  • "When we arrived we noticed central heating was on,which was strange."

I realised the problem. You can't seem to turn all radiators off.So some rooms were to hot.Only way to do it is switch the boiler off. One of the showers my Daughter used in her bedroom, had Pubic hairs in it.So cleaning not very good, from previous renters. It is a big property,so I assume cleaners just tidy the place as quick as they can,but not thorough enough. Not good no wardrobes in most bedrooms.NOISE from main road awful from front bedroom, and side bedroom, really all the time. Property is dated, but some furniture as antique looks nice. The saving grace was being able to take the dog, over the Heath at rear of property.Lovely walks. But wouldn't stay here again. Not worth the money.

  • "What a wonderful house and a perfect base for exploring the local areas."

Big highlight was the garden leading onto the heath! Lovely walks with the dogs and seeing the wild deer was a bonus! The house is on a busy road but we didn’t have a problem with the noise (the house is quite far back from the road) or getting out of the driveway. Rooms were all big so lots of space for 6 adults and 2 Labradors. Neighbours next door were very helpful and friendly. Only issues were lack of wardrobe space in the upstairs bedrooms, the heat in the Apple room (maybe provide a fan) and thicker curtains would be nice in the Beech room bathroom, however, it wouldn’t stop us from booking again. We had a fantastic time and highly recommend the property!

  • "Property is on a very busy main road that is really noisy and continues all night."

Property had clearly been occupied by smokers recently and the smell was over powering. Other areas are in need of maintenance, e.g. all rear doors are stiff / not working. Overall feel is its a lovely property that has become tired. If we had known about the busy road and the local pub now being permanently closed (obviously not an issue of the property itself) then we would have booked elsewhere. Walking area from the back of the property was the one major upside, and the property is very spacious inside, bedrooms are good sized and comfortable - although the shower in one of them had a blocked drain and a faulty shower head.

  • "This is a lovely cottage, with lots of space, a large kitchen/ utility, with period furniture."

There is a large garden. We had a lovely week here.

  • "We have had a lovely stay, bright airy rooms, tastefully decorated in keeping with the age of the house."

Very comfortable. Plenty of kitchen equipment, plates etc, cutlery. Bonus is having a tumble dryer as well as a washing machine available to use. We have been lucky to stay for 3.5 weeks while having asbestos removed from our home a couple of miles away. Being here has been an oasis amongst the chaos.

  • "Pro's: 2, Heath Cottages is a lovely house in a fabulous spot, perfect for dog owners as the Heath, with miles of walks, is just through a gate in the back garden."

Facilities excellent for 6 and would be fine for 8: 4 en suite bedrooms with comfortable beds, a big table in the conservatory, deep squishy armchairs and sofas in the sitting room. The kitchen is well equipped with large appliances: cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The whole area is packed with things to do: we recommend Kingston Lacy and Brownsea Island, both NT. For a super lunch, The Barn Café at Lytchett Matravers is unbeatable. Con's: the large appliances in the kitchen are excellent: not so the crockery and cutlery. The crockery is a random selection and on the skimpy side with very few complete sets of anything. The cutlery is old, battered and unhygienic, being the sort with separate handles attached by a wobbly and unsatisfactory joint. When almost everything else at 2, Heath Cottages is of such a high standard, it really lets the place down to have such poor quality cutlery.
