    “Felt very much at home.”

Such a cosy place set in beautiful countryside close to major roads. Would definitely go again. So nice to be so comfortable somewhere else with our dogs.

The property

Glen Cottage is a one bedroom ground floor property part of a larger traditional stone built barn conversion, with stunning views over Great Mell Fell.

Set in a rural location, this spacious holiday home is ideal for an exploration of the Northern Lakes. Built from traditional stone, this lovely cottage is the ideal retreat for a couple who want to get away from it all in the Lakes. At Glen Cottage everything is beautifully presented, the country cottage charm is matched by the contemporary convenience.

Dine in the sun room with its superb countryside vistas and breakfast in the fully equipped kitchen.

The entrance has a large porch, perfect for all your outdoor gear.

The comfortable living room has a TV, character beams and a wood burning stove plus spellbinding views over the fells and the local countryside.

From the large hall, descend two steps to the king-sized double bedroom with its views across Great Mell Fell.

There's also a contemporary shower room with walk in cubicle, vanity unit, WC and heated towel rail.

Outside there's a walled garden and a fully enclosed field where your dogs can roam free.

Enjoy the outstanding countryside views and the local farm animals and wildlife from your private garden complete with garden furniture - the ideal place to relax after a full day's hiking, biking and sightseeing in the Lakes.

There's also off road parking for 1 car. Glen Cottage is set in an idyllic location that ensures peace and quiet, yet is easily accessible from the M6.

There are plenty of friendly local pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance, and of course, the hike to Great Mell Fell or a trip to Ullswater are unmissable.

Penrith and Keswick with their lively shops, bars and restaurants are about a 15-minute drive in either direction from the cottage. Glen Cottage is the perfect base for an exploration of the North Lakes.

Ullswater and Aira Force, the landscape that inspired Wordsworth's famous 'Daffodils' poem, is a short hike down the road from the cottage.

Blencathra, Derwent Water and Hellvelyn are all within easy reach, while a drive over the spectacular Kirkstone Pass takes you to Ambleside and Windermere. For a romantic getaway in some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK, Glen Cottage is the perfect hideaway at any time of year.
