"The cottage was well equipped with everything needed in the kitchen."
It’s a shame the WiFi doesn’t work upstairs and there is no shaver socket anywhere. It’s very peaceful and the surroundings are beautiful. Not sure the walk to the pub would take half an hour, it’s probably longer.

"Very last minute booking for our wedding anniversary, Sykes were great helping us book as it was so last minute, this was our 2nd choice but it did not disappoint and we were really happy with how it worked out."
Stunning location with lovely walks in the grounds right from your door. The cottage was very clean and well equipped including washing up liquid cloth, scrubber and tea towels even tinfoil and ice packs which is great so you don’t need to pack all those fiddly bits and can just get on with your holiday. There was hand wash and plenty of loo roll in all bathrooms which were lovely and the showers were very powerful I’m short so preferred the back bathroom shower as the jets were lower and I didn’t get sprayed in the face, I gave the oval bath a try too as it looks stunning and was nice once you get led down in it, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone without good balance though.
The cottage was very cosy and very quiet , we didn’t really notice the other guests in the other cottages. The cottage was nice and cool in the heat of the day, though did go a little chilly in the evening but we just put a hoodie on and it was fine , I should imagine it’s very warm and cosy in the winter with the heating on.
The bed was comfy though a little bit springy for our taste, we prefer a little firmer so you don’t get disturbed when the other person moves but it wouldn’t put us of staying again as it was comfy enough we still slept well. I do think it’s a shame they weren’t king size beds or twins that can be either or, and a bedside lamp on each side would be good too.
Pub down the rd (the fleece I think) was a 26 min walk and well worth it the food was excellent and it recently won an award so it can get busy. It also has a little shop with all the little holiday basics and some gifts too, we grabbed some lovely local butter and bacon for breakfast.
If you wanted you could just park up and not use your car again as there’s walks from your door and with the pub and it’s mini shop down the rd you have everything you need, we went into Lancaster and walked rd Williamson park where we got married years ago and went to the crook of Lune for a walk and a Woodie’s sausage barm which was still amazing.
We had a lovely weekend and would definitely come back

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
The cottage was spotless and well equipped. The grounds were beautiful with lovely walks and the private garden was great for our dog.
It’s a lovely, peaceful area but only a short drive to Morcambe.
We ate out at the Fleece which was fantastic, but make sure to book as it’s VERY popular.
All in all a great relaxing break.

"Lovely cottage, part of an old coach house."
very clean with a superb kitchen. Nice enclosed patio area and grassed area fully secure for our small dog. the bathroom was lovely and the upstairs shower very good.
The grounds in which the cottage was, were stunning the photos in the booking don't do it full justice. Not to far from Galgate and Lancaster, also the coast and the Lakes. Motorway not far off so easy to get to many places. Really enjoyed our stay.

"We loved our stay in Elsa over the Christmas period."
Beautiful surroundings, quiet, peaceful, warm and comfortable. Everything about the property was perfect (although the oven took practice). My mother was recovering from a full hip replacement so the downstairs wc and en suite shower was ideal and the grounds of the hall were perfect for her to mobilise for exercise. Apart from toiletries, we didn't need to pack anything else. There is an ice compartment in the fridge and a wine chiller. We were sorry to leave and would like to stay again. Thank you xx

"Lovely property with everything we needed for a short break."
A warm property with effective heating we could control. Good secure garden for pets or children. Walking in the grounds of the main house each day was peaceful and relaxing and good connections by car to local shops and towns.
Only negative was the kitchen door lock which was beyond sticky!

"This was our third visit to Wyreside cottages but this time we were in Elsa rather than Balloo, as that was not available for the dates we wanted."
The cottage was very comfortable and clean and has a freezer department in the fridge, Balloo does not, but no washing machine, there are laundry facilities available in the main house but we did not need them this time. While we were there, there was a serious water leak in the area which meant we had a tiny trickle water for nearly 24 hours but the owner kept us constantly informed as to what was happening with messages forwarded from the water authority and they provided a tanker for the residents of the cottages and did everything they could to help.
The only downside I think I should mention is the modern design bath downstairs, it's like sitting in a large pudding basin and is almost impossible to get out of safely if you are over 70, my husband had to help me and we laughed about it for ages afterwards but if you like a good soak to relax it's not ideal, so the two showers available upstairs are recommended.
Without babbling on any more we absolutely love Wyreside cottages and can recommend them to all, the area is stunning and peaceful and the owners do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable without being intrusive.

"On arrival we instantly felt at home , the grounds were beautiful & much better than the description given , the drive up the track to the cottage was amazing with views to die for !"
I was amazed at how clean the cottage was , as if if it was just built , the cleaning staff did a wonderful job ! The fixtures & fittings were also of a much better standard than described & we could not find fault with anything , having 200 acres of grounds to wander made it extra special ! Only a short drive from a good selection of shops & supermarkets & places of interest ! We didn't venture far over our 3 day stay as we didn't need to as we're nature lovers , from the hares running across the lawns to the roe deer grazing . This is a real credit to the owners & is a real hidden Gem , we can't recommend it highly enough ! Don't just take our word for it " GO & STAY " !

"This is a wonderfully peaceful place to stay amid fields on the banks of the river Wyre."
A rural idyll in fact. The cottage is spacious, clean and very well eqipped. The fittings are of a very high standard and my wife was loath to leave the kitchen! Strongly recommended.
Ps wifi and phone signal good
