"Very happy with the house."
It was cool in the very warm temperatures we had in July. The pool table was great fun. We was allowed to bring our own bbq and fire pit and they fitted great into the garden with the benches, also the kitchen window served as a great serving hatch to pass food to go onto the bbq. Great family holiday, my daughter has asked when we can stay again. The shop and the pub just around the corner are a must visit as well.

"This property has so much potential."
It has lovely rooms with loads of space and can comfortably accommodate 10+ people. It's in a great location near the A40 but not too near. There's a pub across the road with good food and real ale and a cafe/deli directly adjacent which also does great food. It's dog friendly although our dog struggled on the wooden floors.
However, there are a few areas for improvement - firstly, the cleaning wasn't quite up to scratch. In particular the dining table was sticky when we arrived. Secondly, there isn't enough equipment (plates, glasses etc) for the number of folk that could be accommodated. Also, the washing machine is way too small for the size of property and there is no clothes line or dryer to get things dried. We also felt that the property could do with some books and/or board games. Finally, some decent patio furniture would be welcome - the wooden bench tables are fine but not particularly comfortable if you want to sit for any period of time.
We enjoyed our stay and with some small improvements, Lady of Lourdes could be a standout holiday home.
Hi Kevin, thanks for your feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Regarding your remaining feedback, please see below for my responses. 1. The cleanliness of the property, - I would normally inspect the property prior to each guest stay so I can only apologise that the table was not completely clean, I have spoken with my cleaners about this to ensure that this does not reoccur. 2. Equipment - I will check the property when the current guests leave to ensure that there is sufficient plates etc. as there were sufficient plates when I last checked, however I just need to make sure that some plates and glasses have not been broken by previous guests. 3. The washing machine is a standard family washing machine that most houses would have installed and I think that this should be sufficient for short stays, however I'm sorry if this was not suitable for your requirements. Regarding the dryer, there is a fully working tumble dryer right next to the washing machine so you might have missed this? 4. Board games and books - Whilst there are a few books at the property, I will now look to get some board games in the property for future visits. 5. Patio furniture - I did decide to have two picnic benches put in the garden as these are highly durable and should suit most occasions when guests are making the most of the outdoor space, however I'm am sorry that you did not find these comfortable. Hopefully these small issues will not prevent you from booking again in the future. Thanks, Paul

"We absolutely loved our time here, the property is much bigger than the pictures show and so it felt really spacious with family and extended family staying here all together."
Fantastic well equipped kitchen and plenty of bathrooms. It has a secure garden which was great for our 2 dogs. The location is super, very short drive to Symonds Yat. There is a gorgeous little cafe/shop just at the end of the road.

Hi Kate, thanks for your great feedback, its much appreciated. Also, thanks for your positive feedback regarding my property size, I think its sometimes difficult to show how spacious the house is in the photos, but I'm glad you enjoyed the property and also the local area, it is truly stunning. Hopefully we will see you back again in the future.

"Ideal for a family get together which included 3 kids, plenty of space the pool table was a success."
Great spot to explore Symonds Yat and the surrounding area. Possible needs a little 'pick me up' in areas to make the house superb.
Would also recommend 'Woody's' cafe down the road
Hi Craig, thanks for your feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay in my property and also that you made the most of the stunning surrounding areas. Regarding your comment stating some areas of the house needed a little pick me up, after speaking with you directly you mentioned one of the shower fittings was slightly broken so I have now replaced this. Hopefully you will book again in the future. Thanks, Paul

"We had a lovely stay at Lady of Lourdes overall."
The surrounding area was outstanding and really made the trip special. The property itself was spacious and suited our group well, however a few areas could do with some sprucing up and the beds were not the most comfortable. A couple of appliances were also not working during our stay, which was an issue with there being 10 guests staying at the property. Despite this, we still enjoyed our time there and left the house cleaner than we found it. A great base for exploring such a beautiful location. So much more potential for this beautiful house.
Thank you for your feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay as well as the surrounding area, and that the spaciousness of the property suited your group. After speaking with you directly, we are of the understanding that only two of the seven beds provided were not *to your liking* rather than all of them. Most of our guests find the beds very comfortable, though we understand comfort can be subjective. We would also like to note that it was only the freezer that was not working and this was replaced with one suitable for ten guests well in advance of your stay. We take pride in the cleanliness of the property and have never had any customer feedback to the contrary. Had we been made aware of such issues during your stay, we would have done our absolute best to address them as quickly as possible, as our guests’ comfort is of paramount importance to us. Hopefully you will choose to stay in my property again in the future.

