White Cross Bay

White Cross Bay holiday park nestles on the shores of Lake Windermere, midway between Windermere and Ambleside, in the Lake District National Park. Consisting of many lodges, it offers a restaurant, pub, shop, entertainment room, amusement arcade, indoor swimming pool with Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, children's staffed activity centre, marina and outdoor play areas. Lake Windermere, the largest and most popular in the area, boasts a wide range of lakeside activities from walking and cycling to rowing, horse riding, taking a trip on the steam railway, plus lake cruises from Bowness to the pretty village of Ambleside and down to Lakeside, which has a celebrated aquarium. TROUTBECK BRIDGE

The small village of Troutbeck Bridge lies between the famous towns of Windermere and Ambleside, close to the renowned Kirkstone Pass, within the Lake District National Park. Made up of a scattering of Lakeland cottages, this quiet village offers a thriving and very popular local pub, serving real ales and fine food. Why not leave the car at home, with great connections, you can catch the bus here which regularly runs from the train station all the way up to Keswick via Ambleside, Rydal and Grasmere. Explore Brockhole Visitor Centre with tree-top adventures and childrens play park which is close by - boats to Ambleside and Bowness call in here along with some Lake Cruises in season. There are also some charming walks and bridleways to explore directly from here up into the beautiful Troutbeck Valley and across to Wansfell, as well as the gardens at Holehird, which are run entirely by volunteers and are an enchanting and inspiring place to explore.
