"This is nice but very small cottage ."
The review is based on our experience in other Sykes accommodation. The cottage is ok but is rather expensive for the small size. It was nicely presented although not premium property for the cost. The TV remote did not work properly and so it was difficult to watch or use the TV. The real downside to the cottage was that we decided to use the oven on the third night. it was very dirty with fat on the side walls and cooking tray and we decided against using it. On departure we straightened the throws to find a considerable number of stains on the sofa's and the throws. In the past, the standards been far higher. Sykes were responsive and did try to sort out the TV and did find out that if you used the remote near the floor it was possible to change channel and access the Fire Stick, which allowed us to manage and got us through. It was winter and so you did need the TV on an evening. Sykes did a courtesy call during which we reported the TV/remote. We did not follow up the oven as we only had one night remaining. Who ever cleaned the cottage appeared to have missed that the oven needed cleaning. Overall it was all ok although the two elements highlighted should not have occurred As the oven was so dirty, it does make you question how well the other elements in the cottage were cleaned. One final point the laminate floor is in poor condition with chips and gaps. In summary the accommodation is ok, however fall short of the other cottages we have stayed in previously. the linen was spotless and very crisp and clean.

I am sorry the oven was not as clean as it could be, I understand Dream Cottages cannot do a deep deep clean at each turnover or the new guests would have a later checkin. The hope would be that each guest would wipe inside the oven after use.
We have driven down and removed the shelves and trays and cleaned them and the oven itself.
We will look at the TV remote control issue, and replace it as soon as we can, though we did turn it on and used the Firestick with it ok when we came to remove the Christmas decorations.
We use the throws because unfortunately guests do leave marks, despite there being upholstery cleaner available. We try and remove the marks when we are there but with holiday use and pets, it can be difficult. We do renew the throws regularly.
Regarding the price, 4 of you stayed over New Year, which was £33/night each. These are similar prices to Spring/Early Summer. New Year will have a price elevation.
From that, expenses are deducted, so infact, this cottage is one of the cheapest on the site, primarily, as you say, because it is small.
However, there is free parking available locally, and it is a 5 min walk to the beautiful Harbour.
We hope, despite it being winter, you managed to get out and see a bit of Weymouth.

"We had a fabulous week here the cottage is welcoming and cosy the lady that owns the cottage came and sorted the heating within an hour of us asking aboat it being a bit cold."
The kitchen was very well equipped and the bed was really comfortable. We loved our stay at pixie cottage and can't wait to come back

Needs a good clean outside windows/doors as very dirty.
Stairs very very steep with bits of carpet that come away ...
Definitely not ideal for a elderly person..
Thank you for your Feedback. The Window cleaner was at the property on 30th May and they are cleaned regularly. The cleaners clean and check the property after each stay.
New blinds are now installed and we will take another look at the stair carpet, but did not notice an issue.
The cottage is a traditional fisherman's cottage within walking distance of Weymouth Harbour. Because of its size, a large TV would be inappropriate. The steep staircase is mentioned in the holiday description. The parking is free, near the cottage, but on occasion you may have to park in nearby streets. Terrace cottages there are compact and furnished as such, and that is reflected in the price. I hope you enjoyed Weymouth with this beautiful weather.
Update:-Outdoor black window sills able to be decorated now we have dry weather, window cleaner is coming monthly, stair carpet is apparantly not lifted, but steep, as detailed in the cottages's description.

"Beds were very hard not comfortable."
Memory foam mattresses would be better.
A few marks on sofas.
Damp on bathroom wall.
Bath was not that clean needs grouting on edges to be cleaned or redone.
Microwave grimy inside and there is a smell from it
Mildew on blinds on top of stairs, and starting to get mildew or damp on blinds in bedrooms.
Outside the property the window sills need repainting as the paint is flaking off, upstairs windows etc.
Thank you for your feedback. Sorry to hear there were elements of the building which were less than satisfactory. We will go and check the cleaning issues, immediately, as they are new to us and have not been highlighted in previous excellent feedback. They fall short of standards we would expect.
Windowsill maintenance is in the diary, once the dryer weather arrives.
I hope you managed to enjoy your Spring stay and to see some of beautiful Weymouth and the stunning Dorset area.
UPDATE:-we have realised that the enormous electric bill we received was the previous client to you, who was there on and off over winter, for 4 weeks, running the cottage as a kitchen or laundry and the ensuing condensation has made its mark on the blinds and walls. The oven was obviously warming the cottage, but the normal cosy gas central heating is meant to do that but our heating record showed it was not used, presumably because the temperature inside was high from intense oven use.
In June, we will be removing the double-glazing, therefore allowing ease of access to windows. Double-glazing can be removed and stored easily anytime. We are also now in touch with the company who made the blinds, so they can be replaced.

"Just came home from a fabulous Christmas week at Pixie Cottage."
When we arrived the cottage was warm, with Christmas decorations and some Christmas treats.
Pixie cottage is as decried a beautiful old little cottage which was perfect for a family of three, as it is an older cottage the stairs are very steep compared to a newer house but didn’t cause us any problems. We managed to park close by and had no issues. Overall a perfect little Christmas getaway. We definitely be booking again.

Thank you Peter for your kind comments. We had a few days vacancy after you left and took the opportunity to repaint the tiny courtyard walls a fresh white and the floor a lovely light blue. We added new seating. It is very bright and clean-looking, bring sunglasses next time you visit!

"A nice place in a good location."
It's a bit hilly in this area and the photographs flatter the dimensions of the cottage but all things considered I think that it is a good option for a couple. It might be a bit cramped with 4 adults. It is close to most things in Waymouth but just out of the way enough to be quite (apart from the gulls).
