  • "Generally found parts of the property tired and in comparison to other properties we have stayed in for a similar price not value for money."

Parking is hit or miss. Ended up on one occasion having to park illegally, but only thanks to a very understanding parking warden didn't get a ticket. Large bathroom but not thought out. Really need to consider ventilation, where towels are placed. Generally the property wasn't clean- as an example the bin was dirty and some of the pots/ utensils. Kitchen again not well thought out cupboards full of cups etc, very little space for own food, parts missing from cooker hood. No ‘extras’ eg soap to wash hands, washing up liquid, very little toilet roll, no clothes washing pods. Welcome pack suspect the tea was leave over from previous people who stayed. Welcome pack very limited, no information on things to do, places to go. In short it’s not well loved.

Dear Luke Thankyou for booking our property and taking the time to write a review for us. We have notified LakeLovers to remind their cleaning team to double check kitchen equipment is clean and to remind them to leave basic cleaning products to get guests started on arrival. We do not leave tea or coffee so perhaps a previous guest thought that was a nice gesture. It is a 6 person property so we are contractually obliged to provide 6 of everything - this may give the impression of a lot of crockery! There are also cupboards on the side wall under the noticeboard which you may have missed. There is no guarantee of nearby parking in such a popular town, even with our permit, so we do not promise it on the website. A previous guest has kindly left a handy guide in her review with some useful parking tips. There are plenty of day out ideas on the website and walking maps are provided in the cottage. Kind regards The Owners Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely week at Cloud Cottage."

Parking on the road outside is limited, but there is a long stay public car park near by which is free after 8pm & offer discounted rates if you buy early bird tickets for the following 24 hours (Lake Road Car Park). The cottage itself had all the things we needed for a family of 5, even a few games & DVDs to choose from. There isn't much cupboard space in the kitchen to store your own food items etc, but with a bit a shuffling about we managed to fit our things in. The cottage is well located with easy access to Ambleside & a good base from which to discover the rest of The Lakes. It's also perfectly located for a 5 min walk to Rothay Park parkrun! We would recommend staying here & would rebook if returning to Ambleside.

Dear Mrs Mottram Thankyou for booking our cottage and taking the time to leave such a nice review. Kind Regards The Owners Property Owner

  • "We can only agree with previous reviews - lovely cottage, clean, spacious, comfortable, warm, well equipped and everything we needed for a great stay in Ambleside."

It is tucked away in a quiet street but very central for shops, cafes etc and 5 minute walk to choice of many buses all over the lake district.

Dear Mrs Dawson A belated thanks for booking our cottage and leaving such a nice review. Sorry to have overlooked this due to personal health issues at the time. Thanks & Regards The Owner Property Owner

  • "The cottage is really spacious and perfect for a family of 4 (it could fit more people in!"

). Really central to Ambleside but really quiet from any noise. Parking is a bit challenging but we were lucky to find a space straight away on our first day. A lovely stay!

Being new to the market, it’s competitively priced, making this the ideal time to make your first booking.

This family-friendly property offers a warm welcome with its inviting woodburning stove and convenient parking, making it an ideal base for families or groups of friends seeking a memorable escape.

Step inside to discover a cosy sitting room with two neatly arranged sofas inviting you to unwind, a digital tv with an inbuilt DVD player (with a selection of DVDs) and a woodburning stove for cold winter nights.

Adjacent to the sitting room is an open-plan kitchen and dining area, fully equipped for preparing delicious home-cooked meals, and a second, spacious and light-filled sitting area with a Smart TV and Bluetooth speaker, so whether you're the designated chef or simply keeping him or her company, the armchairs and sofa offer a comfortable spot to chill before gathering around the dining table to share a meal and stories from the day.

The cottage spans three floors and features three thoughtfully presented bedrooms.

On the first floor, a king-size bedroom offers a peaceful retreat and a large and recently refurbished bathroom including a bath, walk-in shower, basin, and WC.

The second floor comprises a double and a twin room, each providing a restful space and with spectacular views of the surrounding fells.

Families will love Brockhole on Windermere for its range of activities, while Orrest Head Viewpoint offers one of the most breathtaking panoramas in the region.

For a nostalgic day out, hop aboard the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, and explore the vintage vehicles at the Lakeland Motor Museum.

Don’t miss the Lakes Aquarium, home to the UK’s largest collection of freshwater fish.

With so much to see and do, much of it within walking distance or accessible by bus as well as car, Cloud Cottage is the perfect place to relax, recharge, and create lasting memories in the heart of the Lake District.

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside with its numerous shops makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips, and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and the lakeside at Waterhead with parkland offering lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach. A walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre. Ambleside has plenty of restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes from great fish & chips to its two Michelin Star restaurants and all tastes in between are catered for.
