  • "Had a brilliant stay, spacious and comfortable."

Finally found the black holiday home info book hidden under various leaflets so took us time to locate heating control. Maybe if this is placed next to the welcome gift (most appreciated thankyou) location won't be a problem. Beautiful views. Hope to return.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are pleased that you had an enjoyable stay. We take all comments on board. Thank you The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "Good location, quiet yet handy for the village."

Loads of room and facilities. We thought the living room was dimly lit on an evening. It didn't really matter as we played board games in the dining room on a night and the living room was ok for watching tv. Second car parking is meant to be in the village at £8.50/day, although reimbursed. It's more like 600m than 200m but never mind. Frequent bus service to Coniston or Ambleside for more walks although plenty from the door.

  • "We loved the house and its closeness to the lovely village with its shops and pubs."

The welcome gift was much appreciated. However we found the parking really difficult. There is not a proper car parking space which we found really stressful. We had to park diagonally in front of the garage, inches away from the garden stone wall, and almost touching the garage door. Even then the car was not completely off the road. When we arrived the dustbin and recycling boxes were in front of the garage. We moved these as close to the garden wall as we could, so we could park the car, and on two occasions they were shoved into the front garden by the neighbours so we couldn’t even get to the front door. For these reasons we would not book the cottage again.

  • "Overall it’s a great property in a great location for the Lakes."

Very comfortable and warm. Lovely terrace and views from the back garden which we enjoyed. Boot room and utility room particularly helpful and appreciated. However…. Main black rubbish bin outside was full and overflowing on arrival, probably because it’s a fortnightly collection, so we had nowhere to put our rubbish. You probably need another one?? Also I’d read in February when booking that there’s not enough utensils and equipment in the kitchen. This was disappointingly still the case. No serving dishes, roasting or cooking trays, no large water jug or large mixing bowls for instance. No outdoor cups. No iron for the ironing board that we could find. Much poorer equipped than the second place we stayed in. But an easy fix that could really add a lot of value. This is why our rating is 4 not 5

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately the bin had not been left out for emptying by previous guests, I apologise for any inconvenience caused. We do provide cooking trays etc, they are above and below the oven. The iron is usually located in the games room behind the ironing board unless it had been Tidied away in a cupboard. We will of course take your comments on board. With thanks. Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful week at Tiffle Bank, very relaxing."

The cottage was very comfortable, had everything we needed. Garden was beautiful to look out on and our children enjoyed using the games room. Hawkshead was an excellent village. Quite a few places offered gluten free food and the local Co-op sold gluten free bread, pasta etc. Very helpful with 3 of us being gluten free. We enjoyed hiring a motor boat on Lake Windermere, a nice way to see the lake around limited mobility and appreciated the very short 5 minute stroll into the village with its lovely shops and places to eat and see. Lots of amazing walks on the door step and stunning scenery everywhere we went. Look forward to coming back one day, thank you so much for a lovely week!

Wow what an amazing review ! Thank you so much. We are thrilled to hear that you had a wonderful & relaxing week. We would love to welcome you back to Tiffle Bank for future visits. Property Owner

Lovely position with views and a 5 minute walk to the village. We did some lovely walks from the door and didn’t use our car once in a week!

  • "We enjoyed our week in Tiffle Bank, perfect location 2 minute walk into Hawkshead we only used the car twice over the week which is a first for us, plenty of walking from the house, we were also lucky with the weather so used the garden to relax after a day of walking and enjoyed the lovely views around,we found parking at the house not ideal as the area in front of garage not big enough to park completely off the road so parked the best we could, we have a Jazz which not a large car but still didn't manage to park easily, not sure how you would manage with 2 cars arriving, also guest information book would be useful, overall we enjoyed our stay at Tiffle Bank and probably would recommend it due to the location."

Thank you for taking the time to review our cottage. Parking is for one car as advertised with further paid parking available a 2 minute walk away in the village. We note your comments re guest information and do have leaflets and a notice board available for guests. We would love to welcome you back for a future visit. Property Owner

'..Had a wonderful 5 day break at Tiffle Bank recently and we WILL be back! Proximity to the village was perfect and with the Herdwicks in the field out front, the location was perfect. The boot room came into its own, what with the April showers, and then log burner evenings! Bit of a Tardis feel as the property reveals itself. Great master bedroom with a sumptuous bed, and storage space aplenty. Cooked every night and God bless the dishwasher! Loved it..

  • "Parking isn’t as described."

Told by email after booking to park 2 cars in front of double garage. It’s a single garage with a driveway that you Can’t park a normal size car (VW golf) on without sticking out into the road. Can’t park in front of house as it is a single track road. If you do you upset neighbours and can block the road. Can park in village 200 yards away for £8.50 for 24hrs. House is lovely, warm and comfortable. Everything of good quality Could do with extra cutlery, mugs and glasses- not enough when 6 people and using a dishwasher. Would also be helpful to have an information pack. Lovely location just outside Hawkshead village. 2 minute walk to village. Garden and patio would be lovely on a sunny day. Can’t fault the accommodation.

We are pleased that you found the cottage to be warm, comfortable and in a lovely location. Your comments regarding cutlery & crockery are noted and we will provide more asap. Unfortunately The information you received regarding parking was incorrect and we will speak to Lakelovers to have this resolved immediately, please accept our sincere apologies. Property Owner

About the location

HAWKSHEAD

Ambleside 5.1 miles; Kendal 17.4 miles.

The picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Visitors can wander the wealth of tiny alleyways, thoroughfares, archways and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th century houses. There are many pleasant inns, teashops, guest houses and gift shops in the village, as well as the Beatrix Potter Gallery, which houses an annually changing exhibition of the famous author’s illustrations and stories. The other famous Hawkshead enthusiast, William Wordsworth, attended the Old Grammar School in 1779-87, which still stands today, and you can visit the building where the Lakeland poet developed his love of the form, and even see the desk into which he scratched his name as a small boy! Newby Bridge is ten miles away and offers attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes and Windermere Lake Cruises, sailing daily between Ambleside, Bowness and Lakeside. With stunning scenery and numerous attractions within easy touring distance, Hawkshead is in an ideal location at any time of the year.
