A pretty Herefordshire village nestling on the banks of the River Wye, close to the Welsh border. Many lovely walks can be enjoyed from the village with the Herefordshire Trail, Wye Valley Walk and Offa's Dyke Path all passing close by. The whole area is renowned for its beautiful countryside, which provides excellent cycling, bird watching, fishing and canoeing in the nearby River Wye - look out for the otters by the river and the Red Kites above! Nearby, the delightful medieval village of Eardisley is part of Herefordshire's famous Black & White Village Trail. It boasts many early 16th century black and white cottages, two pubs and village shop. Hay on Wye, the 'town of books', renowned for it's world famous Hay Festival of Literature, lies on the Welsh/English border. This ancient market town lies on the River Wye in the Brecon Beacons National Park, and is renowned for its many book shops, antique shops, restaurants and cafes, surrounded by beautiful countryside. The ancient city of Hereford, the epitome of picturesque England, lies just over half an hour’s drive away, with its magnificent cathedral housing its famous chained library and Mappa Mundi. Builth Wells can be reached within a pleasant drive, and is home to an 18-hole golf course, a pony trekking centre and a selection of amenities, plus each July it plays host to the Royal Welsh Show. Visit the popular riverside towns of Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth or try the excellent cafes and restaurants in Ludlow and Abergavenny.
