"Great location with walks from the door and 10mins drive to the beautiful village of Cartmel with it’s fantastic eateries."
Nicely renovated with great sized bedrooms with comfy beds and en-suites. Only slight negative was the house was a little cold for us but the underfloor heating temperature was locked so couldn’t increase and we couldn’t get the electric fire working either. Overall good stay and would recommend. Would also be good for several families/friends holidaying together as there are 3 properties together.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We're delighted to hear you enjoyed the location, the nearby walks, and the comfort of the bedrooms. Cartmel really is a special place, and we’re glad you got to explore it!
We appreciate your comments about the heating and the electric fire. We’ll double check the electric fire to make sure it’s straightforward for future guests.
For the heating, we now provide both a contact number and WhatsApp so guests can have it adjusted remotely, as everyone has different comfort levels. We’re always happy to help make your stay as comfortable as possible.
It’s great to know you’d recommend the property and found it ideal for groups and families. We’d love to welcome you back for another stay soon.

"Lovely cottage in a great location, perfect for exploring south Cumbria and Lakes."
Really good value and well appointed.
Pot holes in lane need filling in and ability to switch off or turn down heating would be of benefit.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. I’m really pleased you enjoyed the cottage, its location, and found it good value and well equipped. It’s great to hear it worked well as a base for exploring South Cumbria and the Lakes.
I appreciate you highlighting the potholes in the lane and the heating controls. I’m already looking into both so future stays are even more comfortable. Your comments genuinely help us improve. You’d be very welcome back anytime.

"Second year staying here as a family."
. We absolutely love it.. The icing on the cake would be if it had a washing machine!!
We’re delighted to have you back for a second year and so happy you love it here. A washing machine would certainly be handy. While it’s not something we’re planning to add right now, we truly appreciate the feedback.

"A brilliant cottage in a great location!"
I booked the cottage as a suprise three night stay for my mum for her birthday and she loved it. Lovely comfy beds and linen and fluffy towels. The house was cosy and warm. We had everything we needed, great parking, the post code in the satnav takes you straight to the door. I would definitely recommend and will probably return.
My only suggestion would be starting a guest book, we like to look at other guests reviews on good local pubs and places worth visiting, saves you time and uncovers hidden gems!
Finally, the lamp shade in the large bedroom was broken on our arrival, I would have liked to just drop you a note in the book, rather than in this review. Thank you for a lovely restful stay, see you again.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. I’m delighted to hear that your mum enjoyed her birthday stay and that you both found the cottage cosy, comfortable, and well equipped. It’s great to know the beds, linen, towels, and parking all helped make your visit relaxing.
I really appreciate your suggestion about a guest book. At the moment I provide leaflets and information on local pubs, walks, and places to visit, but I’ll certainly keep your idea in mind as I’m always looking for ways to make the cottage even more helpful for guests.
Thank you as well for letting me know about the lampshade in the large bedroom. I’m sorry it wasn’t perfect on arrival, and I’ll make sure it’s replaced right away.
It was a pleasure to host you, and I’m so glad you had a restful stay. I’d love to welcome you back again.

"The cottage was spotlessly clean and very inviting."
In a perfect spot for visiting loads of interesting places in the South Lakes. Very quiet but within easy reach of Flookburgh and Cartmel for provisions and eating establishments. Would love to stay again.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I’m really pleased to hear the cottage felt spotlessly clean and inviting for your stay. The location is certainly a great base for exploring the South Lakes, so it’s wonderful to know you found it convenient yet peaceful.
I’m glad you enjoyed having Flookburgh and Cartmel close by for food and supplies — they’re such charming spots. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back whenever you’re next in the area.

"We arrived at the property after driving through very stormy weather at 3 pm."
Sticking to the rules of 4 pm entry we went for a walk and got back to the property at 4 pm we went into the property only to find that it had not been cleaned, dirty bedding still on the beds and dirty towels left in both shower rooms. Attempted to make contact to report this on the number provided on the booking confirmation only to receive a voicemail so message left stating the problem. No call back was forthcoming. Rang again and left a further message but still no call back. Also contacted Sykes/Lakelovers via WhatsApp they were just useless no return contact until we got back from our stay 2 days later on Friday and then it was only an automated message saying they were very busy and did we still need assistance (absolute joke)! Finally got hold of the owner of the property who was upset about the fact the property had not been cleaned and arranged for two lovely ladies to attend at 6 pm to clean the property. My daughter and I went out while this was being done and when we got back were pleased to see the place clean and tidy. The remainder of our stay in the property was uneventful just a shame that it had started so badly. The property was comfortable and well equipped for our needs. It is in the middle of farmland and the views were amazing. The owner of the property did compensate us with a gift which was gratefully received.

