  • "When arrived at the property we were able to park outside."

The opposite side of the road is permit only Mon-Fri 9am to 6pm. However can park for one hour in these times. This allowed us to unpack. The parking is in the next street and a very short walk. We managed to get early bird parking most days before 9am cost is £1.20 all day to 8pm. Then free overnight to 8am. On first impression the cottage was clean and welcome packs of refreshments was left along with cleaning pack. The cleaning team and maintenance do let the owner down. But this has been raised and the owner is dealing. A few issues were addressed whilst there. Cottage is very spacious and comfortable. The main tv was broken on arrival and the owners kindly delivered and installed a new one the next day. The open fire is beautiful and well used on our visit. Kitchen is fully fitted with all equipment you would need. Including washer dryer and dishwasher. The beds were comfortable and clean mattresses. All laundry looks to be laundered which is the norm for holiday lets. Towels - brilliant! I say this as most places have small bath towels. These were bath sheets! Owners are new and very responsive and are making changes as we speak. I would highly recommend Nutkin cottage. The area is lovely. About 1 mile walk to the lake down hill. Lots of lovely shops around the corner from cottage and plenty places to eat our favourite was san Pietro.

  • "The cottage was in a perfect location right in the centre of Windermere which has a lovely variety of places to eat, drink and shop."

There are lovely walks on the doorstep and the bus service is brilliant. We didn’t use the car at all for 4 days as we could easily get to Ambleside and Grasmere on the bus. The cottage was warm given the weather during our stay was very wet. The kitchen was well equipped and clean but let down by the fridge door which was covered in smears possibly due to being a matt black door. The living area was ok but felt a little ‘tired’ as did the entrance hall. The first floor bedroom was clean, comfortable and pleasantly furnished. Little things let the accommodation down and these can be easily remedied. There was no toilet roll in the two first floor bathrooms. This created a bad first impression that was hard to shake off. When you first arrive the first thing most people do after a long journey is pop to the loo! We realised that this was not an oversight as we saw a previous review. The living room TV was not connected to the internet so extra channels and streaming were not available. It did make us laugh that there was an ice bucket and two glasses laid out on the bistro table. Probably best not to bother if there is no wine

Hi Helen My name is Jingwen and I am the owner of Nutkin Cottage. I want to thank you for sharing the feedback. I only recently took over Nutkin Cottage and therefore appreciate any suggestion that could help improve the service. My apologies for the toilet roll arrangement. They should have been provided. And I will speak with the house keeping team to ensure this won’t happen again. In terms of the internet connection for living room TV. I will ask the maintenance team look into it. We noticed that sometimes the armchair next to it might block the signal. However, I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. If there is any other area with Nutkin Cottage that I could make improvement, please don’t hesitate to let me know. Thank you very much again for choosing Nutkin Cottage and sharing your feedback! Warm regards Jingwen Property Owner

  • "On arrival we were disappointed to find that the property was very dirty, the hallway entrance had not been vacuumed and in the lounge there were food crumbs and Jam on the floor."

Cobwebs from the ceiling and around the fire places in the lounge and dinning area and vertical dusty. We had been left only one half used toilet roll, and the bedrooms had not been vacuumedand only 1 set of towels. This not not the welcome we expected

Hi Barry Further to the emails from last week, I want to apologise again for the experience you had with us. Cleanness is a core element of our service provision and as owner of Nutkin Cottage I take it very seriously with regard the issues raised. In addition to the actions I’ve taken to inform the housekeeping team and other relevant teams to look into this incident, I am also in process of sourcing new vendors to ensure more strict standards and cleaning arrangements will be put in place to support positive guests experience. I really appreciate your feedback and I hope I could welcome you again in future to stay in Nutkin Cottage. Kind regards Jingwen Property Owner

  • "This cottage is in a great location close to various cafe, restaurants, pubs, convenience stores, and shops in Windermere town centre."

Inside the house we found it cosy with a modern kitchen and all necessary appliances including washer/dryer that we can use to wash little one’s cloth. There are also three bathrooms and three smart TVs in living and bedrooms, which is very convenient for us (six people from multiple generations) to stay. We enjoyed our time in Nutkin cottage and explored lake districts around Windermere/Bowness/Ambleside with plenty of wonderful walks, scenery, water activities, parks & sites for children play. Will recommend to others and try to book another stay in Nutkin next year.

Hi Kai Thank you very much for the positive feedback. We’d welcome you and family and friends to stay with us again! If you feel there is any improvement we could put in place, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Warm regards Jingwen Property Owner
