There are plenty of footpaths locally, and the use of the owner's field is a bonus. The garden catches the sunshine all day. Highly recommend it.

The cottage is surprisingly spacious for a one bedroom and had everything our family needed. The owner was very kind and helpful. The outside space was fantastic, lovely in the sun with a glass of wine and it was lovely to sit in the conservatory eating breakfast. Would definitely love to stay again.

  • "Great cottage and great location ."

Facilities were very good - only minor comment on the website said double bed 'split into 2' - it did not, hence we had to get a blow up mattress for one of the kids. Fantastic locations - within 45 mins drive we visited Bradford on Avon, Bath, Wells, Glastonbury and Stonehenge. Within 90 mins drive and we visited Weston Super mare and Weymouth. Lots of great walks close to the cottage for the dog and nice secure garden plus access to large field for a runabout. Would highly recommend as a great base for a small family

Central for both coasts but an hour away at least. Lots of National Trust properties around but just beware that lots of very narrow country roads and due to position of cottage you are surrounded. However this does lead you to lovely little villages. We thoroughly enjoyed the holiday and having a cottage means you don't even need to leave it you can chill in the lovely garden.

  • "Acorn cottage is in a lovely, quiet, countryside setting with wonderful views over the fields."

The cottage itself is fully equipped with everything you need for a relaxing break and is very tastefully decorated. It's the perfect base for sightseeing in the immediate vicinity and for traveling further afield to visit some of the lovely towns and attractions nearby. The cottage is dog friendly with a fully secure fence surrounding the property and a large adjoining field which the owner advised we may use for walking the dogs whenever we wanted.

  • "The location of the cottage is perfect!"

It's really quiet with a great outlook from the rear of the cottage. The conservatory was a really pleasant surprise - we had breakfast and other meals in there regularly looking out on the fields and horses. Plenty of equipment and a full size fridge/freezer made keeping and preparing food easy. TV and DVD player were really useful in the evening. We were very lucky in that we had perfect dry weather all week so we were able to explore Somerset.

This is a very comfortable and cosy cottage with a nice and secure garden for dogs, allowing my 2 young Mini Dachshund lots of fun and frollicks. There is also a lovely large field that you can also use to exercise dogs as long as there are no farm stock in field. I would absolutely recommend this cottage if you want a nice peaceful location. Owners of cottage are very helpful and knowledgeable about local attractions.

We could let our dog out when she wanted to without having to put her on her lead or take her for a walk as we have had to do in others. I think it should be something that you should do to check gardens in listings, especially as we nearly lost her from one. We will return to Acorn Cottage because of this

It is larger than it appears in the photos. The garden is dog proof which is a real bonus and they enjoyed walks in the fields. The Wi-fi was intermittent whilst we were there, probably due to the weather. The cottage is lovely and warm, plenty of hot water too. The kitchen is nicely equipped with the added bonus of a dishwasher. The host was welcoming and friendly, and would have been easy to contact had we needed to. It is ideal for visiting Longleat Safari Park where we spent a couple of days and also Glastonbury. We were a party of 4 adults and had plenty of room, the conservatory is particularly nice for enjoying a cup of coffee in the sunshine. If we are back in the area we would certainly love to stay again.

The pub was shut all the time we were there and no shop within a mile. Nearest shop in Bruton. Ideal base for exploring the area. Fabulous views and very quiet. TV ridiculously small and lounge furniture not very comfortable. Garden not enclosed, there is a field out the back of the property the owner preferred dogs to only go round the edge of the field so if the dogs wanted to be in the garden, one of us had to be,to stop them disappearing into the long grass. Conservatory had wicker furniture which was not user friendly and the owner had put a heat deflector on the ceiling secured with masking tape and it was hanging off by the end of the week.

The location is quiet and secluded. It is a great area if you like walking and if you have a dog. Near to several places to visit including National Trust properties. The cottage contained all the things you need to self cater and had good quality linen and towels etc . You do not always get large bath sheets in a holiday rental! Its well equipped but in addition the provision of all the basic essential supplies makes a stay much easier for some one like me who is visiting from abroad and who doesn't arrive with washing powder; rubbish bags etc. Added to the sheer convenience, the location is superb and the bed very comfortable so I shall certainly be trying to book Acorn Cottage again on future visits.
