  • "Chose this as we needed a restful week with peace and quiet before Christmas."

The property felt generally tired. Kitchen adequate but very dark. Sofa in sitting room looked old and worn/ stained and not that comfortable. Mouse droppings in kitchen cupboards shocking. I have a vermin phobia and so did not relax rest of the week. Wanted to leave but partner wanted to stay. Emailed/phoned then spoke to owners who did not apologies and wanted me to move bait box which was behind the sofa in sitting room to kitchen!! Owners said had to get vermin infestation company in four times a year!! Main bedroom had boiler underneath which came on at 7.30 every morning and woke us up noise got louder as water drawn from it. Vermin electrical device on landing not PAT tested for over a year, light from this showed under door at night. Light from monoxide tester flashed all night reflected in a glass in picture opposite. Place got hotter as week progressed with no way of turning heating down, no thermostat. Also told not to open windows so no way of cooling down. Information book generally quite negative with no advice on walks, restaurants etc just ‘don’t do this’ Glad to get home for a good nights sleep. Owners need to be honest about vermin, which come in through the roof as it is in the country need to inform guests also need to get all pipes etc properly insulated so noise from boiler not as loud. Suggest someone from Sykes stays there to sees what it’s like!

  • "This was our first visit to the Island for many years."

Our hosts were very friendly and informative about places to visit. They keep Kitty’s Loft and the gardens in excellent condition and in these strange times, do everything to keep themselves and guests safe. Restrictions placed on them to make Kittys Loft Covid safe has meant they have had to remove some items from the accommodation but this was expected and did not interfere with our stay. Kittys Loft is set in a quiet area with easy access to all the major towns and places of interest. Moving around the Island we always felt Covid safe and everywhere we went for meals, everybody adhered to safe distancing and we never felt uncomfortable at any time. Even the weather was good to us

  • "We had awful weather for our October half term holiday but Kity's Loft was warm and comfortable."

The radiators had thermostats on them so we were able to set the temperature we wanted in each room, keeping the bedrooms cooler and the living room warmer. The bedrooms were a very good size and the beds were extremely comfortable. There wasn't anything we needed that we didn't find in the kitchen. It was well stocked with cutlery and other essentials. We didn't have the right weather to make use of the garden but I think it would be a lovely place to stay in the summer. I would recommend this property.

.....loved this place and would love to go back in the summer. 5 stars

It was much more than we expected for the price we paid. It was also very well placed for seeing most of the island. We all felt staying in the cottage added much to the enjoyment of our holiday.

  • "In the listing there's no picture of the bathroom, may be worth adding this as quite small with only shower cubicle, no bath."

The bathroom is also on the ground floor so could be an issue for night time visits! We also felt another hand towel could be provided as only one small one for us both, plus only one loo roll! Probably being picky here but more & larger towels provided in other accommodation and always more loo roll & toiletries. Otherwise a lovely cottage in beautiful setting, well placed for visiting all of the island.

Owner Response: 'The details regarding the accommodation clearly state that there is a ground floor shower room, with toilet and hand basin. This fact should have been taken into account before booking the cottage if a bath was considered necessary. The provision of a toilet roll is a complimentary item, as the cottage is 'self catering', and individuals have preferences for particular brands. The provision of toiletries is not something we provide as we feel that is a personal requirement depending on the individual's taste. We do however, provide a branded hand wash dispenser for convenience An extra hand towel could have been made available, had it been requested, as we are close by.' Many thanks Barbara Williams Property Owner

  • "The cottage was very warm, well equipped, clean and comfortable."

The garden sitting area was very pretty and the weather was so brilliant (early September) we were able to eat our breakfast outside in the sunshine every morning and it was very quite and peaceful, as although the cottage is situated on a road there is very little traffic; all we could hear was the soft bleating of sheep in a nearby field and birdsong. The property is situated on the south of the island which is supposed to have its own micro-climate being warmer and sunnier than the rest of of the island and this seemed definitely to be the case, and the tropical gardens at Ventnor, which are well worth a visit, are a testimony to this. There is a very nice pub in Godshill called 'The Taverners', about 10 minutes drive from the cottage, which is very popular and the food is excellent , using all local produce, but you do need to book early as it is very popular. We also visited the 'Spyglass' in Ventnor which is right on the edge of the sea and sells delicious crab sandwiches; the crab is locally sourced from the island's fishermen. There is plenty of seating outside and inside it is distinctly quirky with loads of character. Another nice pub with a view is 'The Folly' on the Medina River which is very close to Osborne House,. Do visit Osborne House and gardens, it is an amazing place and in recent years Queen Victoria's private beach has been opened up to the public and you can bathe there, not fully clothed as Queen Victoria did (check out her bathing machine), or just relax on a deckchair with an ice-cream. We have been on the Isle of Wight for day trips, but not for a full week and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we would definitely like to go again and stay at 'Kitty's Loft' and if we are lucky Barbara and Kitty might have a 'cream tea' ready for our arrival as last time!
