  • "The property was perfect."

Welcoming basket for us and the dog was much appreciated. Checked we were settled, which was such a lovely touch. Looking to go back next year as position and accommodation was perfect on all counts. Thank you

  • "Beautiful cottage in a beautiful spot!"

My partner and I stayed here with our dog for the week. It was very well stocked with whatever we could need and the owners were incredibly helpful and very friendly. The little thoughtful touches made this stay one of our favourites, so many lovely ways to make sure we were comfortable. The views are quite spectacular over a field of sheep and a fairly close sea, and the garden was great fun with our puppy who was able to run freely! My only note for other guests would be that the beds are quite soft (my preference is for medium firm) and we found ourselves almost falling off a few times a night.

Thank you Ryan for your review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again at the cottage. Helen Property Owner

  • "A great place looked exactly like the photos!"

Comfortable, well looked after and very dog friendly. The house was warm on a cold blustery day. Hot tub was a good passage but could do with a cover to make it easier to enjoy on a windy and rainy day. House was very clean and well presented. We travelled to lots of place as good links to other parts of the Lake District. We were not far from Windermere or Lakeland motor museum

Thank you for your comments- we are glad you enjoyed your stay at our Cottage and also our beautiful area. Property Owner

We were a party of five adults and although managed for a two night stay it would have been nice to have a second toilet and the dining table was a bit tight for us all to sit around.

The best hot tub we have ever had, lovely to come back to after being out. Mark and Helen were lovely hosts too. Helen checking we were ok & had what we needed & recommended places to us. We will definitely be back, hopefully in the spring xx

  • "We had a fantastic time."

Lovely stay. Very warm cosy cottage. Perfect little break. Out in the middle of nowhere, very pieceful My boys enjoyed their stay too. With board games and enjoyed the hottub,. Biggest plus was they accept pets and the grounds are a perfect size for my dog. Not that I needed anything from the owner and they thought of everything for our stay. But they are a phone call away. Recieved a welcome text message which I thought was a nice touch. Many thanks

The hot tub was amazing, really good jets and the beds were so comfy with quality linen. The cottage is a really good size, spacious and clean and was well stocked, including essentials like salt and pepper, oil, kitchen roll, washing up liquid, hand wash etc and extras like shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. The owners are helpful and kindly posted on some clothes we left accidentally and left us a lovely welcome pack.

We had everything we needed, such a lovely clean comfortable cottage ,added bonus was a lovely hot tub, which has only recently been added.. The enclosed garden is perfect for children and pets, also off road parking too. A great base for visiting the lakes and various supermarkets within a few miles. • "Had a 3 night stay here in June, the property offers excellent facilities and has loads of space and off road parking for 3 cars."

The property has a walled garden which was perfect for our little dog who could be let out to run about. The interior is clean and spacious with a large family kitchen diner with every appliance you may need, the bedrooms are a good size as is the bathroom. Although the property is on a main road the windows block out any traffic that pass, the road isn't that busy to be fair anyway. Location wise it is 10 mins from Ulvestone, around 40 mins from Windermere and a hour from Keswick. There is a Aldi supermarket in Ulvestone for any supplies along with pubs which do food. I would have no hesitation in returning, definitely one of the best properties I have stayed in.

  • "We have been using Sykes Cottages for over 10 years and we can honestly say that this is the best property ever !"

!! What a lovely surprise to have an email from the owners 2 days before our visit to inform us they had just had a hot tub fitted in the garden at the cottage. We certainly made good use of this during our stay. The cottage and surrounding lawns were immaculately kept. The decoration, furniture and fittings were of a high standard. The kitchen had a very comprehensive range of equipment. The property was immaculately presented. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Our dog certainly enjoyed the enclosed lawns. Parking beside the cottage was spacious and would accommodate 3 or 4 cars if needed. It deservedly has achieved the 5 star rating. Hazel and Trevor Wilson

  • "What a lovely cottage!"

So cosy, clean and comfortable, and all the rooms bright, modern and airy - what a treat to spend time here. The owners made us feel so welcome, starting off with a terrific welcome pack and staying in touch to make sure everything was ok. The cottage is in a great location, we enjoyed walks round about, especially down to the shore. The weather didn't quite stretch to letting us sit outside, but the views from the front rooms made up for that. It was within easy reach by car to Ulverston and Barrow and less than half an hour to Lakeside at Windermere. We couldn't have picked a better cottage to stay in, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would have loved to stay longer. Thank you Helen and Mark, your cottage is wonderful!

Lots of nice touches and thought had gone into providing ‘extras’ for Christmas week and for the pets. Easy and quick communications with the owners too. We had a great week and the only thing that could have improved it, would’ve been the weather

Thank you for your lovely comments. Sorry that the weather wasn't great, but hopefully if you come back again we can arrange for it to be less wet! Property Owner

  • "We have just spent the weekend in Colt cottage family of 2 adults and 3 children plus our 5month old puppy."

We absolutely loved it. The cottage is situated along a coastal road with great views of the sea. We walked in to a warm and inviting home, with a lovely welcome package. Everything has been thought of, the kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed, the bathroom is lovely and modern, and the bedrooms were bright and airy. It is a great location to access the lakes it was just a 50min drive to Windermere, the local town of Ulverston is really nice with a great play area for the kids and we took a very windy walk upto the monument. Our puppy loved the enclosed garden and he enjoyed doing laps around the outside of the house, care has been taken to not forget our four legged friend to as there were a few toys for him aswell as a lead, bowls and treats. The communication from Helen was fantastic, and we will definitely be looking at trying the cottage in the summer so we can enjoy the garden and the surrounding area.

  • "We stayed at Colt Park Cottage near Ulverston for the October 2023 half term."

The cottage is easy to find with off the road parking adjacent to the property. On arrival, the cottage was warm and welcoming with a lovely gift hamper for ourselves. The property has everything you need for a home from home. It has a well equipped kitchen and some lovely extras like the coffee maker. Equipment is of a good spec and Helen and Mark have really thought carefully about what their guests may need and provided it. The cottage has a walled garden and a fantastic view of Morecambe Bay. We watched both a sunrise and the sunset with equally stunning views. It is within easy driving distance of the lakes and was a wonderful base for our trip away. I can imagine it to be a great getaway at Christmas time. I would highly recommend this cottage to friends and family. Floki recommends the ice-cream from the local ‘Roy’s ice cream’ van by the bay!
