  • "This is a beautifully well-appointed and furnished apartment in the heart of Ambleside."

    Everything you could need for a comfortable break is present and, being located in the heart of town, all the amenities and entertainment are just a short stroll away. Being able to park at the property is a huge boon given the strain on parking in the town these days. I'd highly recommend this place to anybody wanting central, comfortable accommodation.

  • "The sofa is over due for replacement; its uncomfortable and threadbare in places, however the bed is very comfortable."

    The kitchen is very well equipped and easy to use (loved the slow cooker). Our kettle was broken but to arrange a replacement was a long and complicated process of "automated procedures". We went straight to the office in Fisherbeck Road were a very helpful lady sorted our problem out quickly and efficiently. COMMUNICATION WITH SYKES IS VERY FRUSTRATING. To the point where it makes us reluctant to use Sykes again. Its worth noting that the flat is north facing and thus quite dark (as is the patio) and surrounded by heavy planting. The flat is very conveniently positioned, decorated to a modern standard, warm and practical.

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside with its numerous shops makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips, and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and the lakeside at Waterhead with parkland offering lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach. A walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre. Ambleside has plenty of restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes from great fish & chips to its two Michelin Star restaurants and all tastes in between are catered for.
