"We were very happy with our stay."
The caravan was clean overall and felt very homely and sweet with all the seaside interior. Access was made very easy and the views were superb! Everything one could need was provided. We would definitely consider coming back. We stayed with our 4 year old son and he was very happy too.
The only minus was that the gas supply ran out on the last day of our stay with no heating or hot water available, also the hob didn't work as a result. There was no direct number to contact the owner about this. House keeping eventually communicated the issue but by the time the gas bottles were replaced we had already left.
We also suggest a couple of small bins for the two bathrooms to be provided, and instructions on how to regulate the heating properly throughout the caravan as the only way for us to do so was to switch the boiler on or off completely (with the sun out during the day it was too hot for the heating to be on but we definitely needed it at night).
Hello Susie,
Thank you for your feedback and I am so sorry you had an issue with the gas boiler. To be honest both gas bottles were replaced at the beginning of April and the caravan has only used for 13 days, including your stay since the replacement and therefore there should have been absolutely sufficient supply for your stay. I am discussing this with the site maintenance team.
The number you had for the issue, is the company who clean and look after the caravan for me.
I will as per your suggestion place two bathroom bins and the gas boiler instructions were on the door of the cupboard where the gas boiler is located, but the next time I am over I will review them and see if I can leave easier instructions.
I am glad you enjoyed the stay - the view is rather lovely and thank you for your comments.
Kind regards,
Kim

"The caravan is very well decorated - a lot of thought has gone into it to make it welcoming and cosy for the evenings."
It was also well stocked with kitchen accessories. It was a nice touch to find milk in the fridge, ice in the freezer, and some tea/coffee/sugar and cookie products for us to use. There's just a few things we'd like to mention for future guests:
1. It wasn't clear from the listing if the Wi-Fi mentioned was the park Wi-Fi, or if the caravan had it's own, so for the first couple of nights we were trying to use the park Wi-Fi, which is completely unreliable. We located the caravan's Wi-Fi router and got the details from that. It needs to be made clear that the accommodation has it's own Wi-Fi to use and where to find the log-in details.
2. The park site advertises an app you can use to look at park information and to order food, however, please be aware that as a private guest on site, this app can't be used. It would be good if Away Resorts (who own the site) could work with private owners and sort out a way to resolve this.
3. The lock to the en-suite bathroom door didn't work.
4. The patio doors to the decking don't close smoothly - you need to pull them quite hard to close them. Only mentioning this in case future residents have young children trying to sleep, as the noise from the door might wake them.
5. When we booked the caravan it listed that a washing machine was located in the lockable shed outside, so we assumed we would have access to it - why list it if it's not there to be used? We didn't have a key to the shed so we used the phone number provided to ask about it. We hoped the contact number would be for the owners, but it turned out to be the cleaner. The cleaner said they weren't sure if the machine was included in our booking and offered to ask the owner. We replied with a description of the listing we'd receive about the machine, which should have made it clear that we wanted to know about getting access to it, but we never got a reply back. This issue with the washing machine was a bit disappointing, but the fact that the cleaner never replied to us made us think that had we had a real problem in the caravan, we might not have been able to contact the owner asap.
6. Although the caravan was very clean and tidy in most places, there were small spiders living in most of the rooms on the ceilings, so we feel closer attention needs to be given to these areas.
Hello Laura,
Thank you for your feedback. I did see this message earlier but I had to ask Sykes to add something to my account in order for me to respond so apologies for the late response.
Apologies about the router and Wifi I seriously thought the details were at the caravan but will make sure for future bookings the password and location is made more clearly available.
Regarding the washing machine - this was listed as an error last year and Sykes removed it and I believed they were going to contact the existing bookings and explain that there wasn't access to the washing machine.
As owners we are in constant discussions with the Away Resorts team regarding various points on the park - not everything is resolved yet.
Patio Doors are now fixed and I will check the en-suite bathroom lock when I am next over there.
Sorry about the spiders!
Hope you enjoyed your time on the IOW.

"Arriving to find the premises unserviced, bed linen unchanged and bins unemptied was not the best of starts."
Not the best of starts as it meant we couldn't unpack and settle in until after 18.30. But it was dealt with efficiently and we were grateful for the offer of payment for eating in a local restaurant.
But the longer we stayed, the more omissions and potential problems became apparent. Just finding an unnumbered, un-named holiday home amongst 200+ identical buildings isn't easy. How about providing one of the sitemaps given away free by the site office?
In 25+ years of cottage hire we have never arrived to find absolutely no instructions or local information (doctors, bus routes, cab firms, emergency instructions, takeaway's etc.). Wi-fi password, CH boiler instruction, (even location). Cooker. Microwave. Knowing the CH boiler location would have been useful. Refuse disposal instructions. All absent.
The cottage itself would have been dangerous if we had children with us.,Cables dangled from the second bedroom TV, and the satellite dish on the veranda. Light fittings fell from the kitchen cabinet. and mini lights draped around the main TV begged for small children to grab them..
If you plan to take children and use the listed on-site facilities: note that they are sited across a busy country road .
Overall, a lot of thought has been put into providing necessary equipment, for guests, but very little into what is needed to help them enjoy their stay.. After all, that's what it's all about

