Acorns

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Acorns.

It's just so relaxing, in the countryside but not isolated. Lovely and quiet. A home from home in many aspects. Accommodation is very spacious with a lovely sitting room, dining room or if you prefer to eat in the kitchen. There's a combi oven and a built in oven and a microwave. Plenty of crockery and cutlery. Fridge, dish washer and a washing machine and freezer in the utility. Within easy reach of Hadrian's wall.

Acorns is a beautiful cottage cleaned to a very high standard.

If you like preparing meals the kitchen has everything you need. A wonderful place to stay.

We were more than happy with our stay at Acorns.

The appartment was very well-furnished, practical and very clean. The hosts were friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would not hesitate to come back. Thank you so much!

We thought could Acorns really be as good as the reviews said.

As soon as we walked in it was warm and welcoming. Everything was spotless. Loved looking out over the fields from the lounge, which was very comfortable and cozy. We had a perfect stay and Rosie and Len are great hosts. We have booked to go back again so that says it all. A perfect place to stay, with everything you need. Thank you very much Rosie and Len.

The area around Acorns is so peaceful. The cottage is spacious, has everything you need to enable you to have a stress free holiday. We couldn't fault anything. It was a pleasure getting meals ready in the kitchen . The owners are friendly and helpful. We have been hooked and will be returning like many others before. The visitor book speaks for itself. A lovely, well-equipped cottage in a very quiet location with good views.

Very welcoming and helpful owners who provided a super welcome pack which included wine, biscuits and a bottle of milk! Some teabags and coffee were also provided - thus we were able to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea as soon as we arrived after our long car journey! The accommodation was very well situated for sight-seeing, shopping and walking and we were able to drive to several pubs that offered excellent food and service if we didn't want to eat at home.

Excellent weeks stay at cottage len and Rosie very nice and helpful would recommend staying here peace and quiet and lovely views.

This is a great property in a lovely countryside setting.

The owners are very friendly and helpful, and live next to the property. This was our fourth visit! The property has every necessary facility for easy living and there is lots to do in the surrounding area and shops close by in Brampton, the nearby town.

The bungalow was so clean, comfortable and well equipped.

Loved waking up to the sound of sheep and lambs. Loved every second of our stay. Len and Rosie are lovely people who made us feel very welcome. Would definitely return for another stay.

The week quoted was the final week of our 6 weeks at Acorns.

We have loved every minute of our stay at Acorns. We have been visiting Acorns for 5 out of the last 6 years. The accommodation, location, scenery are perfect. But the icing on the cake are the hosts Rosie and Len, they make you feel so welcome.

Third visit to this lovely place.

The bungalow has everything needed for a comfortable stay. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and there are many places of historical interest a short distance away. There are villages and towns only a few minutes drive away with cafes/restaurants and shops to top up on supplies. The owners provide a useful welcome pack and are very friendly and helpful.

We had a wonderful holiday at Acorns.

The owners made us very welcome as soon as we arrived. The property was very light and comfortable with lovely furniture and an excellent bed and bedding. I slept better there than at home. The huge freezer and efficient oven made meal times easy. Rather than being rather isolated in a cottage, our bungalow was right next to the farmyard so we were able to observe what was going on from day to day. Watching the sheepdog controlling the sheep and lambs as they came for a feed was a real education. We definitely plan to go back .

We spent a fantastic 3 weeks at Acorns.

A wonderful location, exceptionally clean and spacious accommodation with everything we needed on hand. Quite accessible for our mum who after hip surgery, needs a roller walker. Beautiful scenery in a very peaceful location and watching all the lambs arriving daily on the farm and running about in the fields and seeing the sheepdogs in action was lovely. Rosie you work so hard, we don’t know how you manage so much! Hope Len continues his recovery. We recommend Acorns to any visitor looking for a place to stay in the area as it is also close to many of the attractions and towns for necessities.

As good as the other reviews say, easily one of the best places we have stayed in over 25 years.

This was our third visit to Acorns, Len & Rosie are excellent hosts and provide a warm welcoming cottage.

Len runs a very busy sheep farm and it's good to watch his sheep dogs at work. The only thing that would stop us returning next year would be our health, all being well we willl return again.

Lovely cottage on a working farm, quiet and peaceful with a warm welcome.

Provided a great base for a coast to coast bike ride following Hadrian's Wall.

After our 4th year visiting, it's still very comfortable, nice and clean, perfect for a week away from reality.

Set on a work sheep farm. Property was spotless and the location very quiet, also very dark at night, idea if you want to go star gazing. Brampton is a short drive away and the Roman Wall (Birdoswald) closer still.

acorns is so clean there is never any cause for concern about cleanliness. The presentation is a huge credit to Rosie and her team. With the odd exception it’s almost like home from home and we hope to return later in 2023

Great location- welcome pack on arrival.

Despite the cold weather the property was warm. Ideal for visiting Hadrians Wall and the surrounding area. This is our fourth stay in a Sykes sourced holiday home and Acorns is highly recommended.

We had a wonderful relaxing break.