"Took my parents for a short stay so it was pleasing to find both king size bedrooms with their own ensuites were the same size."
The property was very clean, modern and spacious and we had a comfortable stay. One small point is that one of the sofas could have done with a small coffee table to rest a drink on.
The location was peaceful and quiet with a lovely view out and also very close to Cartmel and Grange.
We were happy we had booked this property and would recommend

"We really enjoyed our stay."
Plenty of dog walks from the door. Also easy walks into Cartmel, Holker Gardens and lots of public footpaths. If approaching the property from Cartmel, there is a single track road but the road was not busy so we had no issues

"Edgemere Hideaway is a beautiful property."
We had a little difficulty finding it for the first time as it is up a narrow lane edged by pillars but that is because it is in a lovely quiet location. Cartmel and Grange are very close by, easy to get to and it is a good base to go sightseeing.
We walked through the door of the property and were extremely pleased as the kitchen/diner/lounge is spacious, modern and clean and well furnished. The two bedrooms are large with king size beds, with good clothes hanging racks and more than enough storage. The shower rooms were generous and very well appointed. We had good weather during our stay, so it was lovely to have a picnic table to enjoy the outdoors. As we were two couples, we felt it was the most perfect place we could have chosen to stay. We would definitely stay at Edgemere Hideaway again and would thoroughly recommend it to everyone.
The one issue we had was that we sent several messages to the owner via the Sykes App over the weekend and on the Bank Holiday but we had no reply. We had to wait until office hours to telephone to get our answers.

"Firstly, this is a lovely accommodation in a great location/setting."
The place was spotlessly clean, warm, well designed and a great price. Comfy beds, great showers, nice view, parking excellent and there is plenty of storage - including a handy coat & shoe rack!
But I feel I really do have to comment on the issues that irritated us - particularly as they are so easily remedied. Then this place would be fantastic.
Both bedrooms had to share one tv remote as the batteries were dead - easily remedied with someone checking before check in.
The welcome pack - No welcome just a list of what to do before we go - inc jobs that made me feel like I was back at home… (stripping beds & taking out the bins). Perhaps this is a Sykes Cottages thing and not an expectation of the owner & I would have felt happier to do a cleaner’s job if the “welcome” pack actually said welcome! It was unwelcoming and cold in its tone, not to mention tatty and containing no useful info.
For those who have booked, it may be useful to know that the kitchen is missing the following:
cheese grater, steak knives (I had to buy some), pasta bowls, washing up liquid (used hand soap to wash up when not using the dish washer), foil, placemats or saucepans (but there are 3 frying pans?). As a family that chose to cook breakfast & dinner every day of our stay, the missing items were a huge inconvenience. We had to use the plastic chopping boards as placements to protect the glass table. There was a broken glass in the cupboard & a broken masher in the drawer - so no kitchen checks had been done. My top lip discovered the broken glass rim within 5 minutes or arriving. Not the best start. I hope I’m not blamed for these breakages as clearly checks hadn’t been carried out.
The cottage next door had to borrow our cutlery as they had none! As it was our last night and their first, we happily gave them what we had. Ridiculous that 2 houses were sharing 6 knives & forks though.
While there is a coffee table in front of the comfy sofa, there is no table near the hard uncomfortable sofa so drinks had to go on the floor. Just provide a £20 table and this issue goes away. Also no cushions on the hard sofa made it a miserable experience trying to spend any time sat on it.
Providing just 2 bin bags for 3 days is just mean - come on, they cost 5p each! We had to let one of the bins get to the point of splitting as we had nothing else to use. As I say, great property but whoever had the task of equipping it from Ikea, missed a lot out.
Thank you for your review, we are really pleased to hear you found our property clean, warm and good value for money. Of course we are sorry there were things didn't meet your expectations, and we are particularly concerned about the broken glass. It's a shame this wasn't brought to our attention at the time, we would have done everything we could to help you. We will be doing an inventory so we can replace any missing items, and we take on board your comments about the welcome pack.
