  • "Had a lovely 2 week stay at Seahorse cottage."

Very clean everything you would need. Would recommend to family and friends. We did have very bad rain the first week of our stay and the guttering above the front door was blocked which meant a waterfall outside the front door but did report to dream cottages. Just a couple of things ( but wouldn’t stop me visiting again) the pillows were too thin and would be useful having a tumble dryer. It states no dogs allowed on sofa or upstairs but the sofa had a very bad smell of wet dog. . ( i never brought my dog on this visit) Overall a good stay many thanks

  • "We have stayed at the Seahorse several times over the last few years and enjoyed many happy holidays, feeling like we were at home there."

This holiday was still lovely, in terms of the location of the property in particular. However, the property is showing signs of being a bit 'tired and worn'. For example, the windows are very old and not easy to open if needed. The bathroom is tired and smells a bit damp. The settee is also quite old and worn now too. For a small investment now, to spruce this lovely property up, it could make a big difference and to be honest the difference as to whether we will chose to stay there again in the future. Thanks

  • "We had a wonderful stay at seahorse cottage."

It was in a great location and provided everything we needed. Everything was lovely and clean. The only down side was the parking but given the location this was understandable and there was a relatively cheap ca park nearby. We were slightly concerned by previous reviews that commented on the steepness of the stairs and the tired furniture, but we believe this just added to the charm of the cottage. We would definitely visit again.

  • "The cottage was very good overall, there were a few things that prevented it from being excellent: One small washing up sponge, two j-clothes and only one tea towel, for a weeks stay is not enough, neither is two toilet rolls!"

For a weeks stay there should be more and we should not have to purchase these!!! It was asked that the cottage was cleaned prior to leaving, well that is not possible as the sponge and j-clothes had already been used!! The cottage was described as dog friendly, only when you get there are you told that pets are not allowed upstairs, this information should be be available when booking, not after you have arrived. Also if you don't want pets upstairs, then fit a stair gate at the bottom of the stairs, as unfortunately dogs don't understand they can't go upstairs!

  • "We stayed here for a week in May."

The house was spacious and clean & the location is ideal for a short walk to the Harbour and a walk over the bridge into the town and the beach. The neighbours were so friendly and we had good banter with them. Now for the negatives. As with previous comments, parking is a major problem and especially when trying to unload and load your car. You can park in Asda's car park at a reasonable daily price via Park & Go. The sofa is very uncomfortable & tatty. The courtyard could do with smartening up - it was scruffy. A lick of paint, a good sweep & cleaning of slabs wouldn't go amiss. The patio furniture is tatty - rusty and so uncomfortable. The two wooden chairs are awful. No comfort whatsoever when sitting in the courtyard. Rattan furniture would be ideal for comfort. The rug in the conservatory is filthy - should be disposed of. One arm of the wicker sofa in conservatory looks like its been chewed by a dog. The bathroom would benefit with a couple of shelves. No shaving point in there. The stairs are very steep, the treads are narrow. Going up & down needs to be negotiated with care (there are comments on here already regarding this matter). The night lights at top & bottom of stairs to do not work. The Apple TV Box is useless unless you have an Apple TV account. With so many negatives, we would not return to this property although we did love Weymouth.

  • "We had a very enjoyable stay ay Seahorse Cottage."

It was clean and comfortable and I thought the extension at the back was great, really well designed, constructed and light. Similarly the main bathroom was very well appointed and almost had an excess of washing and drying facilities! All equipment was first class and I've only knocked off one star because of factors mostly beyond the owner's control i.e. very steep stairs to the first floor, second bedroom had little room to move, the bed having no headboard and up against the window and difficulties with parking. The property is very handy for the harbour area and Nothe Gardens which are good for dog walking and the views towards Portland Bill. With the above caveats I would thoroughly recommend staying at Seahorse Cottage.

The whole home was welcoming, ideal location, clean to a standard but I think sofas could have been hoovered more thorough as it is a dog staycation building but this was no major issue as hoover is available to use so I just did a quick run around my self and enjoy having a hoover daily as I brought my dog along. The larger bedroom bed was so so soooooo comfortable I slept so well (apart from having a 3 month baby haha) Would stay again for sure! Thanks

When we are away we like to walk or use public transport so the car stayed there all week. We loved the position of the Cottage. Just a short walk from everything yet lovely and quiet. This may have been helped with the issue of a permit as there were a number of areas we could have parked that were permit holders only. However there is an area near to the cottage that accommodates a number of cars that another resident told us about and we were able to park there a couple of times but it’s not guaranteed. Other than that it’s s lovely cottage with plenty of room and is very close to everything you want to see and do.

