10 Customer Reviews

  • "We recently stayed in this caravan for a week and while there were some lovely aspects to the experience, there were also several disappointing issues that affected our stay."

    Positives:
The location of the caravan is lovely — set in a nice spot on the site with beautiful views and peaceful surroundings. The outdoor furniture was a really nice touch, perfect for enjoying the scenery. Inside, the décor was modern and stylish, and we were impressed with the water pressure in the showers, which made for a pleasant change from many other holiday homes we've stayed in. Negatives:
Unfortunately, several issues let the experience down. The hot tub was one of the main attractions when we booked, but the jets were not working and couldn’t be repaired during our stay. Although we were given a partial refund, it was still disappointing. The hot tub was also dirty on arrival, with flies, hair, and general debris in the water. Other maintenance issues included a leaking dishwasher due to an incorrectly placed seal, and the induction hob was difficult to use — especially since some of the pans provided didn’t work with it. There were also no instructions for the appliances, which made things more frustrating. Cleanliness in general left something to be desired. Windows and shower doors hadn’t been cleaned properly, and there was glass left on the decking, which we saw had already been raised by previous guests in the guest book but clearly hadn’t been addressed. The sofa had large stains on it, which had been partially hidden with throws, and the bed was very uncomfortable with scratchy, unpleasant sheets — we ended up using the children’s quilts instead. On top of that, the blinds and curtains either didn’t work or didn’t fully close, making it hard to watch the TV during the day due to glare. Overall, while the caravan has a lot of potential and is well-placed within a lovely setting, there are quite a few maintenance and cleanliness issues that need attention. With some proper care and effort, this could be a much more enjoyable stay.

Hi Sophie Thank you firstly for booking our lodge for your stay. You are right, it is in a beautiful place. The hot tub is a major selling point for our lodge. When we left it on the Friday morning it had been emptied, cleaned and refilled, the jets were working as we test them before we leave, The filter is cleaned and chemicals added. The flies, hair and debris were not present when we left on the hot tub on the Friday of your arrival. On my arrival on Tuesday I found the switch for the jets in the off position. A new pump is needed for the hot tub and unfortunately this had to be ordered in, so a substantial refund was paid to you. Leaking Dishwasher Nobody has mentioned this to us, sadly neither did you until this review so the next guest will have the same problem, thank you for that. Induction Hob All the pans supplied are induction hob compatible And it is a on/off button and selection of which ring to use. Windows/Shower Doors Windows are cleaned inside on changeover day, Friday Along with the shower doors, we use a limescale remover for that job. The outside windows are cleaned by a professional regularly but weren’t due to be done prior to your arrival. Glass on the Deck Sadly the glass topped table smashed in recent high winds. Every Friday we go and use a hard brush and every Friday we find more glass, it’s an ongoing job Sofa Unfortunately earlier guests left the sofa in that condition as we couldn’t leave them wet we put throws over so you could use them I will let Dunelm know that their sheets are unpleasant and scratchy Our Review A broken blind slat hanging down A picture knocked off the wall. A broken coat hanger left lying A table damaged on the edge But mainly If a lodge doesn’t have a BBQ, it usually means they are not allowed on the site, removing decorative stones from the surrounding flower beds to rest a BBQ on is not acceptable Angela & Chris Your Hosts A Property Owner

  • "Amazing lodge!"

Hot tub was fantastic and the views are incredible. Lodge tucked away nicely out of the way. Has everything you'd need. Owners left some bubbly and chocs which was so nice. Thank you! The only suggestion I would give would be to have some plastic flutes or wine glasses for use around the hottub but this isn't essential. Maybe a lighting outdoors as the lights around the decking are very dim. Our stay was absolutely perfect and I couldn't rate this lodge and the owners enough! We would certainly stay here again!

Thank you for your lovely review of our lodge. There are plastic glasses available maybe tucked away in the farthest corner. We stayed a couple of weeks ago and realised the outdoor lighting was not working We are awaiting en electrician to put some lights on the approach steps making it easier to see And we have some lights to go around the deck Angela & Chris Property Owner

  • "No instructions for cooker or other appliances provided."

Patio door very hard to operate, and curtains on patio windows did not close properly. Some blinds we were unable to open and close. The winter King sized duvet on a double bed was very uncomfortable for this time of year. Beautiful view and great hot tub. The site is very well maintained.

Thank you for your review of Skiddaw View. We sadly don't have instructions for the cooker/hob and washing machine as they are very easy to use. The patio door has a key and lever, again easy to use but it is a heavy door. The curtains are decorative because there is no one between the property and the hikers on Skiddaw (12 miles away) The blinds are very stiff as again they are rarely used due to not being overlooked. The winter quilt is used as a lodge can get cold in the night. The Hot Tub is a great asset and the views are spectacular. The site is very new and is maintained to a very good standard. • "We loved the location of the lodge - it is in a very private and quiet part of the site."

The hot tub was lovely and we enjoyed the wine and chocolates. The lodge itself is very comfortable and spacious for the two of us. There were a couple of minor things that would make the stay perfect. We needed a wooden spoon and some serving spoons while cooking. Also, a dustpan and brush and some cleaning products would be great. Instructions would be helpful, especially for where to put rubbish and recycling as there do not seem to be any communal bins on the site. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this lodge to friends and family. Thank you.

Thank you for your review. I have noted what was missing and made sure they are now available. There is now a bin site at Meadows (newly constructed) We don’t put cleaning products in as we don’t want anyone spending their holidays cleaning but we have put some in place now Property Owner

  • "This lodge had the best view of the site, straight across to the mountains in the distance with sheep and rabbits in the opposite field."

The hot tub was ready for our arrival which was a bonus. Communication with the owners was good for things that cropped up. No issues with parking. The lodge had a good level of items. Instructions for departure were clear from the owners.

Thank you for your review. I notice we didn’t receive the highest marks on cleanliness, comfort and facilities. I would be grateful to hear where we can improve our service for future guests Property Owner
