  • "Beautiful place so big inside, only thing is traffic just a little noisy"

Dear Guests Thank you for your feedback. We are so very pleased you liked the property and hope you enjoyed your stay. It is larger than it looks from the photos and lovely to hear you found it so spacious for you and you fellow guests, you certainly had some fabulous weather for your stay. There is some traffic noise mainly at the front of the property due to passing traffic on the B3092 road however you don’t really notice it from the back of the property. This is in the property description on Syks site to make people aware but we do hope it didn’t spoil your stay and hope you will return. Property Owner

So pleased you all had a fantastic holiday at Downs View its so lovely to see so many family enjoying quality time together. Thank you for your constructive comments and we are looking into new signage to help make it easier to see from the road. We do also use “What 3 Words” as many people find this very helpful as well. Lovely setting and lots of garden space to enjoy the sun and views. In future it would be handy to have instructions on how to activate TV. Otherwise perfect as described in the online brochure

  • "The bungalow provided good and roomy accommodation for a family holiday of 10 people."

Very close to Longleat and Stour Head both of which were excellent. Lovely views over the fields in the garden and regular visits from hares! The drive is a bit difficult to negotiate but soon got used to it. Everyone enjoyed their week.

  • "Lots of pluses, convenient location for places of interest, spacious, comfortable, well equipped."

Negatives, busy noisy road, next to farm yard with a slurry tank which attracted flies into the house, garden and outside space red some TLC.

  • "Lovely bungalow with heaps of space, thoughtful details and very well equipped."

The road is quite noisy at the front of the house but not bad at all during the night. We had a lovely holiday, particularly when the herd of young cows came to visit at the end of the garden each day.

  • "Our family, from the oldest to the youngest at 14 years old, loved the 7 days we had in this large bungalow."

If you are not familiar with this area, you will find you can travel north or south from Knoll Farm Bungalow (aka Downs View) and find something for everyone. Yes, most roads here are north or south, but the A303 (worth avoiding on a busy day) runs east/west and it is only 4 miles from the bungalow. Having said that, Bath is 26 miles north, and it is easy driving through hills and vales. Day trips to the Jurassic coast, Corfe, Swanage on the Isle of Purbeck, are a little further in the opposite direction. Frome 8 miles north has large supermarkets. Equally, we all enjoyed wandering over the road from the bungalow to walk the 1km top ridge of "Long Knoll", up to 288m above sea level, admiring views and the Covid-19 NHS "ribbon of light" installation by a local artist. Our activities ranged from easy walking or cycling of canal tow paths (Dundas), to kayaking rivers (Wareham), watching steam trains, seeing museums, and farm animals.(City Farm, Bath) This bungalow has 2 electric showers each in a separate room (with toilet) which enable an immediately warm, quick, shower ready for your fun packed day. One of the showers also shares it's room with a bath. There is also a separate toilet room. 3 Toilets was enough for our group. The advert for this bungalow mentions road noise, we think for light sleepers you will probably need to relocate to the back bedroom with your ear plugs to get to sleep. The large comfortable lounge and conservatory/dining area are very quiet at the back of the house even with the occasional heavy lorry that rumbles past at any hour of the day or night. Plenty of towels were provided. If you can't live without your large bath sheet/towel bring it with you. The duvets are very warm and cosy. If you can't live without your thin summer duvet, bring it with you. Any issues and the new owners (July 2020) are very thoughtful and quick to respond. We rate them very highly.
