  • "Location was found despite not owning a sat nav in the car."

It would be better if you provided a better way of directing clients to their chosen accommodation. Not everyone has sat nav and do not use mobiles which is the case with ourselves. The lodge was reasonably clean as long as we didn’t mind cobwebs. It was fairly comfortable too and well-equipped. However the Wi-Fi passcode given in the lodge brochure was wrong and we had to chase the owner to provide the correct one, for which they apologised. The dishwasher was broken and the owner expected an engineer during the week but no sign of him/her all week. We therefore had no mobile connection(locality issue), no Wi-Fi and subsequently no television for first part of holiday. We shall not return to Eskholme Lodge and this experience colours our thinking on using Sykes again.

  • "Lovely stay at Eskholme Lodge."

Fantastic location. Golf course on the doorstep and great base to explore the Lake District. Comfortable house. Everything we needed for our stay. Would recommend staying here and hope to return to explore more of the Lake District.

  • "A well presented, cosy and well placed cottage."

We were a group of 4 adults, 1 toddler and 2 dogs and the cottage provided lots of space for us all to play and relax. Upstairs the bedrooms are light and spacious- however there are only blinds at the windows so if you like a really dark room you may need to be creative with arranging them. Downstairs the kitchen is well stocked - you have to look in cupboards as some items are creatively stored. The 2 living rooms are great if you want to have quiet areas. Plenty of attractions nearby and would definitely recommend Muncaster Castle, the beach at Seascale and Wast water. Further afield Coniston, Keswick and Windermere offer full days out. Definitely recommend this cottage as a base for a family getaway

  • "Well-appointed house with great access to walks for the dogs."

The area is well worth exploring. We’d definitely return. Just bear in mind that mobile coverage is really poor so you’re reliant on the house Wi-Fi/phone line for comms. The views are stunning.

  • "Property is in a lovely area with a good variety of things to do."

The cottage was very cosy and well furnished. Our stay had mixed weather with very strong winds but very enjoyable. One thing I would add and is only a small downside. The twin bedroom was very draughty with the strong winds and could do with the windows and frame being refurbished.

  • "Just returned after 3 days which was lovely, properly was in great location especially if you want to go up Skaffel Pike which we did."

Walks from the front door or others not far to travel, just being in the middle of no where it was bliss. Property was lovely and very spacious and garden and seating area, we actually had breakfast outside in January as was so nice. Everything we needed was there and could not fault it, hopefully return again.

  • "It felt a real privilege to stay at this property."

It was in a stunning location and every window had a lovely view. Everything we needed was on hand and all kitchen facilities were excellent. Bed was comfy and it was very clean property. Fabulous walks from the doorstep on through to Eskdale and Ravenglass. Near to coast and more mountainous scenery. It's a spacious property and when you drive up to it on arrival I promise you won't be disappointed. Secure garden for dogs and parking off road and room for 2 cars. We'd love to go again in Autumn when the landscape is at its best. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate for a second in recommending the property.

  • "Eskholme Lodge is one of the best cottages we've stayed in."

The location is just fantastic - so many lovely walks from the door, fabulous scenery - being close to mountains, and the coast makes it really versatile. The cottage was spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable & there was just nothing to dislike at all. We definitely intend to re-book.

  • "Lovely cottage."

Will book it again. I really liked the two downstairs rooms. Excellent base for walking. Nikki was very responsive and helpful. Bedrooms are spacious, light and comfortable. If you are coming with dogs I would recommend that you bring lots of dog towels - it was very wet the week we were there and the garden got very muddy, so we needed clean the dogs off every time they went out.

About the location

Coniston 10 miles.

The small village of Eskdale Green sits amongst beautiful Lakeland countryside and consists of a scattering of cottages, some farm dwellings and a number of outstanding traditional English pubs serving good food. An area relatively unknown to many Lakeland visitors, this great location boasts a skyline dominated by the towering peaks of Scafell - England's highest peak, as well as Great Gable, Hard Knott, Harter Fell and Muncaster Fell, whilst the nearby stunning valleys of Eskdale, Wasdale, Ennerdale and Dunnerdale provide breathtaking and ever-changing scenery to be enjoyed throughout the year. The valley is notable as being one of few major valleys in the Lake District not to have its own lake, although several tarns are perched above the valley sides. Local attractions include Muncaster Castle, the World Owl Centre and the Ravenglass to Eskdale miniature railway, one of the most beautiful train journeys imaginable. With both beautiful Wastwater - the deepest lake in the country and St Olaf's - the smallest church, amongst the many well known landmarks in this awe inspiring and beautiful area also within easy reach, this stunning location will have visitors returning time and time again.
