The property

4 Copse Lane is a delightful pet-friendly house set in the village of Freshwater on the Isle of Wight.

Well-suited to two couples, families, or groups of friends looking to explore this varied corner of the island, this abode boasts an open-plan layout, a toasty woodburning stove, and proximity to local amenities and the Isle of Wight Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Pull up onto the gravel parking area at the front of 4 Copse Lane and follow the path down the side of the house to the entrance.

Once inside, the sitting room sets a relaxed tone, with wooden flooring underfoot and a bay window drawing in natural light.

The corner sofa and armchair invite you to sit back after a day out, whether that is with a film on the TV or a drink in hand as the woodburning stove is lit and the room begins to glow.

In the evenings, this space naturally becomes a place to gather, chat, and unwind, with the sofa bed offering flexible sleeping when needed.

A cloakroom on the ground floor adds convenience, particularly after coastal walks or time spent outdoors.

Upstairs, the bedrooms provide calm spaces to settle into at the end of the day.

One double bedroom features a wardrobe and armchair, offering a quiet corner to sit and read, while photography of the local coastline lines the walls, reflecting the landscapes beyond the village.

A sofa bed in the snug adds versatility to the room, making it suitable for a range of group arrangements.

Close by, the family bathroom offers the choice of a long soak in the bath or a refreshing shower, with a heated towel rail adding a welcome touch.

The second double bedroom benefits from its own en-suite with a walk-in shower, creating a private retreat where mornings can begin at an unhurried pace.

After unpacking, it is easy to settle into a routine that feels both practical and relaxed, supported by thoughtful touches throughout the house.

Outside, the patio provides a natural extension of the living space.

It is a pleasant spot for morning coffee, laid-back lunches, or evenings spent grilling supper while the light fades.

A shop is within easy reach for essentials, and the nearby pub makes an appealing option for nights when you fancy heading out on foot.

The open-plan living space is arranged for time together, with a clear sense of flow between cooking, dining, and relaxing.

Sleek black fixtures and tiled walls frame the kitchen area, where the Range cooker with electric oven and hob takes centre stage, encouraging slower meals and shared preparation rather than rushed routines.

Fresh ingredients can be unpacked and spread out, pans warming as conversation gathers around the dining table.

Beyond this, the space softens into a sitting area with a stylish and rustic feel, ideal for lingering with a book or stretching out after supper.

Open the doors and step directly onto the patio, letting fresh air and daylight shape the rhythm of the day and making it easy to drift between indoors and out.

For a day immersed in nature, head to The Needles, where cliff‑top paths open out to sweeping sea views, chalk stacks rise dramatically from the water below, and the changing light transforms the coastline as you walk.

Families will enjoy a trip to Osborne House, spending time moving through grand yet personal rooms, wandering gardens that slope gently towards the sea, and finishing the day on the beach where history and setting come together.

For a deeper sense of the island’s past, Carisbrooke Castle offers wide views from its walls, atmospheric interiors filled with stories, and open grounds that invite you to explore at an easy pace.

Make 4 Copse Lane your base for island days, coastal walks, and relaxed evenings back at home.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £350.

FRESHWATER

Yarmouth 3 miles; Cowes 16 miles; Fishbourne 16 miles; Ryde 18 miles.

Freshwater is situated at the western tip of the Isle of Wight and consists of Freshwater Village and Freshwater Bay. Freshwater village offers a good selection of small independent shops, cafes and the West Wight Sports Centre and Indoor Swimming Pool. The magnificent high chalk cliffs, rolling downs and delightful beaches at Freshwater Bay and nearby Compton Bay attract many visitors and surfers all year round. The renowned Freshwater Bay Golf Club, which overlooks the English Channel has stunning coastal sea views from most tees and offers a superb day out for golfers of all abilities, whilst the area is a haven for birdwatchers, cyclists and walkers with many wonderful walks to be enjoyed not only on West Wight but across the entire Isle of Wight criss-crossing over a much varied island landscape. Locally, Afton Down (the location of the famous 1970 Isle of Wight Music Festival), and Tennyson Down are the most popular walks. At the foot of Tennyson Down is the Dimbola Museum and Photographic Galleries. The Needles Pleasure Park at Alum Bay with its coloured sand cliffs and chairlift to the beach is just south west of Freshwater, plus a little further afield on the north coast of the Isle of Wight is the premier yachting centre of Cowes. Osborne House (the former home of Queen Victoria) is located at East Cowes. The nearby Farringford Hotel on the edge of Freshwater Bay was once the home of the British Poet Laureate, Alfred Lord Tennyson, and many notable poets, authors and painters have been attracted to the area of West Wight over the years. With the seaside town of Yarmouth close by with its busy harbour and pier, shops, inns, eateries and impressive Tudor castle, this is an ideal base for an enjoyable holiday.