The house was clean, spacious and as described. The stair are very steep and do require you to be careful on them. Only thing I would also recommend noting would be there is a whole floor for the owners personal belongings as well as some wardrobe space in the master bedroom being locked and used by the owner. The community was lovely and the neighbours made a massive impact on the holiday- was lovely coming back from a day out and being able to chat/have a drink with the community, of course there is no pressure to, but would highly recommend to really understand how family orientated the community is. Will be booking for next year!

Dreams Office is convenient to pop in and discuss issues (Dreams cottages Weymouth), great benefit of booking. Second bedroom would be better with option of 2 singles or a double (we know this before we booked, just saying). Very modern, clean all mod cons, perfect for a small family, and if you don't want to go out you can stay home and just chill. Everything you need is within walking distance, and other areas such as Lulworth and Swanage are barely half and hours drive away. There is a lovely little garden for the dogs and a great conservatory for you to spend a sleepy afternoon in. You can walk to the bay of Weymouth daily with your pets and have a nice cup of coffee or tea or something stronger if you wish and have a leisurely walk back home. The beach is just across from the bay and the beaches are clean and perfect for you and your dogs in the dog only beach.

Due to this we would not have booked this property. Unfortunately it was too late to change when this inaccuracy came to light. I have had to call in regards to this several times with pretty much no return calls from Sykes at all. I have spent more than 4 hours waiting on the phone to date. I am currently still waiting for a call from a manager on my request for some 10 days now. In my experience with Sykes to date, this feedback is pointless and a waste of time as nobody will respond to this and I will have to continue to chase a call from a member of the management team. It is a shame because we have used Sykes several times in the past with no problems but the first time we have had an issue the customer service is nonexistent.

It is well located for the harbour side where we took many boat trips, the beach and local shops and bars. We even managed to walk from the cottage to Portland! It took about an hour but it was a nice walk! We had a thoroughly good time! The only slight negative is the parking - there is no guaranteed parking and the road where the cottage is unfortunately isn't wide enough to park and allow other cars past. We did manage to find somewhere to park on a surrounding road which took a couple of attempts. We didn't dare move the car all week as parking did seem to be at a premium! Everything however was within walking distance so it wasn't really needed, although we had hoped to visit Bennetts Water Gardens, the Swannery at Abbotsbury and Exeter but we didn't wish to lose the parking space! Besides there was plenty to do in Weymouth itself so all in all a very enjoyable holiday!

Close to everything and very clean and tidy. Only down side is parking. There is no parking space for you on arrival. We did park in ground nearby but had to block to local residents in so not so good. Mid week was guaranteed space but the not knowing meant we didn’t take car out all week something we have never done before so stayed in Weymouth which wasn’t so bad. Other properties around do seem to have an area you can book so maybe the owners of Seahorse Cottage could get something like this going forward. For location and a fantasist home would give 10 out of 10.

However, the parking is an issue and should REFLECT in the price of holiday rental as I think some people would find this a problem. I did phone up prior to leaving as I realised there was no parking included. Lady said there was street parking but on a "first come" basis. The road outside actual rental is only one car wide, and then becomes slightly wider, two car wide - just. We parked on the 2 car width section and carried our belongings to cottage. We didn't move it for 4 days as we walked, and also caught the train to other towns. But we used the car thereafter. We were very lucky for parking for next couple of days upon our return. However, on the Friday evening there was no parking whatsoever and we had to leave it a good 5 minutes walk away. That wasn't too bad but I was aware we had to load car up on Saturday as we were leaving. Fortunately we were up early, and my husband noticed someone leave and rushed to bring our car back. With no "easy" available parking it somewhat alters your experience. It stops those "oh lets pop to...……………." moments as if you have a parking space you are aware that if you do pop somewhere, even to the local shop, then the likelihood of finding a parking space upon your return is doubtful.

The location was ideal for walking to town and the beach. Was very clean and had everything we needed and dog friendly! Parking is on a first come, first served basis so it did mean leaving the car further up the road from the property but we did manage to get a space on the days we had travelled out of Weymouth. The only negative comment we can say about this booking is that the cleaner turned up 40 minutes before departure time to see if the key had been left in the safe deposit box and the clean laundry was also dropped off for them. We have not experienced this before when previously booking with you.
