  • "I was staying on this cottage on 14 August 2026 and had booking till 16 August 2026 but still I walked out on 15 August 2026 because had very bad experience."

    I just came on the day and contacted the owner regarding cleaning. But I am not satisfied with the cleaning I am lots of ants roaming on the floor. And very big spiders and mosquito And very bad odour from cottage that was so unbearable Complete suffocation, it's too hot. Not even a fan the balcony was so dirty and messed up . When confronted so they just said its an island and ants and spiders are common. They don't accept that the property is not maintained at any cost . And your entrance is bullshit dirty so dirty like it has been months it is not cleaned. When your entrance is dirty and there are small holes in walls from where ants make a way so it is a permanent invitation to spiders and other insects. It was really hell trip for me and my family. I was literally helpless to move out before my check out. I am not able to sleep even my 5 year old baby. My whole trip is ruined because of these guys . I have so many photos for reference.

  • "Arrived much later than expected (8."

    30pm) to find Cape 14 had not been cleaned (bed unmade, used towels still in bath). I called housekeeping immediately, who placed us in Cape 11 as alternative accommodation for our five night stay. (She bought us a bottle of fizz for the inconvenience). Review of Cape 11: due to the heatwave the chalet was stifling, we opened all the doors and windows, but unfortunately the fan light window in the double room didn't open (reported but not fixed) and later we found the main window in the twin room had 'dropped' so closing up was difficult Once we'd settled and had a good night's sleep we found the chalet to be comfortable for relaxing and was well equipped for a self catering break. The deck area, overlooking the green, was pleasant and a real sun trap until around 2pm. Unfortunately, with so much sunlight streaming through, it highlighted dust and cobwebs under cabinets and dining room chairs. The bathroom had good space, towels were a great size, but again areas like the door frame and skirting (beneath radiator) needed a deep clean. In summary, a comfortable stay but could be much cleaner.

YARMOUTH

Newport 12 miles; Ryde 18 miles.

The attractive seaside town of Yarmouth is the oldest town on the Isle of Wight, and its busy harbour is a haven for all kinds of watercraft, with the terminal used for regular mainland ferry crossings to Lymington. Yarmouth’s narrow streets are home to an attractive array of shops and inns, whilst a visit to Henry VIII’s castle is not to be missed. There's great cycling (and a cycle hire shop) and walking to be had along the coastal path. Why not take an energetic stroll at the nearby Tennyson Down and Headon Warren. Sandhard beach is 15 minutes' walk away, with Colwell Bay with its sandy beach and amenities for the family 7 minutes away by car. Yarmouth's pier and sailing club jetty is another good spot for crabbing. Four miles away is Compton Bay, famous for dinosaur remains; head there at low tide and see if you can find the two enormous three-toed feet. West Wight is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Yarmouth is an ideal base from which to explore this wonderful island.
