black out blinds in the bedrooms.

We are really glad you enjoyed your stay and agree there are some fabulous walks nearby . All the mattresses were bought new only 8 months ago but we understand personal tastes can differ and we always take any guests comments on board for future improvements . Property Owner

The location was perfect. The accommodation the same. The decoration, furnishings and kitchen equipment was first class. A few minor points - the door on the family bathroom did not lock and we were unable to use one of the dining room chairs - legs wobbly! We had a fabulous holiday.

Thank you for your feedback, we are so happy you loved the cottage. The minor maintenance issues you have raised has now been resolved. I am only sorry you didn't notify us when these issues became apparent, as we are always happy to attend and resolve issues for our guests. Property Owner

Two little things I should like to bring to your attention . The legs of the dining room chairs were a little loose and required tightening and for older party members I would like to see a grab handle on the wall of the en suite shower.

Very well equipped with everything you could possibly need . The outside space is delightful, beautiful garden & seating areas which we made the most of with the great weather … Travelled down from Scotland , good directions & easily found down the narrow country roads . The mattresses were all new & although immaculate aren’t very comfortable. I would definitely come back to this house.

  • "One word… SUPERB!"

We’ve used Sykes for many years and this property is up there with one of the best we’ve stayed in! The house is in a beautiful quiet location and had everything you wanted. The facilities were excellent and the welcome package on arrival was a lovely touch. The property owners had thought of everything and really wanted to make your stay special! If there was one small suggestion and I mean it’s very small would be a note on the website highlighting the entrance to the parking is quite narrow. Nothing to worry about but definitely worth noting as if you have a large ish SUV type car it was quite tight pulling in and out of the property! Thanks for a lovely stay
