Ideal for a quiet holiday, the cottage is very well maintained and the owners who live in the adjacent house and very friendly and a pleasure to stay with, our westie was given full use of the large garden and was allowed in the main house most mornings to say good morning There are an abundance of walks in the fields surrounding the village and a very friendly inn only a couple of minutes walk from the cottage In all this was a very nice break and would like to return for a summer break Thank you Alan, Sue and Daisy (westie)

  • "The owner was lovely The only things were the sofa was so old and uncomfortable we ended up having to sit on the floor ."

Also there was not one cupboard in the kitchen that didn't have crockery in it for a bungalow that sleeps 2 you don't need 4 tea sets 12 plates and everything that goes with them nowhere to actually put food

  • "Lovely quiet cottage, needed a couple of good armchairs as elderly people like us could not get out of settee once in it, the cleaner had not removed the settee cushions to clean, chips and other bits of food we found there, I did inform the owners, you advertised WiFi but very limited we had to go to the owners back door for a connection not very convenient."

You also advertised secure garden but my dog had to be on a lead at all times as she could have walked out into the road. My husband cannot get in or out of a bath so needs a shower, but you needed to be 2ft tall to get under the shower, you could take it off the wall to hold it by hand but there was no shower curtain to stop the water going everywhere, for the money you pay needs a bit of improvement.

The gardens are exceptional and our dog loved exploring it. Great location to visit surrounding areas. The elderly couple were lovely and very welcoming. Would definitely go back again.

  • "An extremely comfortable cottage with a beautiful garden, well equipped and ideally situated in a quiet village."

Lots of dog walks right from the doorstep across the fields and our dog loved it. A nice village pub 200 yards down the road. The owners were very pleasant and upon our arrival was fresh scones and cream, a nice gesture. I would definitely recommend and look forward to returning in the future.

  • "Yeoman cottage is a place we would definitely return to when we want to revisit that area."

It is set in tranquil surroundings with an acre of garden to roam in. On arrival we were greeted by the owner who was very welcoming and gave us a brief history of the building. Inside was a very welcome cream tea waiting for us. The cottage is well equipped and beautifully clean, and the history of the dining room table and chairs was very interesting. It is within easy driving distance the Dorset and Devon coast. We explored from Weymouth/Portland Bill over to Seaton/Beer. Taunton and Yeovil are both good for shopping. We would have no hesitation in recommending Yeoman cottage. I

Enjoying a peaceful position within the countryside setting of South Somerset and within striking distance of Dorset and its stunning coastline, is this wonderfully transformed barn conversion, Yeoman Cottage.

Tucked away in the grounds of the one-acre garden of a 16th century village house, this south-facing property is the perfect retreat for a couple seeking to spend some quality time together and to explore the several delights that are within the surrounding area.

Be welcomed into the warming aura of the cosy cottage by stepping into the spacious porch, where an oak chest is located, holding an array of brochures and maps to assist you in planning the day’s ahead whilst staying here.

From here, you will find the well-equipped kitchen, containing a range of quality appliances including a washing machine, so that you can easily wash your belongings after an action-packed day of exploring.

Once you have made use of the kitchen appliances to cook up a hearty meal, settle down at the dining table with your partner to relish in a bottle of wine as you tuck into dinner.

Afterwards, retreat into the traditionally furnished sitting room; admire the pretty pictures, refreshing décor and William Morris linen curtains before sinking into the plush seating arrangement and flicking on the TV with a DVD player to wind down the evening.

During the summer months, be sure to open up the patio doors to allow a fresh breeze to filter into the room or step out onto patio area to catch the final glimpses of sunshine as it's perfect for alfresco dining.

Once the evening has drawn to a close, catch your rest in the bedroom, where the oak beams frame the well-presented double bed and the dual aspect windows, which offer pretty views to wake up to each morning.

Continuing to impress, the cottage is surrounded by a well-maintained garden, which you are welcome to explore, home to a wildlife pond, cordoned fruit trees, summerhouse and a kitchen garden, with produce available according to the season.

If you can tear yourself away from this tranquil oasis, take a leisurely stroll to The Muddled Man, a traditional local pub serving food and a welcoming atmosphere to complement, or travel slightly further afield to the village of Norton-Sub-Hamdon, where you will find another pub and a shop for picking up any essentials.

Keen walkers can take their pick from the wide variety of walks from the doorstep of the cottage, including Ham Hill Country Park for incredible views of the South Somerset Moors, Exmoor and the Mendip Hills.

Head to Sutton Bingham Reservoir to find opportunities for fishing, sailing and birdwatching or delve into the local area’s past by visiting the Haynes International Motor Museum near Sparkford and the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton.

Guests of Yeoman Cottage will also be spoilt for choice by the number of National Trust properties within the area, including Montacute House, the Priest's House, Lytes Cary Manor and Lambert's Castle.