"We had a really pleasant stay at this place."
There were six of us plus our three cats, and the house felt spacious enough to comfortably accommodate everyone without feeling crowded. It was clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully set up with plenty of amenities, which made our stay easy and enjoyable.
The location was also a big plus—centrally situated with convenient access to local attractions, making it easy to get around and explore the area without hassle.
Overall, it was a comfortable and practical place to stay, especially for a group and pets. We’d definitely consider staying here again.

"We have just spent a long weekend in this property, and have been most impressed."
The house is comfortable and spacious - our party comprised 6 adults, 4 teenagers and 4 dogs, and it never felt crowded!
The very large main kitchen/dining/leisure area was where we mostly congregated, as apart from plenty of room for food preparation and storage, it held a pool table and TV, a comfortable sofa, and a large dining table that doubled for playing board games. There is also a large lounge/TV room, and there were additional light and airy open areas on the first and second floors, with table football on the latter. The teenagers often met up in these areas, or found them a quiet place for study or reading. The pool table and table football were a great hit with adults and children alike. The enclosed garden was a boon with so many dogs, and they really appreciated the many walks we undertook.
Although the property is only minutes away from the busy A40, we were not aware of traffic noise during our stay.
The well-stocked local shop just round the corner was a bonus, and we had a lovely meal at the Potting Shed, only a short walk away. The town of Monmouth is only a short drive away.
The property is located close to the River Wye, and the well-known view point of Symonds Yat rock. The immediate area around the property is criss-crossed with numerous footpaths, many offering beautiful views across the surrounding countryside. There is so much to see and do in this area, that we really should have had a longer stay!
I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone seeking the perfect place to stay in this beautiful area.
Thankyou so much for this great review Ann. I am so glad you and your friends enjoyed your stay at my house and that you all enjoyed the great countryside around my property. It sounds like you really made the most of your stay. I hope to welcome you and your friends back to my house again soon. Thanks, Paul

"We stayed at Lady of Lourdes last week and absolutely loved our time there."
The property is a beautiful home with lovely bedrooms and extremely comfortable beds, making it a very relaxing stay from start to finish. There is plenty of room throughout the house, with generous space both indoors and outdoors, which made it feel welcoming and never cramped.
We particularly appreciated how dog-friendly the property is. The large garden was perfect for our dogs to explore and enjoy safely, which made a big difference for us and added greatly to the overall experience.
One of the highlights of our stay was the pool table — it was fantastic and provided hours of entertainment for everyone. It really added to the enjoyment of the property and gave us a great communal space to spend time together.
As a small suggestion for the future, a dart board, a TV near the pool table area, and possibly a settee would make the space even more comfortable and enhance the experience further. These are only minor recommendations, as the property itself is already wonderful.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend Lady of Lourdes to others looking for a spacious, comfortable, and dog-friendly place to relax.
Thanks for your feedback Gabby, very much appreciated and I'm glad you and your party enjoyed your stay. Regarding your suggestions, I have now put a sofa and also a TV in the kitchen/Diner area as I agree these should enhance future stays and create a new space for people to relax and enjoy their time in my house. Thanks, Paul

"Not what you’d expect based on the price we paid, main concerns with comfort of beds provided, poor showers and cleanliness of kitchen areas."
House itself was good as it was big enough for a party of 10 and dog friendly.
Thanks for your feedback Carl. I have tried to reach out to you via Sykes to gain some further clarification as to the concerns you had, however there has been no response back. So, to run through each concern, please see below:
1. Comfort of beds - Virtually every bed and mattress in the house were purchased only a few months ago so I am surprised that you did not feel these were all comfortable. I have always tried to ensure that the all beds are comfortable for guests to stay in.
2. Poor showers - I have recently gone to the house to test all of the showers and they all appear to be working absolutely fine, so I'm not sure why you felt these were poor.
3. Cleanliness of Kitchen areas - I use professional cleaners who clean the house in-between guest stays and I always ensure that the whole house has been cleaned to a high standard, so I am surprised that you felt that cleanliness of the kitchen was a concern.
If you were able to come back to the message that has been sent to you via Sykes with some further clarifications on your points above, I would be happy to address each of these with you. Hopefully these issue would not put you off booking again in the future. Thanks, Paul