"Hi
We had a great stay at crosswinds ."
It is a very nicely maintained and equipped lodge.
Two things firstly the second bedroom has extremely narrow beds ,I went with 2 adult children and they were slightly squished!!!!.
Also there is a lot of ornaments everywhere , which although pretty to look at ,makes the place look cluttered and would be very stressful for parents with little kids .
The swimming pool and facilities are in the other part of the holiday park , a bit of a trek. But this part is much quieter and stunning views .we loved sitting on the deck and watching the sunset .the planes taking off was intersting .the lodge was very clean and well equipped and thank you for a lovely stay .

"We had such a lovely stay at this caravan in Crosswinds."
My son absolutely loved it and is keen for us to book again for next summer. The property was very clean, had all the equipment you could need such as washing up liquid, toilet paper, hand wash, tea towels (bring your own kitchen hand towel and apron). I do think fans would be an asset in the bedrooms though as it was really hot when we stayed. The only negative I'd say is that there are too many trinkets around the caravan taking up valuable storage space for the guests such as shelves in the bathrooms and in the lounge area. Plus, we had a 2 year old who just wanted to touch them all so we were paranoid about potential breakages. Also, a welcome pack would be useful giving information about the site, how to use the oven, what recycling is in place etc.
The site itself (Whitecliffe Bay Holiday Park) is lovely. You have to pay for use of the swimming pool which was fine. We paid £43 for 4 of us at the height of summer for the week. Both indoor and outdoor pools are clean.
Overall definitely somewhere where you can enjoy your holiday on the IOW.
Hi Heather, thank you so much for your review which I truly appreciate and all your comments.
This is our first year of renting out our caravan and in all honesty hadn't thought about fans in the bedrooms which will be put in place as soon as I can get over to the IOW.
I too didn't think about our ornaments and will ensure things are removed to create more storage spaces for the clients and to take the worry away of breakages If young toddlers are staying there too!
I will also add a welcome back of info for the caravan, camp site and IOW.
Great points and I am pleased you had a lovely time on the IOW.
Kind regards, Kim

"This caravan was beautiful, it had a real home from home cost welcoming feel to it."
Very clean and well maintained. We had an issue with the toaster and the waste pipe from the sink had come away on the first night (a Saturday) but after some quick and efficient call and messaging with the man at Wight Choice Cleaning (via the accomodarion contact number) he came out Sunday morning to fix everything. This stay exceeded my expectations the view from the balcony was stunning and the added bonus of watching light air craft take off and land at Bembridge airfield was great fun. You don't expect views like that at a caravan site! Only small recommendation would be to have a broom/dustpan and brush for inside and out. The grass was cut whilst we stayed there and one day was wet so the grass easily transferred on to the balcony which also meant it coming inside too. We did remove shoes at the door but again with beach days too I felt we could have helped maintain the cleanliness of the caravan with a broom. Apart from that a very well stocked kitchen, even plastic storage containers. These small but well thought about details made our stay as a family of 4 much easier so thank you! We'd definitely book again bevause we were close to everything we wanted to explore locally but also go West was only 50mins/an hour and the drive is stunning. Thanks again for a truly memorable stay my girls were sad to leave.
Hi Adele,
Thank you for the lovely comments about our caravan and I am pleased the initial couple of issues got fixed. I believe there is a dustpan and brush in the bathroom where the boiler is located - stored in the cupboard. If not I will ensure one is in place ASAP.
With kind regards,
Kim

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
The place was comfortable, clean, airy and had a lovely freshness to it.
The view is attractive and is a perfect location for planes spotters.
What we would have appreciated is more transparency regarding the cost attached to the use of the on-site facilities.
We had to pay £32 for both of us. Beware that the price varies according to the time of the year and length of the stay and number of people.
We stayed in the middle of May and for 4 nights.
What was also a bit of a setback is that two days before our arrival we were informed by Skyes Cottages that since booking our holiday there has been a change to this property and that there was no more washing-machine at this property and this was an error in the description however a coin launderette on site was available with no mention of what that may cost.
It was a bit of disappointment as this was one of our criteria for booking.
Also upon receiving that email, I went to check online and the washing-machine was and it is still listed in the summary as so ‘Note: The washing machine is located in the lockable shed'.
More transparency in this area would also have been welcomed.
Hi Marie,
Thank you for your review and totally appreciate and understand your disappointment about the washing machine. This was an error on the website and a delay in the description getting changed.
I am pleased you enjoyed your stay.

Kim
