The village of Aultbea with two local shops and a hotel is nearby, and the town of Ullapool, the largest settlement in the area is 41 miles away and has lovely pubs and restaurants, a range of shops including a well-stocked supermarket, a coastal golf course and a museum and visitor centre. Laide is a lovely base for exploring this part of Scotland.
