  • "Beautiful, quiet location."

Lovely walks to local pubs for dinner in evenings. The gentleman who is housekeeper at the owner’s house on site is very warm and helpful. A lovely peaceful hideaway for a couple.

So happy you enjoyed The Lodge - Mr Sham loves our guests . Thank You for choosing us . Amanda Mann Property Owner

  • "3 night stay."

Very comfortable bed and great location. Amazing Shower! The sofa was the only very slight fly in the ointment - designed for style over function sadly and they could do with a foot stool too. But we had a lovely stay and would definitely return.

  • "Relaxing lodge enjoyed our stay love the area, apart from property being double booked which caused concern to both parties as the owner could not be contacted."

Young lady on site did her best to resolve the issue, it would have been nice for someone to check with us to see if all was ok as this very much upset us.

  • "Location: excellent, in lovely grounds, great for sitting out in suitable weather, easy parking, ideal for walking out to the lagoons for birdwatching etc 1."

The woodburner: WARNING This is a health hazard. During wind in the "wrong" direction soot from the fire blows back through poorly sealed burner doors into the whole studio. On this occasion it was extreme filling the whole accommodation with acrid sooty smoke. The owners stated this happens if it is windy. They are clearly aware, there are no instructions on its use . A shrug of the shoulders by the owner is insufficient response. All of our belongings now have to be washed or wiped down as the smell is intolerable. A previous review states the blowback of smoke so they are aware as admitted. We could not tolerate this as it made my eyes swell and smart. We had to vacate halfway through our stay as the room state was unhealthy. It is difficult to get through ventilation due to the blackouts on the south side windows. There will be dangerous fumes always entering the room. This is carcinogenic. 2. There is no sprinkler system, fire alarm or CO monitor in such an enclosed studio space which should be mandatory. 3. The provision of 6 large books of Playboy by the bed together with walls covered in family pictures of breastfeeding, pregnancy ultrasound scans, baby feet, and general family children in swim costumes are also inappropriate. Such personal items should not be in a public rented space. 4.The Sofa needs replacing. 5. Insufficient utensils and dishes for self catering. 7. There are two large dogs in the grounds. The owner did bring them to introduce us & they are lovely but as dogs make me anxious I would have appreciated forewarning. Sykes do not inspect properties after an initial visit.

Thank you for your comments. The logburner can of course blow back in extremely windy conditions but the room can be aired via windows and doors. The logburner glass is secure and the seals are also in working order. A sprinkler system is not required by law and the property does have a carbon monoxide alarm, smoke alarm and fire blanket. The Playboy books are arty and are special editions and the photographs are of family. This is a family home where guests have the use of the annexe, we do supply pictures on the advert of the type of wall decor so that guests can make an informed decision as to whether the property is suitable for them before making a booking. • "I would not normally consider a property in the grounds of the owners home."

However, the Lodge was tempting and did not disappoint. The grounds were beautiful and the owners very considerate. The area is lovely with great walks from the door. The sea wall walk, accessed through the nature reserve, is a must. Takes you to Lymington, with outstanding views across the Solent. Local pubs good for lunch. Owners have provided a useful map. The kitchen in the property is nice and good for light meals in the evening. The wet room is amazing and bed very comfortable. We found the sofa not very comfortable but the armchair was. Loved the paintings and the books by Aimee Durnell which we did read from cover to cover. This is an interesting and unique property, well worth a visit.

Thank You for your lovely comments and happy you had a good time in the Lodge - Hope to see you again ! Property Owner

The local lanes provide excellent walking trails ( especially to the Fisherman's Rest pub ).. Special thanks to Mr Sham for his help and unfailing courtesy. We will definitely return. Tricia & Mike

So good that you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for your kind message, which I know will mean a lot to Mr Sham and all who work on keeping the Lodge and grounds as as fine as they should be. We all look forward to your return. Thanks again. Property Owner

  • "A lovely little lodge, perfect for a couple."

Full of family pics and art but adds to the individual style of the place. The wood burner is lovely but hold back on how much wood you throw on as it more than generously heats that room! We used it as a base to explore the New Forest on our gravel bikes (riding is amazing!). Would recommend Woods Cyclery for some of the best coffee I've ever tasted, The Limewood if you'd like more of a treat for supper. We also had some good seafood at The Fishermans Rest which is in walking distance. The Sea Wall right in front of the gates is also a really lovely walk. Would return for sure!

  • "Lovely weekend stay in February on our own (we usually take our dog)."

The lodge is perfect for a couple, very peaceful, wonderful walks straight from the door to the sea. It was very warm and cosy perfect for a winter break, I can imagine that it would be too hot in the summer nights as you only have the doors that open in the living space. Needs a little more lighting over the kitchen area which I noted other guests had suggested in the guest book. A welcome pack of milk etc might be nice touch although plenty of sugar, coffee and tea bags were provided. Swap the coffee machine for a microwave. Overall a lovely stay, a much needed short break in a beautiful area. Thank you.

Thanks for your feedback - we have added lighting over the kitchen and your idea of a microwave . Thanks for choosing Lymington Lodge Amanda Property Owner

  • "We loved the lodge."

The only thing that needs attention is the log burner. One of the glass panels is broken and during the very windy weather during our stay gusts would blow smoke through the hole and into the room. The location was excellent, the peace and quiet superb.

Thanks for your feedback the log burner has a new glass . Best Wishes Amanda Property Owner
