The owner had put the lights on for us which was a nice touch. We also liked the welcome package that was left. The beds were so comfy & bathrooms were of a high spec. The children loved the wet room downstairs. A lovely stay & perfect for our weekend away.

  • "Bins in the bedrooms would be good."

Hooks on the back of main bedroom door would be helpful. Velux windows all looked quite dirty. Sheet in main bedroom not big enough so kept coming off. Recycling very unclear. Nice to be able to help yourself to wood. Cottage folder very poor and broken. No real house info. Welcome pack also very poor. Lovely and spacious property.

The finish of all the interior features of the cottage was fantastic: fabulous bathrooms, comfy beds, comfortable furnishings and plenty of mirrors and storage (which are often lacking in holiday renatl properties). A wonderful stay and friendly helpful owners next door.

Thank you for your feedback. Occasionally things go wrong and it is a shame that you did not contact anybody during your stay about the points you have since raised. We take feedback very seriously and want all of our guests to have a great stay. There is a cafetiere at the property and the hot water is on all the time , it is instant when turned on, with a control in owner's home to check for any problems. The Broadband 50mb. • "Without restating what others have written, we feel we must say that this holiday cottage is most likely the most well maintained and equipped we have booked through Sykes in over twelve years."

We were made very welcome and found a starting pack waiting for us in the cottage including milk, tea and coffee. The cottage has wonderful views of the country side and a friendly hare, and is very well situated for walks, or visiting towns and local areas, It is in easy reach of the west coast so Blackpool (if that's your liking) is only 30 minutes away, road works permitting. The owners were also very helpful in taking in an early delivery of essential medical equipment for our son. Thank You Andrea & Ted.

Perfect facilities for us both being tall (large showers, bath, beds, towels etc) and with a small baby (travel cot, highchair, change mat and towel). The space was carefully curated to maximize the light with brilliant rural views. You can see stars from the bath tub through the roof light and birds of prey from the kitchen/living room windows. We stayed as 2 couples and there was plenty of room for us all to feel at home. The owners are really helpful - they live next door - we didn't even notice them all week but they were there if we needed anything or any advice. The cottage is so cosy and warm, was lovely to go exploring the local area and come back to or just to chill out in all day! Cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you.

Only downside and I am nitpicking really most walks began with a drive to get to start of walks; not too much of a problem as all the villages and walks are within a 20-30min. drive. Beautiful area would like to come back and see it in springtime.

About the location

RIBCHESTER

Blackburn 7 miles; Clitheroe 9 miles; Preston 11 miles.

The village of Ribchester is encircled by green hills and lies in a curve of the River Ribble mid way between Preston and Clitheroe. It is a pleasant jumble of multi-coloured stone cottages in long twisting terraces. It has three pubs, the White Bull, dated 1707, the Black Bull and the Ribchester Arms and the award-winning Chinese restaurant Yu and You Restaurant and Bar. The White Bull has a porch canopy supported by four columns said to be from Roman ruins. The village takes its name from the River Ribble and the fort of Bremetennacum (the walled town by the Ribble). For this reason, Ribchester has been seen to have a purely Roman foundation, but excavations in 1977 showed that settlements going back to the middle Bronze Age existed in the area. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Ribble Valley is a rural haven of spectacular scenery, diverse natural habitats and historical legend, a place of almost incomparable peace, where adults and children alike can enjoy the simple pleasures of the outdoors without the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Longridge is easily reached, a unique town with plenty of interesting shops and tempting eateries, described as 'big on character' by the Sunday Times and ranked in their '101 Best Places To Live In Britain'. Nearby Clitheroe is famed for its specialist shops of all types, including, amongst others, a sausage shop that sells over seventy-five different varieties! A gourmet's paradise, with award-winning restaurants and country hotels situated throughout the valley, and annual events including a number of agricultural shows and day festivals of all types, this fantastic location has plenty to offer at any time of year!