We took many things with us like washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, tea towels and much more. No need the cottage had every conceivable need. Most importantly was the cleanliness of the cottage it was spotless.then finally there is Len and Rosie the owners, we were treated like family. Len and Rosie deserve an award for best property owners

This is our second visit to "Acorns" Len & Rosie are first class hosts, the cottage was clean, warm and homely.

Not forgetting the welcoming gift of eggs, milk, & a bottle of wine. It was a busy time on the farm for Len & Rosie with lots of new lambs. We will return return next year.

Home from home , very quiet and relaxing setting .

We first visited the property in 2019.

Then again in 2020. Did not have a holiday in 2021, but returned in March 2022. We get everything we want from the property and Rosa and Len are great hosts. The surrounding countryside is fantastic. We love being there, roll on June, when we we're back again.

Cottage was lovely and comfortable, a proper home away from home.

Unable to fault cottage at all. Only drawback was that no mention was made in the listing of the railway line being fairly close by. The trains were regular, starting at approx 6.30am and some sounded the horn as it went passed.

Amazing place, great views!

The host Rosie and Len along with the accommodation and location were amazing.

A small touch and really appreciated was the gift pack provided of milk, eggs plus a bottle of wine. A lovely unexpected touch. We would certainly recommend this to any prospective visitors to the area and will very definitely return in due course. Our heartfelt thanks to Rosie and Len. The property was perfect.

It was very clean and comfortable. It was in a lovely position with excellent views. We hope to be able to return in the future.

What a find, super cottage Len & Rosie were superb hosts very friendly.

Excellent views from the cottage on all sides. We enjoyed watching the sheep be moved from one field to another by Len's well trained sheep dogs. We will return next year.

The bungalow was well equipped, the views were amazing.

Our children loved walking the fields and seeing all the sheep. The owner's Farmer Len (as our little girl called him) & his wife were very friendly and we can't wait to go back. There were lots of interesting places to visit for both adults & children.

THIS COTTAGE IS ABSOLUTELY LOVELY, SPOTLESSLY CLEAN,HAD EVERYTHING YOU COULD POSSIBLY REQUIRE, IN A PERFECT SETTING AND CLOSE TO MANY SIGHTSEEING PLACES, WOULD THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

THE PROPRIETORS LEN AND ROSIE EXTREMELY NICE AND NOTHING IS TOO MUCH TROUBLE (DESPITE COVID) OH AND ROY (THE DOG) WAS A DELIGHT. WE HAD AN AMAZING WEEK AFTER SUCH A STRESSFUL YEAR AND WILL DEFINITELY RETURN ONE DAY HOPE POST COVID.

We highly recommend this bungalow.

Very clean comfortable and spacious. It’s attached to the farm house but still felt like our own space. The couple were lovely were available for questions but were not intrusive. Was a beautiful location with lots to see and do but also quiet and tranquil if required

The cottage was larger than we expected and was clean and comfortable.

Our hosts, Rosie and Len were very helpful , friendly and we felt that were welcome visitors. If you want a peaceful place to stay, this is it. Hadrian's wall is within walking distance and has information boards recalling the history of the Roman presence on the frontier between Scotland and Britain. The Lake district and the Keilder forest are within easy driving district and you can enjoy "dark skies" and a myriad stars when you visit the forest. We would definitely recommend this holiday cottage.

The owners Len and Rosie were really friendly and helpful and there was a bottle of red wine, milk and eggs on our arrival, a very nice touch.

The bungalow had lovely country views to one side, including the main living areas. The sheep farm is adjacent but the activity is not intrusive, indeed the morning feed delivery to the fields was very entertaining! There was a very good layout to the property, with room sizes larger than we were expecting. In addition to having everything we needed in the bungalow, it is not far from other amenities and many varied places of interest, a good place to relax in or explore from. Wifi was installed in the farm during our stay, and the signal could be used in some parts of the bungalow (the owners are planning to improve this with a repeater). So we were very satisfied and would recommend "Acorns".

The cottage is situated on a quiet sheep farm.

Ideal for what we wanted. We used the cottage as a Base for walking hadrians wall path. There is a pretty path from the road side to tge national trail. It was lovely and spacious. Very clean. The owners are friendly, bringing some fresh eggs too. There was no Internet access, but I understand that is being dealt with shortly. We found the lack of online access a great incentive to do other stuff.

We enjoyed a lot there and everything was perfect as you need in your own house and hospitality was brilliant and we loved it.

A lovely bungalow situated on a working farm.

Our boys loved watching the farmer at work and the sheep out of the house windows. Hospitality was second to none with welcoming milk, eggs and wine on arrival. The bungalow was very comfortable and spacious for a family of four and extremely well kept. Situated very close to Hadrian’s Wall, we had a great time exploring and being in the countryside. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

On arrival it was pleasing to have fresh eggs a bottle of milk in the fridge a bottle of wine and even toilet paper for our convenience.

I never expected that! The cottage was beautiful. Vety spacious and cosey. Our hosts who lived next door were chatty and kind. Loved every minute!!!
