  • "Lovely, newly renovated property."

The beds were comfy and living space nice too. The house is brilliantly positioned for all Ambleside amenities and right by the children's play park. The kitchen had everything we needed and more with air fryer, proper coffee machine and full size washer and dryer. However, for accommodation 6 people, we did struggle to find somewhere to eat together. There's a fold out table, but we couldn't really find a suitable place to open it and sit around. The kids sat at the breakfast bar and as we had good weather some adults sat outdoors to eat. We stayed for 3 nights and ate out in town 2 evenings, so it wasn't a huge issue, but if you wanted to have more meals inside, it's definitely a squeeze. Another thing with the kitchen was that there is absolutely nowhere to put any food apart from the fridge- so all the snacks, bread etc sat out on the counters in the way the whole time. There aren't any cabinets above the kitchen counters so that could be an easy fix. Overall, we had a brilliant time and the accommodation was great for what we needed.

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside with its numerous shops makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips, and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and the lakeside at Waterhead with parkland offering lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach. A walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre. Ambleside has plenty of restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes from great fish & chips to its two Michelin Star restaurants and all tastes in between are catered for.
