The property

Meregate Cottage is a charming house situated in the vibrant seaside town of Margate, Kent.

Offering welcoming interiors, an enclosed garden and a woodburning stove, this inviting retreat is well-suited to families and friends seeking a coastal break.

Parking the car along the quiet terrace, you step out into a street lined with period homes that hint at Margate’s Victorian character.

Meregate Cottage sits among them with warm brickwork and inviting frontage, and as you walk up to the door, you can already sense the blend of seaside charm and thoughtful touches waiting inside.

A short stroll in one direction brings you toward the creative hum of the old town and Dane Park which is perfect for dog walking while a leisurely wander the other way leads you towards Margate’s well-loved beach.

Opening the door, you arrive in a hallway that settles you straight into holiday mode.

Moving ahead, the dining room immediately draws you in with its wooden table set beneath a graceful bay window where natural light pours across the room.

You can imagine lingering here for unhurried breakfasts, sharing family meals or planning your day while watching the neighbourhood gently stir to life.

Through the hatch connecting the dining room to the kitchen, voices and activity move easily between the two spaces, perfect for relaxed days at home.

Stepping into the kitchen, you find everything arranged with an inviting practicality.

You might place fresh pastries on the breakfast bar, open the doors to let coastal air drift in, or potter about while preparing lunch that can be carried effortlessly out to the patio beyond.

The mature planted garden stretches out with a peaceful lawn, offering a place for children to play or for grown-ups to settle outside with a drink as the day slows.

Returning indoors, the living area invites you to sink into the sofa and rest your feet on the fluffy rug while the woodburning stove casts a warm glow that naturally brings everyone together.

You might flick on the TV for a gentle evening or reach for the games tucked nearby to enjoy time unwinding after a day of exploring.

When night approaches, you climb the stairs to the bedrooms where calm and character meet.

The king-size room offers a peaceful retreat with soft lighting and a TV neatly concealed within the wardrobe, allowing you to sink into bed and enjoy a moment of quiet at the end of the day.

The second bedroom features delightful panelling and a triple bunk arrangement that suits families and friends beautifully, giving younger guests a space that feels both fun and comforting.

A well-presented bathroom with both bath and shower offers a refreshing start to each morning or a relaxing soak before drifting to sleep.

Outside, the rear garden serves as a natural haven for slow mornings and lingering evenings, with greenery surrounding the patio and lawn, ideal for dining outdoors or enjoying a quiet moment while children play within view.

Beyond the cottage, essentials lie within an easy walk, from a local shop for supplies to a welcoming pub for relaxed dining, while the beach waits close by for salt air, shoreline wanders and days spent by the sea.

Within easy reach, the wider Kent coast offers memorable days out.

Canterbury sets the scene for a journey through time, where you can step beneath ancient arches, wander along cobbled lanes lined with independent shops and stand in awe beneath the soaring height of its cathedral’s stained glass.

Ramsgate brings a lively maritime charm with its harbourfront cafés, secret tunnels carved into the cliffs and breezy marina walks that pair perfectly with fresh seafood.

Broadstairs captures the essence of a classic seaside escape, with its golden horseshoe bay, cliff top paths overlooking the waves and the chance to explore places once loved by Charles Dickens.

Meregate Cottage offers a delightful base for enjoying the character of Margate and the beauty of the Kent coastline, giving families and friends a welcoming place to relax, explore and make lasting memories by the sea.
