Particularly enjoyed eating breakfast with a view of Skiddaw! Situated in a quiet cul de sac but in close proximity to the centre of Keswick and walks straight from the door. We have already booked to return next year!

  • "We had a lovely stay at Greengarth which is easy to find, has good parking and is very conveniently located."

The house was well-equipped and very warm - we forgot to bring logs for the fire but we didn’t need it. There was a cleaning pack but no teabags etc provided, which we were aware of from previous reviews so didn’t cause an issue. The garden was just right for our dog and will be lovely once all the bulbs are out. We would definitely stay here again.

  • "Lovely spacious property in excellent location."

Good sized off road parking space. Nicely equipped and decorated throughout. Comfortable beds, plenty of fresh, generously sized bath towels. Enclosed garden great for dogs. Beautiful views. Only minor disappointment is that this is first property where we have not been greeted with a small basic welcome pack - a few tea bags/coffee and milk plus a starter pack of kindling and logs would be a nice additional touch.

  • "We’ve just returned home from another wonderful week in Keswick."

Greengarth is a beautiful, well appointed property with modern furnishings, comfortable beds and a great shower. There is a neat enclosed garden to the rear which was perfect for our two small dogs and a lovely patio area to sit out, directly off the kitchen / dining area. It wasn’t cold enough to use the log burning stove this week but can imagine this would be a great feature during the colder months. We loved the location which was quiet and a short walk to Fitz Park and the town centre.

The bi-folding doors and the garden are great for the warm days and our dog loved it. The bin men were on strike whilst we stayed so the bins didn't get emptied. I reported this to Lakelovers so they could hopefully get this sorted before the next guests arrived. I would recommend this property and would look to return in the future.

  • "The property was in an excellent location and the view at the back was to die for!"

The kitchen was well equipped but much of the crockery, cutlery and utensils were grubby. My husband discovered that the top drawer of the dishwasher was too low so the rotating arm was unable to spin. We raised the top drawer and so the dishwasher worked better and cleaned things properly. The lounge was comfortable but poorly lit if you wanted to read in the evenings. The bathrooms were good, the shower was great although it was pretty hard to turn the temperature down and reading through the guest book this has been mentioned before. The beds were comfortable but the bedroom furniture was lacking and not particularly functional. When we arrived, we were unable to get in to our property as there was some garden maintenance being done. There was no notification of this but we were able to get in to the property about 10 -15 minutes later.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay and the views! We will ask the Maintenance Team to look into the dishwasher, and the shower. Thank you- The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "Overall we had a fantastic week at Greengarth, surprisingly quiet location despite being a short walk into town, we walked in view the riverside path, which was lovely, and great to have a couple of no car days."

The garden was great sitting and relaxing, and letting the dogs roam free safely is such a bonus, some reviews said neighbours rude, but we found them very welcomingand friendly and always stopped for a chat wheneverwe saw them. The only points we did have is that it could do with a deep clean, skirting boards and banister were a grubby, and some utensils could doing with being replaced, such as the can opener and scissors, and unfortunately the bins were collected on the day mentioned, so they were left full for the next guests. But these are only minor points, We will definitely be staying again.

  • "We’ve stayed at Greengarth several times now."

Although we love the cottage, we felt it is in need of a little tlc. Small things such as a decent set of utensils e.g. vegetable peeler, tin opener etc are required. There is a good range of kitchen crockery. Some small things like tea towels, kitchen towel, dish sponge etc weren’t provided. No coal or wood to start you off with the wood burner was provided. The outdoor furniture hasn’t been covered during winter and so the cushions have gone moody and are unusable. The patio is mossy and dangerous to walk on, it needs jet spraying to clean it and the garden needs a good tidy. Some paint coming off bedroom wall. Deep clean throughout needed. With a bit of attention Greengarth could be brought back to the lovely place it always has been.

The one complaint is we couldn’t use the washer/dryer. Lake lovers contacted us on the day we arrived to tell us not to use the the washer/dryer as the door was broken. The new part had been ordered on next day delivery and they’d fit it as soon it arrives. We were there six nights and it still hadn’t been repaired by the time we left. Overall pretty poor customer service.

Property nice a spacious for walking coats and boots etc. Property was nice and clean and had good facilitiessuch as dishwasher and washing machine. Would be helpful if there was at least some salt, pepper, vinegar, sugar in the house. Buying these becomes expensive when you only need a small amount. Bathroom is very dark and bath is very high. It wouldn't be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. A shower mat in the bath would be helpful as can be slippy. Otherwise Property was lovely and would definitely recommend to family and friends.

  • "Very nice house, the super king double in the front bedroom was really comfortable, plenty of hot water as well."

Just a couple of things, storage in the bedrooms was limited, they seemed to have bought furniture for one room and spread it over two, there was room in the front bedroom for a chest of drawers/dressing table but just had a wardrobe, the back bedroom had that but no wardrobe, the small bedroom had neither! Log burner but no starter pack (I have stayed in places where this is supplied). They ask you to leave the property clean but there are no cleaning supplies (one nearly empty bottle of some sort of anti bacterial stuff under the kitchen sink). There were some loose dishwater tablets left. I have been self catering in the Lakes and various other places for years, this is the first place I have been that there is literally nothing left there for you! Also the drier on the washer dryer isn’t working properly, you might want to get that looked at, everything was coming out hot and wet!

However left feeling a little disappointed this visit, I feel that soft furnishings could do with an update as have been the same for at least 6 years , also a little alarmed on removing bed linen on departure to find pillow and mattress protectors stained , instructions were not to remove them ,surely these should also be removed and replaced after each visit . No cleaning products to use either , maybe some of these issues could be resolved with better housekeeping especially since COVID

The house and garden are well equipped. The bifold doors into the garden were welcome when the sun shone. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking at home. The property has two toilets which is very handy for a family. There were some negatives. Next door are renovating their property and we had to remind him to stop hammering and drilling at 10 in the evening. He was very friendly and helpful but we had to ask him twice. The fridge was very poor at cooling and we had to have it on the lowest setting. The pillows were hard and heavy and the duvet in the back bedroom was too high a tog rating for me. It would be useful to have two sofas but can understand that it might spoil the layout.

We did have issues with the bins again put out the 1st week not collected, put out the 2nd week and they went this time - but reading the visitors book this seems to be a on going issues. Also we went for 2 weeks and last time we stayed we had someone who changed all the bedding and changed the towels over in the middle of the stay, that did not happen this time but that may be due to Covid regulations?
