  • "So dirty on our arrival that the cleaners had to visit till late to deep clean the kitchen and return the next morning to vacuum the whole house to remove dog hairs everywhere."

We had to eat out day one after a long journey and only had the house to ourselves at noon day 2. It was really cold when we arrived - the heating is set and can’t be changed. One thermostat was at 16*. As the daytime high was 13* it was very uncomfortable and didn’t warm up till day 3. The downstairs bathroom flooded into the bedroom and hall because of a blocked drain. To resolve this we cleaned out the blockage and applied Drain-o. Not a pleasant experience. The water is only heated twice a day, to a very high temperature, which is fine when we were only 3 in number. When all 10 arrived it was either scalding hot or cold. Then we had to wait 7 hours for it to start heating up again. We were instructed on how to fix that. We had to turn it on during the day and remember to turn it off at night. Next morning we were all woken up before 8 by a frightening noise from the boiler pipes. It sounded like it was going to explode. As we were now familiar with the boiler works, we tried to solve it but it persisted 30 minutes. Less importantly, basic maintenance hasn’t been done. Skirting board in bathroom falling off wall, numerous cracked tiles, old gaping mastic and grout, and a bathroom door that can’t close. There isn’t effective ventilation to any of the bathrooms - no fans that can be switched on or come on automatically. With 10 people, that can be unpleasant. On the other hand, the beds are very comfortable. We have been offered £50 refund. This was a long planned family reunion. We live all over the world and can’t get together regularly. It was such an important occasion marred by the defects of the accommodation.

  • "22 Corrie Burn List of problems Downstairs bedroom one front double showerhead holder broken does not keep head imposition and even fell off - no wardrobe Bedroom, two downstairs at the back of the house nowhere to hang anything towels always nowhere to drive them no hooks on doors no wardrobe toilet roll holder broken Bedroom 3 ( no en/suite)no chest of drawers Downstairs both from no no handheld shower over bath Upstairs twin room girls found five slugs in their room."

They had come through the French doors no mirror in there small bathroom next door no hooks in the room. Double room upstairs with ensuite floorboards very creepy they woke up at the person sleeping below shower has no handheld device just the rain shower no hooks anywhere to hang towels dressing gowns etc. Kitchen not enough glasses for 10 people. Lots of the plates and bowls are chipped not very well equipped - no nonstick pans. Rubbish - This caused a lot of problems. There was not enough wheelie bins for the amount of rubbish created by 10 people. When we arrived, it was obvious the next morning that someone had turned off the hot water so we couldn’t shower so we could not shower that morning

Dear Derek Thank you for the feedback which we appreciate as it gives us the opportunity to improve. Regarding the broken shower head and toilet roll holder we recently fixed them but obviously not successfully so we will look at them again. We will also put hooks on the back of all doors. We do not say we have wardrobes in each room but we do feel all rooms have adequate storage, either drawers or a wardrobe. Likewise the house is not advertised as each room having an en-suite but there are 4 bathrooms in total and 1 cloakroom. If you wish to discuss anything in further detail please get in touch. Thanks again Ruth Bigg (Owner) Property Owner

  • "We had a very comfortable stay at this lovely cottage."

Exploring the Highlands was an amazing experience and even better when coming to relax at Corrie Burns. It had everything we could think of therefore making us feel at home. The kids were very much occupied with the board games that were present at the property. We often come to the scottish Highlands and have stayed at many cottages and we as family agree that Corrie Burns has to be one of the top ones for us. The location was fantastic and convenient for us explore many areas of the Highlands. Thank you for making our stay so pleasant and we would definitely recommend this cottage to others.
