"Lovely property, and idilic location."
We did have an infant with us, and requested a cot, which we could not find. Upon calling the phone number provided we did not receive an answer or response. That was the only negative.

"The accommodation was lovely, there were some small points for consideration."
The (black) waste bin for general waste outside the property was already full to overflowing when we arrived. There was nowhere to put the rubbish. There were were only three dishwasher tablets. There were no replacement bin sacks. It was not made clear that the premises was being developed and that outside were piles of building materials, which were a danger to the three small children with us. There was no cot, and despite contacting sykes repeatedly we were unable to get any answer from them.

"Beautiful property in the most beautiful surroundings."
Tiny hiccup with the keys on arrival but was sorted within minutes. Excellent response from the owners.
The cows visiting everyday were a lovely surprise. If you are looking for a relaxing stay or a busy stay with walks, visits to other areas etc, this is a perfect place to be as it caters for all.
Lovely little pub a very short walk away, we had visits into Cartmel, Grange-Over-Sands and Kendal during our stay (went in the car)
We will definitely be back. Old Watermill is an absolute gem.

"The place is beautiful and well maintained."
Unfortunately the main living room has no blinds to the large window and in the afternoon and evening if it's sunny it's really needs some sort of blind. We found the internet to be quite poor but I suppose that's the situation. Other than that I would say it was perfect. We enjoyed our stay very much.

"We enjoyed our week at The Old Watermill immensely."
It's been beautifully updated and decorated, while retaining some of the old elements like the wooden beams. The quality of the furniture and fittings was very high. To see the story of the renovation unfold in their photo album was very interesting. The owner Jo provided a lot of useful items in the kitchen including herbs, spices and olive oil which was much appreciated. The location is lovely and quiet at night which makes sleeping so much easier. It was very useful to have the village and the nice local pub just a hundred yards away. We thoroughly recommend this holiday cottage.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. So glad you enjoyed your stay

"This was our first time in the Lake District and this cottage was a real find."
It's gorgeous and very recently renovated. The owners have done a fabulous job. It offers everything you need for a relaxing stay. (There is even a hairdryer and straighteners). They also have a Nespresso coffee machine and milk frother so take your pod!!s. We had the log burner going every night although we could have done with a long handled fire lighter but a small price to pay for home comforts. Make sure you take the essential provisions like milk, butter, bread, tea/coffee (prosecco...) to start you off. We drove the Hardnott pass in a 4x4 truck and then through all the tiny villages. What an experience. Would recommend doing this before the spring/summer tourist season. We had the road to ourselves which meant we were able to stop and take in the views and take photos. We walked for miles along the shoreline near Holy Well Spring. A walk you can do from the cottage. Dinner at the Pheasant was wonderful, (literally just up the top of the hill). Great food and great hosts. Lovely coffee shops in the Lake District serving scrumptious cakes. Everyone is really friendly. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
Hi thank you for you’re lovely feedback. We’re glad you loved the lakes and The old Watermill. We hope to welcome you again soon. Jo & Mark

"We had a fabulous week at the Old Watermill, enhanced by sunny weather all week."
The property is lovely with every room having been tastefully done to a high standard, with good quality equipment, furniture and decorations. It was also spotlessly clean when we arrived. The rooms were very comfortable & it was the best nights sleep I can remember on any holiday. Outside there is a patio with table which gets the afternoon & evening sun, and a large lawned area with ample parking. It’s not enclosed so we had to put our dog’s lead on while we were out.
The cottage is ideally located for visiting many of the Lake District’s most popular spots, but is in a lovely peaceful location to enable maximum relaxation. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property and would definitely go back if I was visiting the area in the future.

"A perfect little getaway!"
The property was stunning and did not disappoint. The owners have completed this property to a high standard, combining the old with the new with ease. The bedrooms were comfy and well equipped but as a suggestion curtains would have enabled us to sleep past 5am and sunrise.
Great communication with the owner to ensure our stay was perfect.
The location was perfect for visiting nearby towns and beauty spots.
Although the property is in a secluded spot it would benefit from blinds in the main lounge for a bit more privacy.
We loved this property and would return in a heartbeat and would highly recommend.
Hi thank you so much for your lovely feedback. Points made have been taken on board - the lounge is a difficult one as some love the openness but agree blinds/curtain would give more privacy. Hope to see you again soon. Jo & Mark

"The Old Water Mill is a beautiful old building that has had life breathed back into it with lots of love and care."
The owners have filled it with high end quality items, which makes it feel like home. The views from the property are amazing from every window, especially the giant picture window in the lounge, where you can see the field of cows as neighbours. The cottage has everything you need from a fully equipped kitchen to board games a plenty to help entertain you on those rainy days. Furthermore, it is ideally located to Grange over Sands for all your grocery needs for your stay and Cartmel for an evening of racing or just eating sticky toffee pudding, which is a must. We will definitely be recommending to family and friends and hopefully returning ourselves very soon.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. It’s much appreciated and so glad you love the old watermill as much as we do.

"Very good value for the rental price."
In reality the cottage is better than the photos in the listing. Lovely convenient location, well equipped and well furnished. The open plan ground floor in particular is a great living area. It is spacious and has big windows that make it light and airy, but very comfortable. We have stayed in a lot of cottages over the years and "The Old Watermill" is one of the best. We would highly recommend it.
Thank you so much that’s lovely feedback. Hope to see you again soon..
