  • "We had a very nice stay again at Bumblebee cottage."

It was warm and comfortable and well placed to get to Faversham and further afield. It is just a walk from Brogdale National fruit collection which during our visit was at its best with blossoming fruit trees. Again thank you Natasha for the afternoon tea that was waiting for us on arrival.

Thank you glad you enjoyed your stayed Property Owner

  • "On arrival afternoon tea is provided, this was sandwiches, pork pies, sausage roll and a large tray of cup cakes."

Bumble bee cottage is a small terrace house with lots of furniture which can make moving around the rooms a little awkward. We moved some of the wicker furniture in the main bed room into the second bedroom that we were not using. There is only a 2 seater sofa, if you have a 3rd person they need to sit on a small rocking chair. Nice sized bath with plenty of hot water and some bubble bath is provided. The kitchen had a large variety of utensils even an egg slice, we donated a cheap set of knives we purchased from Tesco's as the knives were not sharp enough to do veg. Loads of dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid was provided. The outside space is not great, it is all concrete. The space around the back door is small and has several wheelie bins, a water butt and a compost bin meaning you are squeezing past bins to get to the gate. The area past the gate is an access way for the neighbours who walk their dog though. You have to keep dogs on a lead at all times and the gate is only 3ft and flimsy. Parking is on the road, never had an issue getting a space, but there is a school just up the road so at pickup time the road is really busy.

Thank you for staying at bumble bee cottage Yes it small and I’m aways around if you ever need me thank you for the knifes was very kind to leave them glad you enjoyed your afternoon tea As lounge is small sadly I could not find 3 seater That fitted , but I will keep looking for one Natasha Property Owner

  • "We stayed in Bumblebee Cottage mainly for the Hopfestival in Faversham."

Mixed feelings about our stay, and alas mostly not good. The only good things: at arrival a very comprehensive cream tea, with cakes and sandwiches, the very comfortable bed and the location in Ospringe, central enough to visit divers amenities and seeing the sights. The negatives: too small cottage for a 2-week stay. Dated and very "loud" interior, with knicknacks everywhere there's a free space. No personal contact with owner. No information about emergency-contact numbers, no WiFi password (after a long search we found it on the underside of the modem), no userguides of (the dated) appliances. TV only via WiFi, no live-TV, for older people not suitable. One roll of toiletpaper for 2 people for 2 weeks? No kitchen paper, no dishwasher tablets. Garden furniture not comfortable. We can conclude that we will not be back in Bumblebee Cottage. We found it Sykes unworthy!

Sorry to hear that you had a disappointing visit at our quaint cottage. I’m sorry that the cottage wasn’t to your taste, it may be small and quaint but that is what many say adds to its character. I feel disappointed about the comment regarding no personal contact with the owner as we spoke on the phone which is also the number to use in emergency should you need anything. Sorry that you had trouble with the TV, there is live TV but we will look into having a guide to make using it clearer. However thank you for your comments, your feedback allows us to provide better future service. Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed the quirky decor and homely comfort of Bumble Bee Cottage."

Sitting cuddled up on the sofa watching Sat night TV after a few beers and games of cards in the cottage garden back yard during a warm sunset. We'd been to the market and found the location perfect, everything was close by, including a lovely park with a cafe. Arriving to tasty sandwiches and our favourite cakes was really appreciated after a busy day!

  • "We really appreciated the homely feel of Bumble Bee Cottage; it really offered a cosy setting for a restful break."

The tea on arrival was truly a feast and such a kind touch to start our holiday with - the abundant cakes provided sweet treats for each of the following days of our stay! The location of the cottage was also perfect for exploring Faversham and the beautiful surrounding area, as well as for experiencing some of the lovely, historic pubs nearby - we were treated like locals at The Ship! All in all it really felt like a home from home and that we were very welcome guests at the Bumble Bee! Thank you

Bed was really comfortable so slept very well. Natasha was extremely helpful. The shower was not running well and she called her plumber out straight away so it was sorted promptly. She also replaced the TV as the original one was not working well on the indoor aerial. There were lots of extras left for us such as butter milk and jam in the fridge and a wonderful afternoon tea which we really appreciated. There were also dog biscuits and bowls. Thanks again Natasha.

About the location

FAVERSHAM

Chilham 7 miles; Whitstable 9 miles; Canterbury 9 miles.

Faversham is a thriving market town in the heart of Kent. With many interesting places to see and things to do, this lovely town offers visitors the chance to explore, shop, cycle, walk, swim, fish, or dine out and also boasts the oldest brewery in Britain dating back to 1698. It was due to the brewery that "hop picking" became the family holiday for many families living in London, right up until the 1950s. During the summer, thousands of people would descend on the fields around Faversham, put up their tents and spend the days "hop picking", thus making this one of the best places to enjoy a pint or two! Faversham is proud of its history and the town is even named in the Domesday Book and with its cobbled streets and medieval houses, tiny quaint pubs and many listed buildings, this town enjoys remembering its fascinating history. For those looking to experience the outdoor life, Faversham has more than enough to keep you entertained, why not take a swim in one of the all-year-round swimming pools? In the summer, Faversham offers three outdoor pools with diving boards, a paddling pool and white water rapids, you can even pack a picnic and make a day of it, there is plenty of grass around the pools for picnics and for children to play on. Around Faversham there are numerous walks, just pick up a leaflet from the tourist office and make your choice. If you fancy an evening at the cinema then the Royal is just the place to visit. Dating back to 1936 it still offers visitors a traditional experience with usherettes to guide you to your seat and popcorn and ice cream served during the interval. If visitors are looking to discover further afield then Canterbury, Rochester and Whitstable are all just a short drive away. For those who want to explore even further afield then why not sail away on a ferry or travel on the Channel Tunnel, either way you can be in France or Belgium in time for lunch and back in time for tea! This is a wonderful area and well worth exploring.
