  • "Enjoyed our 2 week stay at Quay Cottage."

It was really comfortable and the kitchen had every item you needed. Bed in main bedroom was very comfy and bedroom was large with lots of storage. Courtyard was an added bonus as our first week was hot and sunny and nice to sit outside after a day out. Location is good although I think mention should be made in the description of the property of the steep approach to the property as some elderly guests may struggle with this. Would definitely recommend this lovely cottage to friends/family

I have already sent a review. Also had numerous phone conversations with yourselves about the house but issue not resolved. Very disappointed. I’m sure the owner of the property would be mortified by how unclean it was.

Thanks for your feedback. As the owner, please accept my apologies that the house cleanliness wasn't up to standard this time. I understand from Dream Cottages, who manage the cleaning, that they sent a cleaner the next day to rectify the matter and hope this resolved things satisfactorily. I understand that the phone call situation was more convoluted than usual with Dream Cottages as it was out of their regular office working hours. Property Owner

If you are not travelling by car the public transport is excellent we went to lyme Regis for the day & it's very good value , just one mention I asked Sykes did the cottage have a hairdryer they said no but in fact it has two . We were lucky with the weather and had a great holiday, thank you

Glad your grandchildren found the cottage well equipped for their needs :). Re hairdryer, Yes we try to leave everything someone might reasonably expect plus more at the cottage - there hasn’t been a means to convey details like hairdryers being there historically - we will ask Sykes if there is a way we can now capture such information. We have stayed here twice and would stay again. It is in the perfect location to make the most of Weymouth. Close to local shop, Chinese, and the lovely Chapelhay Tavern. It's five mins walk from town centre, beach, The Nothe Fort and Asda & about ten mins to station. Beds are comfy and the shower is fantastic.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us again. Glad you love both the house and Weymouth itself. Have just put in a new wireless speaker gadget in the lounge so there will be a new ‘toy’ to play with next time. Property Owner

Parking is a problem but we did manage to park very near to the cottage. The facilities are excellent and the rooms are spacious and very comfortable. We've had a lovely stay. Thank you.

Glad you really enjoyed your time at Quay Cottage. On parking it’s a shame the council stopped parking permits 2 seasons ago which would’ve helped but nonetheless will update guest book this winter with some tips re nearby places to park. Property Owner

It’s spacious and has everything that you could possibly want. A pretty little courtyard which we didn’t get to enjoy because of the weather. Not far to walk to town and beach. One little niggle, the bathroom door wouldn’t close without some force, so we didn’t shut it, wasn’t really a problem for us. Parking was a bit of a problem, couldn’t always park by the house. Even so we would definitely recommend staying here.

Glad you enjoyed your stay and found the area conveniently located. Will look into the door- being wooden the doors do expand/contract somewhat seasonally. Property Owner

Superbly located on the quiet side of the town but a 5 minute walk to the bridge into the mail town and access to buses going all over Dorset. A local Londis a 3 minute walk away stocked everything needed. And Hope square offered the Red Lion for food and drinks with other restaurants near bye.

Thank you for your kind comments. Glad you had a fab time. We love the location too - quiet yet a stones throw away from the centre. The Londis is indeed super convenient as you found out. Hope to see you again. Property Owner

  • "The cottage provided a comfortable stay."

Excellent self catering facilities with excellent array of kitchen utensils. We were aware very quickly of a quantity of black hairs throughout the property. Especially noticeable on the tiles, sink and inside cupboards in the kitchen, the stool in the bathroom and throughout our stay we kept finding them. We did wonder if they were cat hairs but we specifically chose the property as it was a no pets property, due to my husband’s animal allergies so could not see how they could be cat hairs. After a good clean I seemed to clear the main offenders but this did make us feel uncomfortable and concerned at the level of cleanliness at the property and if in fact pets had been present in previous stays. With a little more attention to detail on cleaning this would easily be 5 stars for us as everything else was such a high standard. The accommodation size is excellent. The amenities are excellent. The double bed was very comfortable and after a clean up we had a very enjoyable stay. Parking permit was very welcome as the parking outside the property is limited. We were very impressed with Sykes Cottages reservations team.

Everything you could possibly ever need was in the kitchen, and it was refreshing to have nice glasses in a holiday house too ;) The location was great - perfect for exploring the area, but also quiet. The parking permit was a brilliant option to have, although we lucked out every day and managed to park right outside. We will definitely stay here again. The service and communication from Dream Cottages (Ian) was excellent too.

Parking is in short supply on the street but ok for dropping off luggage etc. We then used the parking permit provided for nearby car parks in Nothe Gardens which was a good alternative. • "Very little to fault with it: comfortable, clean, very good location (on the borderline between the fun part of Weymouth and a rather undesirable area) and very easy to live in."

The only minor issues were: 1) For a house of five people, there really needs to be a spare key. 2) The kitchen was very well equipped but a couple of pans might need replacing. 3) The welcome pack is not clear about what guests should do with recycling.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. Thanks for your notes and they have been followed up on. Have added a spare key, pans and oven trays we check and replace as required annually. Recycling is more awkward in Weymouth than many other areas - some options in the book are noted and emerging options will be added as the book is renewed annually but there is no easy trade waste option for recycling.
