  • "Lovely cottage."

Road is hilly and pavenents very narrow. No salt and pepper in kitchen and only a couple of biscuits as welcome.

  • "Very comfortable house, including everything needed."

Problems with the dilapedated key safe, as mentioned in previous reviews. Quality fittings, decorated to a high standard. Minor cleaning issues and one bed without mattress cover, but comfortable. We enjoyed our stay at Covecastle cottage.

  • "The property has everything you need ."

There were tea bags , coffee, sugar , milk and little packets of biscuits . Everything you need on arrival . Parking near the house could have been a slight issue but we used public transport which is close to the house . The house was comfortable and a lovely modern kitchen . I would definitely recommend Cove Castle .

Good location There is a beach a few hundred meters from the property. I felt that this beach was a hidden gem , more a locals beach Always managed to find a spot to park. House was spacious, clean and well equipped for our needs.

Our only complaint would be your key safe outside the door. The numbers have worn away and found it quite hard to open.

Positive points, 5 minute drive to beach, harbour, shops etc, clean, dishwasher, washing machine, decent size fridge freezer, large rooms, decent Wi-Fi, separate shower room (powerful shower), ample kitchen utensils Negative points, double bed not comfortable, no guaranteed parking space (we knew this before we booked), limited tv channels, rooms very warm even though fans were supplied,

  • "The property was very light, and airy and spacious."

However the initial entrance lobby was quite dirty. Once inside the rest of the property was clean. I agree with previous occupants in that it does feel a bit like student accommodation. Without rugs or carpets it is very echoey. Overall we had a pleasant stay. The beds, we're comfortable and there were sufficient facilities to use.

  • "Very nice house and garden, all very clean and tidy."

A few things let it down though - 1. the dining chairs are very low, so my average-height wife had to sit on a pillow to reach the table (maybe in non-pandemic times there would be cushions?), 2. the shower head is also positioned very low, so anyone of above-average height has to crouch under it, and 3. we were disturbed in the front bedroom by quite a lot of noise from the road outside, both loud passers-by and construction traffic to the Cove building site.

  • "The cottage is really spacious and in a great location for the small beach which is only a two minute walk away."

Lovely garden which we enjoyed sitting in. Can walk to main Weymouth beach in about 20 - 30 mins. Handy for fish and chips, the bus and getting out and about. Didn’t find parking on the road an issue at all. Overall cottage is well furnished and equipped. Two things it would useful to know is that there no equipment for younger kids which we would normally expect eg small plastic drinks cups, smaller cutlery etc we would happily have bought these if we had known. Also the property is single glazed with very old windows and the road was busy with cars and pedestrians until late, especially at the weekend. As the road itself is a dead end I wrongly assumed it would be quiet which an essential thing for us. Not everyone would notice this but we live in an extremely quiet village at home. The twin bedroom has a really bad smell in it, very noticeable if the door has been shut and possibly just made a lot worse by the heat? Our 3 year old did not notice with the door and window both open but I would I would have found it a problem. Overall we had a good stay.

  • "This is a spacious, quiet and well-equipped cottage, which we were very happy to stay in."

One small point is that on arrival there were dog paw prints all over the kitchen floor- which I cleaned up my self using bleach before we moved in. That's very disappointing as I am allergic to dogs and thus chose a pet-free holiday cottage. Basic hygiene is of vital importance and I felt this was sub-standard. A shame- as everything else was very good.

    The only negative was parking.

  • "I have actually sent an email to you yesterday."

I stayed for the second time in this house last week. Everything is clean, comfortable and well equipped except for the sitting room. It consisted of two leather sofas, a coffee table and an empty shelf unit. As I said I stayed here last year and found then that the Venetian blinds were better left alone as they were temperamental. I realise that Covid has made many demands on rentals as regards soft furnishings etc but to sit in that room on an autumn or winter night was not in the least cosy. Anyone renting late in the year will be reluctant to sit for long in there as it doesn’t Lend itself to comfort. This is intended to advise and to inform rather than criticise as I realise times are difficult for everyone.

  • "In the current climate I feel pillow and mattress protector should have been on all beds."

The pillows and quilts had stains on also staying for two weeks I feels we should have had more clean towels. When it rains water comes through the kitchen ceiling over the back door as the guttering is blocked this also happen at the front as well. I think a basic clean is done therefore not quite sure why we weren’t allowed in until 5pm. On a positive note having the beach so near is a bonus.

  • "The cottage was a joy to walk into after a long train journey from Suffolk - warm, spacious, well-equipped and with all mod cons, while retaining some of the original Edwardian features."

Large bedrooms and comfortable beds. Plenty of hot water for baths, a bonus having 2 loos! I agree with a previous reviewer that a couple more toilet rolls could be provided - there were only the 2 of us so we were ok but with additional guests it would be more convenient! Clothes hanging space good in both bedrooms, I think a small chest of drawers in the twin bedroom might be a useful addition. We loved the position of the cottage - so convenient for walking, seeing the interesting Rodwell Trail behind the house, with the Sandsfoot Gardens + cafe, little beach and Cove Castle a short walk away. Close to bus services into town or a very pleasant walk into Weymouth through the Nothe Gardens and the Coastal path. Plenty of far-ranging buses if you need them to take you further afield but much of interest to see in Weymouth too. We should love to return one day!

The house was better than we expected. It had everything we needed, lots of space and cupboards. We didn't expect Castle Cove to be so near and quiet so that was an added bonus. Mini-clean after a week was fine too. Will definitely book some other time. Stayed July 2018.

  • "We loved staying at Covecastle Cottage."

A really quiet residential place, near the coast path and at 15 minutes walking from the old harbour. The main bedroom is very big and comfortable. And the other bedroom is perfect for 2 people with a beautiful view on green trees and gardens. Both rooms served by this huge bathroom. Lovely kitchen, living room and dining room and another bathroom with shower. The back garden is perfect to chill out in the afternoon when the sun comes in. Every space is bigger than what appears on the website (which is a nice surprise) We would really like to go back there one day - stayed August 2017
