  • "This property was perfectly suited to our needs: 8 adults, 3 small children including a baby and one dog."

Comfortable, extremely well equipped, secluded and hence safe for wandering toddlers. Stunning views. Lots to do within short drive. Hosts really welcoming and accommodating to our requests including a visit to their dairy farm which was fascinating and a real highlight for my 3 year old grandson.

Magnificent views, walks straight from the front door, no noise (only animals) and very private.

James even gave us welcome gifts and a tour of the farm! Helpful having a ground floor bedroom as my parents have mobility issues. Highly recommended.

  • "It’s a fabulous property, amazing view."

We couldn’t of asked for more well equipped and spacious. Our only issue was no secure garden space for the dogs. It does need some attention in the cleaning though, under the microwave hadn’t been cleaned for a while/ under the sofa’s. But we did have a fabulous break, well worth it. The owner came to see us and brought us home made cake and marmalade a lovely thought.

  • "Spacious yet cosy, well equipped and decorated without being fussy, views to die for."

A perfect rural retreat set in stunning scenery yet only 5 miles from Skipton. Nice little touches from the owners: flowers in the downstairs rooms and a delicious cake and Yorkshire tea. We’ll be back.

  • "The cottage and location, views etc are perfect."

Some of the cooking equipment needs replacing, ie frying pans. there is plenty of equipment for use by 10 people but we did think the cooker was too small for the max number of people. The shower in the main bathroom was intermittent so having just two showers for 10 people is inadequate. Having said that we would visit the cottage again, loved the area.

  • "The property is lovely and comfortable."

Just one downside. The road leading to the property is a dirt track as it's on farmland. There are some rather large potholes , family cars should be driven very slowly to prevent any damage. Perhaps they can be filled in for the next people who visit. Apart from that is was a lovely stay.

  • "Street Head Farm is ideal for a large family holiday."

The house, which dates from the 18th century, has been lovingly restored, with many original features retained. The house is spacious, with two sitting areas, and a large kitchen/diner. The panoramic views from the front door are superb, as the house is 1000ft up. Skipton, the gateway to the Dales, is only 15 minutes by car. The Gooch family, the owners, who live in the next door farmhouse, are very helpful. My family and I would recommend Street Head Farm as a holiday base with great enthusiasm.

Walks straight from the door, the owner came and invited the children to go and visit his farm and to watch the cows being milked which they thoroughly enjoyed.

Very quiet and peaceful with lovely walks and views. The goodies on our arrival were lovely, thank you James and Julie. Skipton was a short drive away with a good variety of shops, a market on certain days and a castle and Lothersdale was a leisurely walk with a fantastic pub.

The cottage is located down a track road, the setting is quiet and out of the way surrounded by beautiful views. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Street Head Farm and the owners of cottage who have a dairy farm just further down the lane are lovely they looked after us supplying us with tea, home made cake and marmalade and James even arrived with extra logs for us. There are lovely walks from the door which our dogs loved. We are looking forward to returning to Street Head Farm.

The views are wonderful, the house itself has all the comforts and facilities you'd need, from a good kitchen, decent bbq, plenty outdoor furniture. If you like walking, plenty of good walks from the house or nearby, very handy for nearby towns and villages in the dales. Easy to get to and the owners are very friendly and helpful. It’s a real ‘home from home’ - spotlessly clean, very comfortable and extremely well equipped. The weather was very kind to us, so it was morning coffee at the front, taking in the marvellous views, and evening BBQ’s at the back, soaking in the sunshine. Our two boisterous little dogs loved the freedom to run through the fields at the front of the farm. The homemade cake and marmalade was delicious and the fresh milk a real treat - wonderful in coffee.

Perfect location, not to remote, with a magnificent view. Our hosts were extremely welcoming, with home produced milk, eggs, cake, marmalade, flowers, logs and kindling on arrival. The house is equipped with everything you need for a family/ group gathering. The surrounding countryside, villages and towns provide numerous activities for all. One obvious cautious note would be to novice cyclists, there are plenty of hills. Also the track down to the farm, although easily accessible to standard family vehicles,I believe lower/sporting type cars need extra caution. We all ( 16 in total for the week) thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return in the near future.

About the location

Cowling 3 miles; Skipton 5 miles.

The charming village of Lothersdale nestles in a peaceful valley in the Pennine Hills, just five miles from the market town of Skipton. It was, at one time, home to Charlotte Bronte who modelled Gateshead Hall in Jane Eyre on Stone Gappe House where she was governess. Today many visitors passing through the village are walkers, on their way along the Pennine Way on the stretch from Cowling to Gargrave. There is a village pub which serves food and an excellent range of amenities are available in Skipton just a short drive away. Also close by is Haworth, and the Bronte’s home, as well as the famous Worth Valley Steam Railway.
