  • "Booked CAPE 12 for 3 nights."

Property had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. It was just dirty. Kitchen Bin lid discusting, bin was very smelly, cobwebs and spiders absolutely everywhere in the property on the shelf above above the sink, with loads of dead flies on the shelf , above the cooking hob, in every corners of the property. The bathroom shelf was covered of dirty dried soap. The floor was covered with breadcrumbs everywhere. Whilst i had to clean all this myself ( arrived after 4 pm as requested but had to go food shopping didnt get back til nearly 6 pm) I was mostly discussed with the cookware that was just horrible ( completely burnt on the inside, mould looking spots on the pans). The bathroom bin with rust on the lid and the pedal ( was scared to touch this and catch something). First thing the following morning, I got in touch with the owners with all my complaints, I even sent videos and pictures of everything that was wrong. Only one of them responded very quickly saying the property had been cleaned the day before our arrival but organised for the Cleaners to come that very morning and said was sending a little something my way as an appology. I had two lovely ladies that came in that morning at 10:30. Once they looked at the property they themselves recognised that it had not been cleaned. They even mentioned the bathroom mirror that I did not even spot and other little bits around. I mentioned that I had cleaned a lot of things in the property, including the ouside table and chairs that were also discusting. They were very apologetic and said that it should’ve been cleaned as well as the rest of the house prior to our arrival but clearly had not been done. I gave all the cookware to the Cleaners who were absolutely shocked of the state of the pans and said they will need to have them professionally cleaned and if he did not Work thry would have to ask for new pans. when the Cleaners left they gave me a box of biscuits…….my guess the appology from the owners… Some people may feel that it was a nice gesture. I personally feel a little offended. I think some sort of small refund should’ve been done after all the night rate isn’t cheap and the first basis would require it to be clean with cooking utensils you can actually use. I am not an animal…. After my complaint and after the cleaners had been, i have not heard back at all once from the owners, not checking that the work had been done not checking that it did not waste my time. Nothing…. No real facilities at West Bay (no reception to speak to anyone), information sent by sykes cottages was good, though cottage very hard to find on arrival. There are maps but it doesn’t tell you name of cottage ( for example cape 8 was in a different section from cape 12- in map it refers as A12 not cape 12). Anyway eventually manage to find someone to help and got there eventually. In all not a very good place to rent, had limited way to cook diner due to filthy cookware . I personally always go for self catering as easier with mids but also cheaper, and i never had such situation like this. All i can say is it is a shame that i can’t upload pictures and video to this review as much need to be shown.
