The property

Allendale Town 7 miles.

Nestled amidst the unspoilt landscape of the North Pennines AONB, close to the village of Allenheads and the nearby pretty village of Allendale is this characterful property, Meadowside Cottage.

This stone built terraced cottage is situated in a wonderful position in Ropehaugh within walking distance of the centre of Allenheads.

This rural hideaway enjoys a tranquil position, offering the opportunity to immerse in the area’s superb birdwatching, cycling and walking and explore one of the most preserved landscapes of the country, carved by heather moorland, breath-taking waterfalls and a number of pretty towns and villages. After soaking up the picturesque countryside setting, kick off your walking shoes within the rear door porch before relaxing into your evening within the sitting room, where the woodburning stove welcomes you in during a winter’s afternoon.

The sitting room truly highlights the character and charm of the property, with the stone-flagged floors and the original church pew bench complementing the plush seating arrangement and TV, making a wonderful space for relaxing.

The charm is continued within the kitchen/diner, where the contemporary design frames the well-equipped and quality amenities required to cook up your own delicious meals, as well as a washing machine and a dishwasher for a hassle-free getaway.

If you are visiting during the warmer climate, take your home-cooked meal to the patio area for a spot of alfresco dining whilst admiring the soundtrack of the nearby River East Allen.

After dinner, pour yourself a glass of something refreshing and light up the patio heater and catch a glimpse of the stars or relax in the welcoming garden sun room before you head to bed.

Once the sun has gone into hiding, make your way up the staircase to catch your rest within one of the bedrooms, each boasting a refreshing ambiance.

Choose between a well-presented king-size bedroom with ample storage or a twin bedroom where the exposed beam offers even more character.

For local amenities, Allenheads has a pub, café and heritage centre, while venturing to the nearby town of Allendale will bring you to a convenience store, as well as several pubs and cafés to enjoy.

Visit the historic market town of Hexham where you will be delighted to find the 12th century Abbey and a little further afield can take you to the Heritage Coastline or the Northern Lake District for a good day out.
